The best part is that most people won't notice a difference.

It makes sense to use numbers to designate EXP level, since it is so easily comparable, without any knowledge if the game. A man off the street couldn't tell you a Nova is higher than a Mythic.

Is this confirmed though? Because didnt reach have 50 exp levels? There may be a 1-50 skill rank yet...

Well... We can hope anyway...
 
Oh I misunderstood you. Confirmed 1-50. But we're guessing it's not "skill based"

So it is Exp based then. Interested to see how they plan to keep the competitive focused gamers happy. Something about not having a rank in team slayer bothered me in reach. Felt pointless trying in a match when we could just fuck around and such.

We're assuming it is. I don't think it's been explicitly stated. We also haven't had a detailed break down of the progression system yet.

Whatever the case is I hope that the matchmaking settings are what they should be. I want good teammates, good opponents and good connections. Don't sacrifice match quality for search times. Shit's not worth it.

edit: Source on what? The 1-50? Pretty sure it's in the latest bulletin. You go 1-50 and then enlist in a specialization.

Actually, what I read that hasn't been really talked about much is that once you choose a specialization, you have to complete it in order to move on to another one. That's pretty interesting and I think I like it.

They said they are considering implementing a hidden skill based determination that only you can see. Matchmaking will be skill based but it's unlikely that you'll be able to have any public facing skilled based icon or number or anything.

Looks like Halo beat CoD at GameFuel promotions this year too.

The "yellow" bottle looks just to be a blurred up version of the current iteration of Mountain Dew that we get in the UK, which is "Mountain Dew Energy" and comes in a neon green bottle:

It tastes quite different to standard Mountain Dew, which we don't get in the UK.

I don't see what the big fucking deal is, it's gamer fuel, we all know this.

It will be along the same lines I guess but we have never had the previous Gamer Fuels in the UK. It just looks like they are releasing an additional flavour (Orange) and re-packaging the existing Mountain Dew Energy so it is Halo-themed.

MP: Sandtrap. For the the hundreds of hours of tears of joy that came out of that map.
Campaign: "The Covenant" - Halo 3. Amazing vehicular combat, great cinematics, awesome story and really "feels like Halo".

Interesting. Wonder what the US will get then. You guys don't have regular Dew? Is Energy more like an energy drink than a soda?
 
Weird thing, on the anniversary playthrough.

I found the hallways and interior of AOTCR more repetitive than the library level.
While I wholeheartedly disagree that the AotCR's hallways and rooms are as repetitive as The Library's, I do agree that those sections serve to drag the level down more than anything. That was my feeling after I played it during my semi-annual run through all the Halo campaigns.

AotCR used to be my favorite level, nowadays it's behind The Ark and The Covenant.

Yeah, but it is the fact that they have yet to announce a TruSkill visual rank. It's like they haven't even made 1 yet and are waiting till as late as possible to make and implement it.

Still different though. Even though you couldn't lose EXP rank in H3 by losing a match, you still were awarded a point for winning. Presumably with Halo 4's system you'll constantly be earning EXP, win or lose.

Have I missed something in the last ~ 30 pages? I read the Bulletin and I read the IGN post about specilizations. Something else I should know?

Had so much to do, like throwing a mini LAN, and couldn't keep up with HaloGAF.

FWIW, check the news updates in the OP now and then. I try to put the big news items - typically media and announcements - there.

The EXP system would not be that bad if. You got double EXP for winning then the loosing team. Somthing to play for.

I'd like a separated win/loss ratio. Exp isn't a good metric for how much you won in Halo 3. We all know this. Double exp weekends made sure that wouldn't be accurate.

We don't want exp determining the matchmaking either. We all know an Inheritor doesn't make the player any good. That's why we had the visible number in 3.

Exp, or the medal for everyone system, doesn't need to be the thing we guess how much we win matches from. It doesn't need to be how we guess the skill of other people.

In my perfect world, there'd be a visible rank, k/d ratio, a win/loss ratio and a time(exp) number.
 
Nope, then it was a theater exclusive for a while. Beats me why they released the non-narrated version.
Well they wanted it out there, it's a good selling tool (and not like they're drowning us in content) and they probably couldn't give the narrated one because of their SAG/theater contracts.
