There are millions of whiny 5-year olds on Earth, and I AM THEIR KING.
There is no way to tell if there is an improvement in the graphics. I don't see how you guys can tell.

Absolutely motherfucking amazing. And to think that's all in-engine. :bow Bungie.

And the music! :D
Actually, I was also pretty unimpressed with the music. Coming from ODST, not even close to Marty's standard.

Graphics looked good. Hopefully they're going for a fully-realtime lighting engine. Faces looked great. And...

I want gameplay info!

Animation and modeling were clearly a step up. Can't really see much else until we get a better version.

Yea, I'm retarded for thinking a pre rendered clip that has nothing to do with what the game in motion will look like, is useless for what the game will look like... you know, when you're playing it. But oh noes, they used the warthog model and everything? This trailer shows as much about what the game is gonna be as the Halo 3 scene when they glass the planet.

You need to learn the meaning of "CGI" and "pre-rendered".

im saying you tried to disqualify someone using incorrect information, it isn't cg, you can call it pointless, stupid, boring, whatever, but it isn't cg.

The graphics show an incredible improvement, should be the best looking 360 game next year, but the cutscene itself was dull.

And yay, Elites are back (hardly any news, but it's always great to see one :D)

Haha is it a surprise that everyone who seems to be disappointed had invented crazy expectations like seeing Master Chief, gameplay, lots of action, a true trailer etc. when we've known for a long time what we would be seeing was a snippet of a cinematic of a game that will probably not have anything to with MC.

Was that honestly the opening cut scene of the game? Jeez. What happened to the Bungie that made the opening scene of Halo 2 and Halo 3?

You are not zooming enough. Come on. Also, are both from cutscenes?
Nope. Just looking for a quick comparison - that was just a google search image. :p

The lighting, etc. is different in the Halo 3 cinematics, but not the modeling, which is what I was pointing out. I'll be as surprised as anyone if the lighting is like that in-game.

Army of Two was the original Halo prequel?!

:O

Yeah, I shrugged when I saw that. This game is a prequel, right? Why add shit like this in prequel when it's no where to be seen on sequels? Sure, you can say "WELL MAYBE BECAUSE HE IS DEAD?" but yeah... w/e. Looks awesome.

They're Spartans.

Where does it say they are spartans? They have ODST helmets and apparently connected directly to ONI. Some of them are kinda hurr hurr huge but I don't see anything to signify spartan.

"Spartans do not die. They are just M.I.A." or some shit like that is said in the trailer...

As a huge Halo fanboy, I found the Reach trailer incredibly underwhelming and bland. I have no doubt the game will be awesome (It's Bungie. Come on.), but man ... not even Marty's score was particularly interesting and that guy could score a game about paint drying in a manner so epic that god himself would descend from the heavens to say, "Kudos."

What's that thing amongst the clouds right after the helicopter/chinook lifts off? Like a massive curved structure. Around the 2:40 mark in the YouTube video.

Do you know that for a fact though? I mean was he not in the book? No focus there? I mean they are specifically talking about the Spartans in this trailer.

I saw it in HD and the graphics are a very nice step up from Halo 3. That skybox at the end was stunning. Bungie still isn't that great at modeling human faces though.

As for the content of the trailer itself, a little unexciting. I think back to the Halo 2 reveal trailer and it was like "Oh shit, Earth is totally fucked" and Halo 3's reveal had all those banshees in the sky and everything and felt epic. This was mostly just a bunch of dudes walking around spouting off cliche dialogue - had a sort of Gears/Army of Two vibe.

Yeah, it seems they are using more polys in the models this time around. However, it could just mean that their mesh streaming tech improved and that the are replacing the models on the go before the cut scenes. Sorry, I just don't want to get my hopes up.

It didn't crash. The guy paused it. Pretty good way to troll the 2000 people watching.

Oh well. I can wait for it to be uploaded I guess. What I saw looked good though. I agree about the CG comments being a great compliment though. :lol

Nah, there was the justin.tv feed, and there was the livestream.com feed, I was watching the livestream one and it started to stutter when the Warthog was driving, and straight-up crashed when going through the squad - arrrrrrrrrrgggggggh.

And after all these years, why is it still so hard to understand the difference between in-engine, in-game and CG? Here's a hint - there is no difference between the first two, aside from camera angles + HUD and first-person models. It is the game you're playing, just not at a gameplay angle.

Come on now.

EDIT: In case it wasn't posted, here's a link - http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_zZFOuCZdvA - watching it now myself...

Did we come up with a new name for non-gameplay footage? Ok, it's a cutscene that may be using in game models, is that better?

Uh now how did i know this thread would turn into a mess. :lol

The cinematic was good, showed just enough to whet my appetite.

They can save the actual trailer for next year.

lol what? In engine and in game is much more than taking away the hud and moving the camera around.

I don't know about that, aren't cinematics able to pull off more because they don't have to worry about dealing with control input?

Don't know why you people are arguing to whether it's in-game or whether it will look like that at retail. You're not going to find that out for a while so why waste the energy? The important stuff, like the tone of the story and hints to gameplay is ready to be analysed.

On seeing him clearer, I now have nothing but hate for stupid Mr Skull-on-Helmet.

It was one team of Spartans talking about another group. One of them was named George. The lady was wearing blue. This leads me to believe they are the Blue Spartan group. /limited knowledge of Reach.

People were complaining about how big this thread became with so little info to talk about. Apparently it wasn't big enough since what little info we had to go on (cut-scene, no real gameplay shown) was completely ignored.

No. They are NOT the same. In a cutscene you can divert resources that are necessary for AI and physics and everything else needed while you're actually playing to gussy up the cutscenes. See: every game ever.

Bungie showed what they said they were going to show.

Looks alright. Faces are better but seemed like weird plastic mannequins in the youtube trailer. Better than the mashed potato faces of H3 and ODST, but still a little jarring. Models certainly look more detailed, but the environment shown there was really sparse and boring. And again, could have been the youtube-quality vid, but the colors looked very washed out.

Anyway, I'm excited for it. Animations especially looked great.
