Can anyone else with Halo 2 Vista check the MP, I havent been able to see the servers this week?
Doing my Legendary run, makes me hate this game I love so much.
We all want Halo 2 Anniversary so bad, but Im going to be honest with myself, i cannot see it ever happening.*
I think this game just simply isnt polished enough to release anymore, the fact that legendary by default is a quadruple-slaso-jackalsniper-nightmare out of the box doesnt help either.
Completely broken is the only way any Halo fan would want it, I just dont know how everyone else would feel about it.
* without a lot of work, and probably the game being "patched"

I really want to know how the Theater has been improved. Video rendering? Party viewing (coming back)?
Has it been mentioned that Theater is improving or changing at all? I don't recall anything, or else I'd have flipped out.

I don't think they have mentioned theater at all. Personally, I don't expect any changes, although an upload to youtube would be awesome.
We will hear the podcast about the sandbox in the next week or two, and that should shed some light/fill in the gaps about the sandbox.
Going to bed right now, will probably finish Cryptum with the heat going on here. I don't know if it's ever taken me longer to finish a 300 page book. :/

Video rendering alone would make me very happy. Upload to YouTube would just be icing on the cake.

Speaking of Waypoint and files, I wonder if Halo 3 or ODST will ever have file shares on there or if our Halo 3 content is just in limbo now.

I can deal with rendering to Waypoint if the links to the videos actually work and it's free.
I don't think they'll ever bother, honestly. Or at least not for a while. Waypoint is hopeless, lol. It needs a massive overhaul, start from scratch.

Couldn't disagree more and I'm guessing this has to do with the philosophies we believe in. I see firepower as choosing two powerful primary weapons such as a DMR/Shotgun, BR/DMR, not BR/AR. Also, I would see it as taking a dump all over the automatics then because unless they kill significantly faster than the precision rifles at close range (which in reality would cause a lot of people to complain that "newb-friendly" weapons are OP), they just won't be used.
I wasn't referring to the impressions by Game Informer at all actually. I was referring to the impressions of when MLG players (beginning with the release of the GI info) started posting tweets about how incredibly broken multiplayer will be with PP's as secondary weapons, then 343 saying that it's subject to change, it's not final, etc etc
idk man, I seriously doubt it lol - The Pistol is a headshot weapon that many people agreed it was a good "sidearm" to finish off a kill when you run out of ammo. The same can't be said about the AR, especially at ranges.. Why would hardcore players choose an AR/Storm Rifle over a Carbine or other precision weapon or even a Shotgun?

Do you have an XBL Gold Family account? If so, Halo 2 Vista won't work for that account, you'll have to make a new silver account.

I feel like the podcast is just going to be them talking about their philosophies of what makes a good sandbox, which I will gladly listen to, but I doubt it will really reveal anything new.
I used to think that the people here on these treads were cool until i realized that a lot of them seem to be a-holes that think they are better than everyone else. All you do is sit at a computer and comment all day on this thread. your no better than anyone else on here or waypoint.

Seriously though, yeah there are assholes here, but you'll find assholes in all walks of life. Best thing to do is just ignore them and not take things to heart, confrontation on the forums will not end well. Hell, my first experience in-game with some HaloGAF members ended with me being bitched at and labeled a "retard" for going to town with my double beatdowns. I just made a mental note that these people deserved to be double beat-downed at every possible opportunity if I ever played with them in the future and moved on with my life.
Just to note, I haven't actually played with any of those particular guys since that day (which was over a year ago), apart from Overdoziz, but everyone knows he's an asshole.

I am better than you, I didn't stoop so low as to assume everyone here spends all of their time on their computer, especially since I've gotten to know a bunch of people here. Best way to make friends is to generalize everyone here, yup.
I think Halo 2 would better suit a Director's Cut than any of the other Halos. We know missions were cut and the story was changed and only the most stubborn purists would complain about some tweaks to the Legendary difficulty.
They'd have to ship the original campaign in any Anniversary edition, but the main event should be a new "fixed" version of Halo 2. They could try and get Bertone or Greissemer on board to add a bit of credibility for purists.
I wonder how people would feel about a non-canon type Halo 2 release, the original vision that was intended without looking at the fiction created from then on.

Yeah, that's kind of what I was getting at. I suppose it's a really difficult thing for MS to sell though. It's much easier to say "Remember that game you LOVED ten years ago?! Well now you can love it again with all the HDs you can eat!" than "Remember that game with the awesome multiplayer and average single player!? Well now you can play it again! Except without the multiplayer! And instead of the average single player we've replaced it with a better single player. But the new single player isn't canon. IN HD!"
I would like to see a Halo 2 as was originally intended even if it's not canon, but I can see that it's a really muddy call for Microsoft to make.

Microsoft will question why they are putting so much money on something that needs a whole new dedicated team (I highly doubt that 343 main team is working on something else besides the Reclaimer trilogy) to create new levels, new story, new characters and more. Why not create a new game, it doesnt have the stigma of its a HD remaster and you can market it more easily.
The thing you don't seem to realize is that these dudes would be twice as tall as a Spartan. That's not going to happen.
A bit of an exaggeration there I think Hyper, but considering the mind boggling amount of effort, dedication and hardcore maths involved to do what they have just done I think a bit of back-patting is understandable.

Saw that map and thought it looked splendid too. Had a bit of colour to it (well as much as can be expected in forge).
The old MLG map, Element I believe it's called? That map is like the arena maps of old in Halo (Wizard particularly), small, faced paced and simple. Plays great. Would 'they' dare make a map like that anymore in Halo though? I can't imagine seeing a map like that at launch.

It doesn't sound that unreasonable to me considering Black Op's did it in 2010, their first attempt at a theatre mode to boot. The biggest obstacle I can see to it is the fact MS is so maniacally insistent on forcing the use of Silverlight, which Youtube of course doesn't use.
An upload to Youtube or some other site is the only thing I think will push it as an "improvement". Party viewing? Don't care. Need something big.
Ranking system is something pretty controversial no matter how you slice it. There's simple things I've yet to know about, and just base things off pure speculation. Where's the gametypes? Is it just CTF, Oddball, KotH, and Regicide? Is BTB going to give player's liberty to choose DMR/PP/plasma nade loadouts? Vehicle health?

I don't understand why 1-50 is controversial. There's nothing wrong with the system, it's the jerks that abuse it that are the problem. The fact of the matter is that it keeps people playing far more than simple progression does. There's a sense of actual accomplishment when you get a 50 because it's not just grinding away at the Cr bar.
But those who can't get a fifty don't like to be constantly reminded that they're bad... or something. /Bungie's reasoning.
