Man, we are a pretty good team, Sai__kun, ne0, and chapel.

Also, 1652 or something for yesterday's ranking. That's probably like, Bronze or something. :lol

I fucking love when you get angry. <3 It's amazing! #ohgosh

Wow swordbase is terrible. I thought Bungie realized their mistake from the last Beta and how everyone hated Snowbound. Tight confined spaces are dumb and don't make for interesting gameplay.

Well except for Chiron, that level was awesome

my rank is at 1,000,000 is this good or is this bad

also will i be onyx division thanks

Shotgun + Guard loadout = fucking win :lol

I'm kinda torn on the MP. On one hand, I like how the game feels like you need more skill shooting, the loadouts add a new strategy, and there's no more leaping across the screen melee attacks.

On the other hand, I know my friends are gonna absolutely get their asses kicked on Live in splitscreen even more now that it feels less casual friendly. It's Nazi zombies only from now on :lol

I've said this before, but this game is going to be super rough for people jumping in...I mean, just from the few extra days of practice from Friends & Family I have, people were just getting destroyed in those Arena matches. It'll be interesting to see how they manage easing new players in without A) babying them, or B) throwing them to the wolves.

a question: will a 1600 always mean a 1600? when I play better will it always be reflected in a higher number? if it stays relative to your individual performance what an awesome tool to see how you're doing.

Wow. Two 1600+ games, then I play one game with incompetents and get a 1200, and my overall rank drops to 1400? WTF kind of BS math is that?

The daily rating is always the average between your 3 best games of the day right?? Or will a bad 1300 game affect things if your daily rating is already in the 1600s?

1600+1600+1200/3 =1466. It's really not that BS math.

(1600+1600+1200)/3 = 1466

Beaten.

I apologize if this was answered already, but I was under the impression that Bungie was removing flag-juggling in Reach? Or were they just...making it less effective? Because I can almost swear it's the same as it was in Halo 3 :(

Great. Then it wont affect me when I quit after being by 'teammates' that are more interested in scoring assassinations than actually helping to take down an enemy.

I happily leave useless teammates to die.

It's your 3 best. So even if you have a bad start to the day, say 3 1300s, you can improve it up to the 1600s.

If your 3 best are say 1545, 1680, and 1400 that averages out to around 1542. Now if you have a game that is 1490, it will replace that 1400 score and increase your average.

Outstanding OP Ghaleon EB. I was going to ask a bunch of kinda noob questions, but the OP made it so I don't have to. I'm gonna get my copy back from my Brother tomorrow and be playing with everyone hopefully late tomorrow night

Thanks. That is perfect.

Wow, I am so happy to be playing a game that rewards accurate shooting and intelligent use of grenades, rather than exploitation of melee weapons with 10-meter lunge distances.

Thats why I stopped playing Reach and started playing Halo 3.

Ahhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh, so much better.

Ended the day with an daily rating of 1668 I believe, not completely horrible. Top game was a 1714 which I'm pretty happy with, just need to get those on a more consistent basis. I have a final tomorrow so I couldn't stay up to try to duplicate the success more for a better rating.

Well, with more peeps in the beta, I was finally able to play some games where I didn't completely suck tonight. It makes the game much more enjoyable. :D

The more and more I play, the more and more I feel that the AR is completely worthless. It doesn't feel as good as the DMR or Needle Rifle, and it isn't even good for Shoot + Melee tactics anymore. I just don't like it.

The DMR, Pistol, and Needle Rifle on the other hand are wonderful. Love love love them. The pistol especially has probably gotten more use from me in this Beta than 3 years of Halo 3 combined. The only thing I wish is that you could draw quicker as I find it too slow when in a heated battle where reloading isn't an option.

As for AA, I find myself sticking to Sprint. Jetpack make you a huge target for everyone although it DOES make traversal in Swordbase easier, and the Armor Lock serves no purpose to me with the small amount of Plasma Grenades, and no vehicles on these maps so far. The cloak seems alright, but the radar jammer doesn't always work in your favor.

Dude. No. Fucking. Kidding. I've been playing with the pistol more today and last night, and I fucking love it. It's perfect to me. I just need to learn to land a couple more body shots so I can pop shields and kill 'em with the last one.,

I don't understand how you guys can't use the AR. I fucking love it :D.

Also decided to post this. Stuck one of these elites in the back as he was walking up to his friend.

Im dieing to play the beta, lost my copt of ODST sometime during the past when I was moving. So feel free to overnight your copy to me :D

I feel all the weapons feel less spastic. I'm not sure what I mean, but I like it. Really really really liking the Beta so far.

Except Sword Base. I hate small closed Halo levels. Just terrible.

I took down a charging hammer guys and I knew it was my new slayer goto. probably not positiver with it yet but I'm learning its ideal usefulness.

Am I the only one having an extremely hard time getting kills on powerhouse at medium and long range? I feel like whenever I try to shoot someone from range, they are immediately able to run into a building or behind an obstacle and hide.

Doesn't help that it takes longer to kill someone with the Reach equivelant of Halo 3's BR.

Arena is fun. But I feel cheap playing anything other than Slayer Pro. With radars it's just not the type of Slayer that I enjoy. It's part of the Reason I stopped playing Team Slayer in Halo 3. I'm glad there's an option for Pro though.

Here are my ratings of my 7 games and wins

1602
1504
1658
1675
1619
1644
1654

I ended with a 1660 or somewhere around that, I don't remember.

I've been playing with and against some decent players. Me and my buddy were getting matched with parties of 4 as well which I'm not too thrilled about :/ It's a beta though so I guess whatever gets in more games for everyone. Games pshhh

Damn I have 20,000 credits now to get that most expensive gear but I forgot to get it. I'll just buy it tomorrow. However tomorrow, I might just try some stuff to test that formula. I might do some evil stuff :lol

I'm watching the HalGAF montage on Halo Waypoint right now. It's fraking brilliant! :lol

I'm looking forward to play with you peeps again in the beta and through out the summer in Halo 3!

Feels like Shadowrun to me too =(

This feels like Halo: Watered Down

I'm going to keep playing the beta, but it seems a lot of the skill and nuance that Halo 3 allowed is gone.

There's far more nuance in Reach than there is in 3.

1672 daily rating >:( Only played 11 games (3 in Arena) though, so maybe I'll be able to raise it. Any clue yet on what rankings = what divisions?

A 1672 is very, very, VERY good. Your chances or raising that are basically nil. In an attempt to stop these questions from coming up again
I know, fat chance
I have put together this handy guide:

Oozer's Big Old Arena InfoTacular:

In order to be put into a Division for a season (which last roughly a month, except for the "Preseason" in the Beta which will last 2 weeks), you need to have 3 Daily Ratings. In order to receive a Daily Rating, you must play 3 Arena games in a day (which is probably Midnight to Midnight PDT). Your Daily Rating is the average of your 3 best games for a given day, which means it cannot go down.

Ratings don't necessarily equate 1 to 1 with a Division. You will be placed into a Division based on your Daily Ratings and the opponents against which you played. All the games you play will be used to determine your Division, not just the ones that count toward your Daily Ratings. The Daily Ratings will be used to place you within the Division. Your placement can change even if you don't play a single game more. It will depend how the rest of the community does. If a lot of people start doing better than you, you can get bumped down in your Division or even dropped a Division.*

Your rating can be thought of like this: 1400s are average, 1500s are good, 1600s are great, and 1700s are incredible. As it stands right now, despite the theoretical max being 2000, the highest you can possibly get is an 1844, and the only way to get that is to go 50-0.

* This is how I understand it to be, but I could be off.

Thank you so much for saying this. So much.

The problem with the rating system is that it favors kills and assists so heavily and doesnt really punish death enough.

So, if like me, you're stuck on a team with lobotomy patients, you're better off running in gung-ho and trying to take as many people down as possible, without caring if you add a death to the other team's kill count.

I played on a team of idiots, tried to stay alive and stay positive. I succeeded, but only got a 1300.

Then I play with another group of idiots, go 15-8-20 and I get closer to 1400.

Im streaky enough as it is, I bounce back and forth between 1300s and 1600s. :lol

Or if you get 50 assists and no deaths right?

What if the game ends at over 50. I've gotten simultaneous multikills at the end of a game before. I guess the best possible would be 53-0 right? Or 53 assists and no deaths?

I think it just shows your opposing team as a group of 4 when they slide in in matchmaking. it seemed every time it picked the opposing team for me it was all 4 at once.

Oh yeah, thats another thing. The matchmaking is stupid. I set best connection and similar skill, the thing sets me and three guys with insane losing records against a party of four warrant officers with insane winning records.

Thanks Bungie! *thumbs up*

Same basic gameplay feel as Halo 3. Still can't get into Halo multiplayer. Something about the floatiness of it.

It's comments like these that make me feel like I'm playing a different game than some people. This is about as far away from Halo 3 a game can feel while still feeling like Halo.

Oozer's Big Old Arena FAQTacular:

What does the rating do?

What rating do I need for, say, an Onyx?

Ratings don't necessarily equate 1 to 1 with a Division. You will be placed into a Division based on your play in the Arena hopper and the opponents against which you played.

The rating is just a cold, hard number. What does it mean?

Well, it's like this: 1400s are average, 1500s are good, 1600s are great, and 1700s are incredible. As it stands right now, despite the theoretical max being 2000, the highest you can possibly get is an 1844, and the only way to get that is to go 50 (kills or assists)-0.

The chances of that happening are so tiny that I didn't include it. But for kicks, that would result in an 1853.

id say wait for the data to level out a bit. most of my matches tonight were ridiculously close in skill ( at least compared to halo 3 )
