Seems like an experiment to me. Now give us Spartan vs. Spartan 6v6+ in the final release!NameGenerated said:My 2 experiences with SvE tonight: Goddamn, Elites are so much better than Spartans it wasn't even close. First game was 50 to 25, 2nd was 50-33 I think, and they only had 3 players too. Just seems terribly unbalanced to me.

Thanks for that, you are the mang man.GhaleonEB said:Rendered. *thunk*
I hopped on for a bit to try out the changes, but the only tweak I got to test was the flag return. I didn't notice a big difference, but I think it seems about right. Mad defense, yo.
Played 4 1/2 games tonight, three of which were SWAT on Sword Base, alas. Did result in an amusing game of chicken, though. (Probably more amusing since I won.)
I keep up with most bungie info, thought the 19th was just speculation.randomlyrossy said:It's on Bungie.net, you can find the link (and the info) in the awesome OP which people apparently stopped reading 2 hours after this thread went up.
Were grenades balanced in the update?? :O (I haven't played post-update)GhaleonEB said:I hopped on for a bit to try out the changes, but the only tweak I got to test was the flag return. I didn't notice a big difference, but I think it seems about right. Mad defense, yo.

I've totally abandoned the Reach Beta for the APB Beta.

Btw, I suck solo, mostly because my framerate is all over the place, I need a card with more memory or more memory in general.
I'm using the EU launcher. I signed up through the EU section, so I guess I am on EU. :lolAjemsuhgao said:But which launcher are you going through? You can't sign into an EU account, on the NA servers..
Heh, I'll never be in the Onyx club - far too many awful days and even when I'm good I'm not that good - I'm just pleased it finally decided to give me a ranking before the beta endedPlywood said:Welcome to the club.

What matters is you try, even if you don't think its good enough. At least your not the guy who quits every-time a game starts when it wasn't the game-type he wanted.Darkflight said:Heh, I'll never be in the Onyx club - far too many awful days and even when I'm good I'm not that good - I'm just pleased it finally decided to give me a ranking before the beta ended
Joke post? The laser is an anti-vehicle weapon with sniper-like precision and a huge reticule/aim-assist. It kills any vehicle in one shot; it's a vehicle-combat killer. It's also redundant, and needs to be taken out, or nerfed considerably.Ajemsuhgao said:What exactly is wrong with the laser?
Demoncarnotaur said:Just got to use the Plasma turret in invasion. I really like the way in controls but I feel sooo slow. I really like the way it looks, and it seems pretty powerful.
My first game was terrible (stats on it are borked at the moment), so at the moment I'm pretty biased against it in it's current form. I started as a Spartan, and after the Elites scored the first few kills two of my teammates quit. Elites proceeded to take all of the power weapons and just slaughter us. I scored a whopping 4 points, and I thank the Halo gods that that I was able to melee-clash against the sword. Only having Sprint as an Armor Ability is just bad, in my opinion. Elites have a huge upper hand with their size and speed, and I'd like to see Spartans have more loadout choices.Kibbles said:How's the Spartans vs Elites mode in Grab Bag?
A little bit. I just thought it was something nice Bungie made for the beta.NOKYARD said:KEY 3H964VD432
From the cinematic opening for the BETA. Any idea what this is? Has it been discussed here yet?

What are the AA's for Elites in SvE?

I don't think so, but I did seem to go deaf for three or four seconds straight there. :lolLetters said:Were grenades balanced in the update?? :O (I haven't played post-update)
Starting at 00:55 like 5 grenades went off around you and you didn't die. Usually a single grenade in the same room as me meant death if I didn't have full health and shields.

I feel the same way. I only got to 41 in TS, doesn't mean I didn't try though. Never could get a good enough team to push forward, didn't have Tashi.NJ Shlice said:I was sad to find out that I landed Silver also.
However, if Onyx is less than 5% of the population and Gold will sit the upper echelon, then I would consider myself a top-tier silver player.
In Halo 3 my best rank achieved was a 45 in FFA. But seeing how so many people were able to achieve general, I feel like in Reach all Onyx and some Gold would have been generals. And I would fall just shy of that mark.
So I'm satisfied. But still going to try and pull out a Gold these past few days
Shake Appeal said:Finally dropped to Gold. The system works! :lol
I did too, but I wonder if it has more to do with me not having played for few days or if I would have dropped anyway.. it would be cool if we had some more insight into what rating is needed for the different divisions, but maybe they'll have that for the final game.Shake Appeal said:Finally dropped to Gold. I havn't seen it mentioned anywhere.DeadFalling said:WHOOO! Went up from Silver to Gold!
Originally got Onyx, then dropped to Silver, and now I'm back up to Gold.
Maybe I can work my way back up to Onyx before the beta is over? :lol
edit: Do we have any idea yet what percentage of the population each rank represents? I know Onyx = top 5% but what about the others?
mescalineeyes said:so I have 2 questions regarding the weapons in reach:
- How do you best go about using the AR? I just really don't see the point, I usually switch to the pistol right away.
- What use is the pistol when you pick up a DMR?
BladedExpert said:- AR is OK in a tight space (I guess). I usually spawn and press Y too.
- Pistol gets better the closer your enemy is (also fires faster). DMR gets better the further away your enemy is (higher level of zoom). Somewhere in the middle they match up pretty evenly. My ideal weapons are Pistol DMR. 1 for close range, 1 for long range.

1. Is it just me, or do Elites almost always win? I've played several games of this gametype, and I'm pretty sure that in every single game I've played, the Elites have won. That, or it's a vast majority of the time. This clearly shows that the gametype is heavily unbalanced. The only way I'm able to kill an Elite is if he's not paying attention to me, and I take him by surprise, or if I have some power weapon. I almost always lose firefights that involve the Elite shooting at me with a Nerfle and me at him with a DMR. I think this maybe a combination of the two facts that Elites have stronger shields than Spartans and the bloom on the DMR is much harder to control than the Nerfle's.
I really don't understand the lack of loadouts, especially for the weaker Spartans. Elites can almost catch up to a sprinting Spartan, and can easily catch one with a couple of evade rolls. I want to play more games with a decent (or even a full) team to give any real feedback, but I'm really not fond of the lack of loadouts for a clearly unbalanced gametype.Dax01 said:Alright. I think I've played enough of SvE Slayer to judge it.
What I Like:
1. One-grenade starts. Significantly helps with the spam, and I have less problems with grenades this way.
2. DMR/Nerfle starts, though I'm not sure why there is no AR/PR secondary.

Overall, I have to say I don't like this gametype.
