I don't pull it off all the time because I suck, but..

Pistol works pretty good too.

Jetpack - you can fly away from him.
Sprint - you can sprint away from him.
Camo- you can hide from him.

There, now its balanced.

Well, technically if he has sprint, then sprinting away wont increase the distance....and you cant shoot while sprinting....and the lunge is still insane. :P

Good point though.

More Reach tonight? I still want my goddamn Gold back, even if it is the most infuriating game in the world.

I'm finding myself not even engaging enemies at longer range now because I just assume they will get into cover before I can kill them. I'd almost rather not even give away my position and instead just move into a better firing position. hrrmmm

Armor Lock: Use armor lock when they lunge. Shoot/ them with their weekend shields

Camo: Sneak near them them to get advantage when they come looking. If they stay in hiding grenade their ass.

Jetpack: Jet away and grenade. Use to get to a spot to pick them off.

Spring: ???? Pick better weapons? Sometimes Rock just beats scissors.

It is all situational but when the guy is a problem its easy enough to think about the situation to target him specifically. Typically I'll just play such that I'm not in a position for him to get me mostly by staying out of the building he is in. They tend to camp just inside a building so its easy enough to ignore them and take on his buddies 4 on 3. Hammer+Sprint is strong, just like shotty+camo on swordbase, but its not enough to ruin my day.

Haha that was awesome. You know that second guy was furious and probably posted in all caps on his Halo website of choice about how melee is broken. Good stuff.

In other news (news that is sure to be lost in the never-ending onslaught of complaints on HaloGAF right now), I haven't had this much fun with a Halo game since Halo 1. Not by a long shot. Skillful kills in Reach (to me) just feel so much more rewarding than they ever did in 2 and 3. My Invasion KApD ratio is 3.34 right now. Loves me some large battles in which to dong with my DMR.

Camo is very nearly useless in this game. The guy whose camo'd is always in the direct center of your radar disturbance... so now you know there's an invisi gimp nearby AND his approximate position. With that, it's not hard to spot the predator effect.

Edit: For this situation, I just take one of my lives and sacrifice it sticking the sprinting/rolling hammer asshole.

Yeah. The only person with radar disturbance should be the person using cloak and any nearby teammates. That way, the cloaker cant use his radar to gain position on enemies, while the enemies wont know he's coming.
 
It has been effective enough for me. I try to stay near enough my teamates so when I do use it I assume it has more of a disorienting effect. Using it in this way cammo has been pretty effective for me. I guess that doesn't nessessarily help in the hammer situation when alone. The winningnestest strategy for hammer guys is groups though. 2 camo guys, each with rockets... and lazers!!!! Yeah, thats the ticket! Just do that and hammers are no longer overpowered!

I'm the complete opposite. I shoot at guys accross the map even if I KNOW they'll make it to safety before i can land 5 shots. I regularly have the most assists in a game (just like Halo 3) because of it. I am the assist king! Long range harassment for the win :D

I'm the opposite, i never feel confident that i will kill someone with the pistol or DMR, especially with the pistol if i am in either a medium or close range battle.

Part of that is no doubt due to the reticle visibility which we know will be fixed, but i also can't seem to focus on both accurately aiming at the enemy and trying to control reticle bloom at the same time. Most of the kills i do have with the pistol are close range kills as i find it easier to just fire as fast as i can in that situation and hope for the best.

I freely admit to being an average player, but i am struggling to deal with this system at the moment, and it is taking out a lot of the fun factor for me to be honest.
 
Wow, that one is pretty rediculous, I can't decide if he got another shot, or if it was just a full half second you had to place your shot before dying.

I actually don't really mind simultaneous shoots within reason, I'd rather us both die than feel totally cheated out of a kill, but the time span you can hit those in this beta is too long.

Edit: Oh and yeah, Camo is the hardest to use effectively. I haven't really gotten the hang of it yet. I crouch walk with it all the time, I sneak around with it, and I try to be aware of my surroundings. It's still tough to use though. :-/
 
Thanks fellas. It's much harder to see on the low-res render but if you download the film and watch it in theater you can see the bullet fly from him during his death animation. :lol

If you get a revenge medal during a simultaneous beatdown, the host knew you were dealt a lethal shot and but gave you a cushion where you were able to kill them as well. If you're outside SWAT (where you get Close Calls) you'll be awarded a Close Call medal while you stare at the respawn screen if you killed him then he killed you during the delay.

It's pretty easy to tell who the host gave the traditional kill to.

Eh, that's just one of the glitches in the melee system, when they don't register. It has nothing to do with it being a hammer opponent. I can say from plenty of experience, that AL + beatdown will almost always give you a simultaneous beatdown. If you time it getting out of AL the moment his hammer swings through you, and the Halo gods are in a good mood, you'll come out with no shields.

I wish you could record a clip in slo-mo... I had to view it in slo-mo to tell, yeah, it was definitely a stick. The dude got a sticky medal for it. Edit: I popped out of AL cause I thought the nade would go flying off me.

And yeah, lag. That whole match was extremely laggy. The problem with their new netcode is that everything is so buttery, it's not entirely obvious you have a shit connection. Anyhow, the tie should go to the dude that's, you know... Invincible?

Sure, but I didn't see any medals in that vid. I don't know if you or him got the revenge medal.

They weren't too happy at the end of the game since they led pretty much since the beginning. It felt good to be on the opposite end of the ReachRage for once. :lol
 
Hey, anybody that scores what they consider perfect or impressive DMR kills, please post them so I can try and see what the hell Im doing wrong.

I dont see how I can vary so wildly from 4-shots to 20-shots within the span of a single game.
