Halo: Reach Beta Thread

Y'know, it'd be really cool if I wasn't matched up with a party of 4 when I'm going in with a bunch of randoms to the arena. Thanks.
 
FYI - Current plans indicate that Invasion will be rolled out late morning tomorrow - roughly 11AM-ish PDT, give or take. Plan accordingly. :D
 
This is driving me crazy, I can't place where I've seen her before. Is she from G4?

Can't wait until people start posting, like the did with the ODST roll out, about how Bungie has screwed it up again and why it's PM on the East coast and it still isn't out :D

I feel the same way. It's most unfortunate to pull off an exciting kill only to have the moment marred by a 2nd player who runs in on you right afterward. I feel like I'm trading kills for deaths 90% of the time. The only way to counter that is to always be with teammates, or else to sit back with power weapons and camp. The first is not always possible, and the latter annoys the shit out of me. Dating back to Halo:CE, I've always enjoyed being a player on the move and having to rely on fast twitch reflexes. With each new Halo game it has become increasingly more difficult to get away with this style of play.

Yeah, I want the game to have a sense of stealth to it. But maybe thats just not halo style. I'm probably asking for too much. This isn't splinter cell. :lol

Dreams have been effectively crushed.

I fly back to work tomorrow morning, so I have to leave my house at about 11:00AM.

I was really hoping Invasion would be up first thing in the morning. Looks like I won't have a chance to try Invasion until the game comes out...

:(
 
Looks like Invasion will be just out at about the time I get home from work if my calculations are right.

Shame I can't spend what will be a dull day tomorrow watching rendered Invasion vids.

Thank you, after looking at wiki I think I've seen her in a CNET podcast before.

Can't wait to try out Invasion...damn work! At least I won't have class like I do tonight.
 
I'm getting fed up with this game. I've never experienced so much bull shit in any other video game. I have yet to have any fun in a single game whether I go +15 or -8. It's just one exercise in frustration after another.

Yeah, stuff like the health system, clip size, and bloom make the game much more predictable. Gone are the days where you don't need a power weapon to get nice multikills and sprees going. Finish someone off and the combination of wacky spawns, spawning with the advantage of having nuke grenades, and non-regenerating health means someone'll clean you up pretty damn quickly.

And yeah, the division thing must be broken, there's no way everyone on GAF is in the 5% of rated players with only a few in gold and seemingly no one occupying what should be the majority in Steel, Bronze, or Silver.

I've been playing everyday since last Thursday so I'mma take today off. See you fellas in Invasion.
 
Got loads of games in today, had to make up for only playing Super Street Fighter IV yesterday, and was just winning non-stop, and raising my k/d big time from the big drop when I let friends play it all Sunday...

I got the gameplay down pact I think - sometimes I still melee a bit earlier than I planned to, but other than that, it plays like a dream...

Needler Rifle, Pistol, DMR, delicious... I know there are a few here and there that aren't happy with the changes from Halo 3, but I love the changes and I adapted to them quicker than I expected - it just feels solid.

Only thing I'd say is to beef up the AR, but even that is not a necessity - just don't make any of the other rifles weaker or lower in ammo count please, like with the Halo 3 Beta...

Bungie still making sure that I don't need any other FPS.

My only meeting tomorrow is at 10:00. I think I'll be "working from home" from lunch onward.
 
You know, it doesn't really matter how much damage the grenades deal compared to Halo 3, they're overpowered right now. It's really frustrating, especially when playing Arena. A couple of bullets from the AR, one frag, and I'm down. Ugh.

I swear. I was doing well in Reach, going positive most of the time, but over the past several days I've been going negative far more than positive.

I've played over 200 games of the beta, I really have tried to make it work but it just won't too one sided just no fun at all. Maybe it has clicked for you guys but it just frustrates me whenever I play it.
