I can't see this argument ending any time soon,...
So I'm going to drop some factoids, anyone who disagrees with them, explain why.
- BR is a mid range weapon
- BR is a utility weapon
- BR is a load-out primary weapon
- (assumption) 5sk BR has a slower kill time than 4sk BR
- Halo 4 is a sandbox shooter
- Being skilful with a sandbox requires the ability to be skilful with a large subset of the sandbox
- The BR is one weapon
- In order to be skilful at the game, there must not be a dominant weapon for the average encounter
- The BR, as a 4sk, was a dominant power.
- The BR was nerfed.
Seems pretty logical to me..
Ok, now that I have the chance to use a computer, I will respond to this.
1. Yes, it is most effective at mid range.
2. Yes, it is a utility weapon which means it can be used it all situations with success. It should be beaten by weapons that are in their specific niche however.
3. Yes
4. Not sure what you mean by this. Do you mean 5sk in Halo 4 is the same as 4sk in Halo 2/3? Somewhat pointless discussion point though as the comparison should be between the other utility weapons in Halo 4 and not past utility weapons.
5. Sandbox/Arena mix IMO.
6. Not really. You have to be skillful with the weapons that work well. If something is terribly underpowered, no matter how skilled you are with it you will not get very far.
7. One weapon that is meant to fill multiple rolls. The perfect way to describe the BR or any utility weapon is to call it a jack of all trades, master of none.
8. Agreed to an extent. Knowing what weapon to use at specific times requires skill and knowledge but also, some weapons might be more useful in certain situations (i.e AR) but if you're skilled enough with the utility weapon (i.e the BR) you can come out on top.
9. It was a utility weapon, it's meant to be used in more situations than other weapons. In Halo 2, the BR was only dominant because of button glitches. If not for them, the BR would not have dominated everything. Most autos and dual wield combinations could kill faster than the BR. In Halo 3, dual wields and specific niche weapons could kill faster than the BR. The problem was the AR being useless outside of melee range. Also in Halo 3, a lot of the maps were poorly designed which meant the BR was more required than it should have been. (i.e long skinny halls, large open spaces which were required to be crossed etc)
10. It shouldn't have been, the other worthless crap should have been buffed. Look at Halo:CE, the pistol was godly powerful. Instead of nerfing it, Bungie buffed the other weapons which created the most varied and effective sandbox in the history of Halo.
