Halo: Reach Beta Thread

My daily rant:

-Grenades radius is retarded, I hate it.
-I'm starting to agree with the DMR being too weak, and the accuracy already pisses me off in regards to a closed bloom shot.
-Armor lock, yeah still hate it
-Nerfle > DMR ? It just seems to be more consistent.
-Why does my shield beep like crazy after getting shot once? I hate the false sense of panic, and it's just irritating.
-Reticules blow. Needs contrast/brightness or something.
-Audio mix on the rifles just feel a little too low, I wish they had more thud.
-only 12 shots in a shotgun?
-Focus rifle has too much ammo.
-Plasma Launcher is the most overpowered weapon ever in a halo game. Why do they need to track human again? 4 plasma grenade explosions wasn't enough?
-Flag return radius is garbage, maybe it should be closer to the grenade radius of 2 miles...
-Spartans look really squaty in the menus given their pose / camera position.
-Daily ratings = genius
-overall play mechanics are still as addicting as ever.
-Powerhouse is a pretty good map, but its definitely no high-ground.
-I really love sprint, any thought to making sprint a hold-down button dynamic? The click on/off throws me for a loop.

I like it, means I don't cramp from holding it down, which would be WAY worse. Secondly, I use down on the left stick to stop, not LB toggle-off. This feels natural anyway and I even play a cartoon skid noise in my head when I do it.

Yeah I prefer click as well. Holding it would get annoying after a while.

This is how I did it from the first time I started sprinting. Never even thought of clicking it on and off. :p

I guess in time I'll learn it, but its different from every other game ever, in regards to a sprint/run button.

Yeah, for the first while I was getting annoyed by having it NOT be push and hold as I was doing it longer/around corners than I intended, but once I got used to pushing it once then holding down to stop I can't imagine doing it another way.

Yeah that is really annoying. It should beep when shields are low/gone. It is extremely distracting the way it is now.

Hey urk, any chance the ceiling on Powerhouse has been raised?

It just seems silly that by design you can fly high enough to hit invisible walls, and not even by going out of your way to do so.

:lol at 0:45 you can see my name pop up in the bottom left... Small world.

I saw that when I was watching earlier :lol

I keep getting teamed up with awful players in the Arena. I just finished 2 games in a row where I went at least +7 and no one else on my team went positive.

Awesome, 2 more?

I'm pretty awful, and when I dusted off my mic for the beta I found out that it no longer works, but if you still need someone and are ok with a mute, gt: Kabbage Boy.

Thanks to work and AP tests, I won't have an Arena division tomorrow. :/
Tomorrow, I'm going to get 3 games in and get a daily rating. I need wingmen. :P

Good games Deputy, Gui, and Chapel. That was some bad ass team work.

Good games tonight Gui, Chapel, and Jury. Sorry you had to listen to me gripe most of the time. Now off to write papers...

I'm cool with it as long as you don't mind me yelling 'goddamn grenades!' all the time. :lol

I think we find out what division we're in sometime after 12am PDT right? Or do we have another day? I'm just so interested in finding out if I'm at least above bronze! I average 1650+. Arena is too damn fun.

Quick question guys: did Bungie mention if we can install Reach to the hard drive? I haven't been playing Halo 3's multiplayer because I can't install on the hard drive. I hate hearing the 360's disc rolling sound.

Also, does anyone know if the Games on Demand version of Halo 3's multiplayer works fine even though it's on the hard drive? I should get that and get the map packs. Maybe I can finally play Halo 3 online!

You can install Halo 3 to the hard drive, it's not that big of a deal. It increases loading time by a small percentage, but it shouldn't stop you from playing it altogether.

And they fixed installing to hard drive for ODST, so I'm sure it'll be fine in Reach. Also, Reach multiplayer maps load super duper quick, anyone else noticed that?

The player light is there for split screen. Is it really that much trouble to tap the mic, make a sound, plug it in and out, or turn on and off the switch for it?

Nope.

But, if I can avoid having to make useless sounds, I'd prefer to.

I have Halo 3 on Games on Demand and I have no problems whatsoever with multiplayer. Neither myself nor anyone in my party can ever tell that I'm playing without a disc. Campaign levels take a tiny bit longer to load, but for multiplayer it might as well be loading off the disc.
