Any idea what the hell Urk is talking about? Some logistical info about an amount of time or angle or distance from one point to another? Like distance from one territory to another? Or to the flag drop point, or the skull drop point, etc.
Player count.....and it was
[current total]/512!! :D

lol - maybe elevation, but that's already in the HUD I thought?

Don't mind the HORRIBLE text - I was working really fast, with crappy tools. :)

The same two guys kept coming around with a hog... and dying.
I read the first sentence of your post and clicked, expecting it to be you failing over and over with the BR. Which would also make you feel like Ghaleon - that's why I hunt vehicles. :lol

Bravo, Wu. :D

Ugh, that Astro headset and mixamp is so sexy. But so expensive. :(

I might get the Tritton AX Pro.

Question: Do most headsets have the option to remove the mic? I noticed that the Tritton one is removable.

Good luck with organising any sort of tournament. Most people forget the Online section exists, pity. I'd be up for anything, as usual , fun times.

Congrats team HaloGAF!

I hope if the player count in Reach is raised that they allow you to use the transport hog in MP. It would be awesome to load up a warthog with 5 or 6 guys and then rush the other teams base and capture their flag.

Yeah, but Bungie's net code is God awful. I get a shit ton of lag in Big Team Battle, but none in typical 4v4 matches.

If Bungie can get their lag handled, I don't see why they wouldn't have the option for 24 players, if just for custom games.

Really? I only get lag maybe every 8 or 9 games in big team.

It's not nearly as bad as it was in Halo 2. Halo 2 was the worst, but it's still noticeable enough here where I question Bungie's ability to implement a stable system for more than 16 players.

I've never really had an issue with btb... Maybe it's because I'm not american and am used to playing yellow games anyway but btb doesn't seem any more laggy than other playlists.

Gotta say I recently picked up the Astro set and it has been worth it so far for me, just for the mixamp alone. The headset is nice if you're looking for something really comfortable and decent sounding with a mic, but I'm sure sound quality wise there are better options. (Maybe not with a built in mic? who knows)

As far as a removable mic goes, the Astro headset has that too. I dont think it's very popular though, cheaper headsets for sure just have it permanently attached.

Nice video.

Makes me wonder if the lighting in Reach will be as good as Halo 3. Did they can the whole HDR/LDR effects in Reach to free resources for other stuff?

I bought a Tritton AX Pro after PAX. Initially I was deciding between the A40's the the AX Pro, but went with the AX Pro just because its cheaper (initial setup is a bitch, though). Never used an A40 so I don't know if its better or worse, but the AX Pro is what is says it is, which would be a good set of surround sound gaming headphones.

Also, hearing people's voices over the game is not a problem, if that was a concern of yours. You'll still be talking in an unnecessarily loud voice because you can't hear yourself talk.

I know it's way late to bring this up again, but...

Pretty sure that instant return is available in the Flag options.

It's 3 second return and you can return the flag through walls and stuff ><]
I was right, instant return is in the Flag options. I took a couple of crappy photos of my TV, but it's barely legible. It's there, though. :-b

and wow @ slave Leia. That will stay with me for a while.

With the creation of un-classic flag they added a huge radius to what was considered being "on" the flag. The result is if you set the flag return to 0 seconds someone can return it just by being in the huge radius.

I think the first time we figured this out was when the first half of the mythic maps came out and we wanted to do two flag classic on Assembly. It was pretty funny because someone would be juggling the flag and if someone on the other team got remotely close to the flag runner it would just disappear mid-juggle. Funny as that was it's also a bummer, can't play real flag because of it.

MLG obviously knew about this and that's why they keep their flag settings as low as possible without it being instant; 3 seconds. Magni was somewhat correct, the lowest setting isn't 3 seconds but you can still return it through walls and stuff.

Like Eazy said.. there is no "touch" return. The instant return is so bad that a person on the third floor of ghost town can return a flag that is on the ground. And the 3 second return starts counting down as soon as a person sets foot into its invisable area around the flag.

Hm. I was just playing a few games today too (Team Throwback and then a few BTB) and while the Throwback was flawless, BTB had some lag issues in two of them. What evs

Ahh, it's all so clear to me now. I knew bomb was horribly broken for MLG, but had no idea that the invisible (why the hell is it invisible in forge, Bungie?) flag radius was so huge. Congrats, Magni; we're both right and still lose. :-\

One more thing to wish for with Reach forge. Thanks for the info, guys.

I haven't said this, but I've been thinking it for awhile now. It seems that, because Reach looks to be having a much smoother development cycle and is farther along than Halo 3 was at this point in the development cycle, we could see Reach in early September. Well, at the very least, earlier than Halo 3's release date.

That'd work for me. Little bit of summer left to gorge myself on fucking videogames while the sun's out.

Though it probably is best for sales, I still woulda loved it if it came out day-in-date with the next CoD game Activision shits out this year.

Yeah, from the videos it seems like they're about two weeks ahead of where they were in Halo 3's development.

Don't expect any official confirmation. E3 is the best bet of when they'll set it in stone but to be honest September seems quite likely.

Not related at all, but I wonder what the post release content support will be like and I am also interested if we'll see any form of Waypoint integration (seems likely).

GAME FACE

Give me a couple of months to get the reflexes back on point. The last few times I've logged on and tried to play something that requires you know, skill, I've been beaten like a red-headed stepchild. MLG FFAs? Oh god... It was not pretty.
Don't sell yourself short, you did alright when we were all playing last time.

Yeah, I'd completely forgotten it was included since it's so broken.. Wonder what the reasoning behind that decision was, I wouldn't mind a Post Mortem on the way Objectives were handled from Halo 2 to Halo 3. One of the rare changes I appreciated was changing Ball and Hill scoring from time to points, since it allows for more options, but the max setting is way too low (250 "seconds" ...). The changes to Flag, Bomb, and Territories I'd love to know why they were done.

Reach on the 14th of September? My Fall term is gonna be really tough.. :lol

Therms, Nutter and I were talking about this last night and I was wondering what everyone else thought:

Wouldn't it be nice if we got one last Halo 3 map pack like there was with Halo 2 when the Halo 3 Beta launched? Maybe 343i could be the developers of said map pack like Certain Affinity was for the last Halo 2 map pack. It'd be nice considering after the Halo: Reach Beta ends :)(), everyone will migrate back to Halo 3 until Halo: Reach's retail release.

The maps we unanimously voted on were Ivory Tower and Headlong remakes. :D

That the stuff dreams are made from.

I doubt it will happen as I'm sure we would have heard about it by now, but it'd be a nice surprise if we suddenly got an E3 announcement of an externally developed map pack send off for Halo 3.

Don't want to waste time with remakes (save those sorts of demands for Reach's DLC) though, it would be interesting to see some folks come up with fresh ideas for new Halo 3 maps (using a real map designing software instead of Forge lulz).
