Halo: Reach Beta Thread

How does the frame rate hold up with all the players in invasion?

I'm talking heated battle scene, Not walking around shooting a dude here and there.

I can't speak to how Invasion is if you have a party going on. But just me joining a game by myself is really really boring.

The fuck? After playing Invasion, everything else in the Beta seems so bad in comparison. I can't believe I tolerated playing Stockpile on Sword Base or Oddball on Powerhouse for so long. This is Reach to me.

So it's should be okay for you to dislike things about the beta. But god forbid people dislike the thing's you like about it? :lol

I haven't had any problems

Looks like somebody skimmed over the "to me" part.

So what's so different about Invasion? The game plays exactly the same, there are just vehicles.

Holy shit i love invasion slayer. I betrayed like 2 or 3 people though D: i really didn't mean it i went to shoot a wraith shot at an elite and my friend in the banshee went to splatter the same elite at the same time... ended in disaster :lol

Nope, nothing is wrong.

Provisional Division assignments, like the ones you received, are derived from qualifying population. At some point you were Gold among those who'd qualified. Now, as more people have qualified you've moved back.

Among your 1550 or whatever yesterday, you probably laid a few eggs, those games counted, too.

Additionally, your daily rating doesn't take into account the quality of opponents (the formula is on bungie.net there's no value for 'Am I playing Steel or Onyx dudes'). So even in Steel - guys are going to have big games and put up 1700s - and that's good.

A high Day Rating is like being a great minor league pitcher, your Mom is proud, but you aren't on SportsCenter.
Wow, talk about crushed dreams. Minor leagues? I'm barely in the pee-wees. Mom just left pretending she doesn't know who I am. :(

Just played my first game, and it was as an Elite. And we won.

Yes, it is unbalanced toward the Spartans, which is ironically the opposite of what Bungie hinted at. The long-range weapons allow them to keep the Elites at a distance while the Elites dont really get weapons to counter them, so the added shields, health and speed arent as much of a factor.

That said, it's still fun.

The range on the Needler is a lot longer than I thought, so I had some success holding down Spartans with that, picking up their DMR, and going back to cloak to take my pot shots from the shadows.

A few thoughts about Invasion.

Spartans are overpowered.

The map is far too big for 6 v 6.

Why split a team up into 2's? It doesn't make sense

The Core return time is fucking stupid.

Don't want to spawn on your bro co-op style?

Anyway, I think one of the things about invasion that I'm slighty dissapointed with, is that the games don't seem to last very long. The first match I had were the elites won, went by so quickly, felt like it was shorter than the average arena game.
The second game was won in the at the very first objective by holding of the elites.

Heh, the first phase of invasion on spartan side reminds me of playing duck hunt with all those poor elites trying to make it across the no-man's land as they're getting picked off one by one.

Invasion is fuck awesome, and I'm playing alone, so I'd imagine it'd be even better when my friends sign on.

I have to say there's two big things that bother me about the beta but I hope it stops happening by the full retail release, the main thing is in objective games such as stockpile people just playing it like slayer and not going for flags, the other one is like that happened last night the other team going all staying in our flag area and just raising the kill count, I guess both points are the same but it really hurts those mods when people are playing like that.

So I stayed in a territory to unlock the second phase until it was filled, got what I thought was the go ahead to the next area, walked out of the territory, only to learn it wasn't filled and we lost (only a few seconds were left. Grrrrrr.

I think I just played a glitched match of Invasion Slayer. There were no loadouts, both teams spawned with ARs, and one of the territories was like messed up. It said 0 above it but the circle was gone and it wasn't moving.

Sweet. Got a link, and maybe a film?

Happened to me as well it fixed itself eventually though and then all of the reinforcements that didn't spawn appeared.

Edit: Forgot to save the film though.

Also there were no armor ablilities. Was kind of scary not being able to sprint away from elites wielding AR's in groups.

Read the part where you laughed at his opinion ":lol the fuck?"
That was more of a surprise that someone doesn't find it fun considering the match I just had. Laughing at how, despite one might find it a lot of fun, there's always someone out there who's not going to like it.

Are you playing it with a party where you are all talking? If so I can see why it would be very fun, but just playing it by myself on a team with no chatter is soo boring.

Invasion is so awesome it makes every other mode look terrible. But there are some stuff need to be sorted like quiting and respawning.
Also I managed to get my first splatter kill :D

Played 5 games in Invasion. I freaking love the gametype.

I need to get a vid of it, but on one game, when the Elites were trying to take the core, my team heard "Flag recovered!" a few times from the announcer.

I think I've cracked the code:

Guys winning first round of invasion : Invasion rocks!
Guys losing first round of invasion : Invasion sucks!

You have a lot of games in your History section. A lot more than you did for H3, and you can save it while searching for the next match. I absolutely adore this feature.

is it just me or is it cheap when u can go into armor lock and return the core at the same time :lol
AL doesn't last that long, and all it takes is someone to touch the flag/core and the timer will reset.

Not that bad, but yeah it can be annoying.

thanks, i'll save it now.

Just got done playing a few games of Invasion and Invasion Slayer. Elites are definitely getting the short end of the stick in vanilla Invasion. Invasion Slayer is like BTB Slayer on super-roids. It's amazing how the slow unlocking of better loadouts, weapons, and vehicles changes the overall fun factor.

My one complaint: it seems to take forever to spawn whether you are spawning on your battle bro (and he's not in combat) or spawning in one of the many sucky-far-away safe locations.

Other than that, it's nice to actually be a gunner on the Wraith. It does suck that you have to basically crawl up the damned tank to have the option to jump in the gunner seat though. I spent 30 seconds trying to figure out what magic button I had to hit while a teammate patiently waited for me to finish humping the tank, from his viewpoint.

Spawning in a turret is very, very cool, btw, Bungie. Love that.

WTF? i was playing a game of invasion as the elites and it went to black screen then i went to spawn and it would count down my respawn time then i would just spawn and die from nothing and it happened literally 6 times after one and other. Just a giant pile of my elite body? WTF

Forgive me then, but it did seem like you were belittling his opinion. He's not the only who doesn't like it that much. I'm not particularly fond of:

- The spawn times and spawn locations, particularly for elites.
- The original spawning weapons for elite
- Invasion slayer (6 vs 6 seems a little low for player count and you don't use enough of the map)
