I wonder if we get to fight an older Arbiter. They must have sent one down to Reach during the event no?

So good. As long as they make sure the IQ is solid this be a real visual treat.urk said:http://admin.bungie.net/images/Games/Reach/vga/Bungie_REACH_1280x720_inline.jpg

Good one, Bungie.

The demo shifted away from the crater to the part of the level you see the Master Chief walking in from. He was controllable, which means that the trailer indicates just how good the game will look. Lehto was able to zoom in on the Master Chief with the camera, and you could see the many different ways light reflected objects onto him. For example, you could see light reflect off the ground and onto his armor. A new materials system shows the difference between his armor and the rubber undersuit. It's so detailed that if you bring the camera close to the Master Chief's visor, you see everything in front of him reflected in it, right down to the ammo counter in his rifle.
The demo was realtime, Bungie didn't pull it off in Halo 3, but who's to say Reach can't be different? You could clearly see the jaggies. No one in there right fucking mind makes CG jaggies, fuck. :lol
I'm done with you,
[IMG]http://i49.tinypic.com/fy0e4o.jpg
Of course it may not looked as dynamic in first person gameplay, but you suggested it isn't as impressive looking as the E3 Halo 3 trailer. That's just an ignorant statement.thekad said:Yeah, Bungie/Microsoft would never purposely mislead us. They're good people.

Who is "they"? As far as I know (and I may be wrong) only Geoff Keighley said that it was realtime. It's *not* realtime, it just can't be. No aliasing = not realtime, it's that simple.voltron said:So theyre just lying huh?
Deception is extremely common in te gaming industry. But theyre not just gonna outright lie dude.

Bungie didn't pull it off in Halo 3
I'm assuming so. That means a pass of AA and AF so it still doesn't quite tell us what the IQ of the game in motion will be like.Domino Theory said:Was that new screenshot of #6 taken using Theater mode?

The Halo 3 teaser trailer we got from b.net or xboxlive wasn't realtime either, it was a high resolution render of a realtime cutscene (they showed it in realtime at the press conference though), this could very well be the case here too. So it could be running in realtime, but not at that IQ level.
thekad said:So you come to the logical conclusion that this time will be different. I see.
LCfiner said:legit question: is that possible with something simple like 2X MSAA? or is this trailer pulling off more than that?
Yeah, antialiasing looks higher than MSAAx4 and it looks like the entire screen got AFx16 treatment.Blimblim said:Who is "they"? As far as I know (and I may be wrong) only Geoff Keighley said that it was realtime. It's *not* realtime, it just can't be. No aliasing = not realtime, it's that simple.

as long as it's 720p, then i'm happy. i must be the only one who doesn't really care about aa (although i sorta should)Proelite said:It's definitely not CG, which is all I care about. If the end result is 720 with 2 x AA, then mission accomplished Bungie.

Times change and engines are new. *shock and awe* Look I could be wrong, but your already doubting it, when they said it was in-engine, when OWV, said it was in-engine. http://www.neogaf.com/forum/showpost.php?p=18866927&postcount=1699thekad said:... I give up.
If they get this to run at 720p with 2x AA I'll be mightily impressed by the engine. Don't get me wrong, as a lighting whore I think this trailer looks awesome, I'm only saying that it just can't run in realtime on any console hardware with that IQ level.clashfan said:This is pretty nuts. First we get people saying the new engine looks terrrible and now we get people saying it looks too good to be in-engine. I love it.

I mean if you can't trust a drunk, naked and uncooperative person, then who can you trust?
This is where it all starts, so pre-Halo.Phaethon0017 said:In the trailer they mention Pegasi. It was my understanding that that incident with the Spartan 3s happened after Halo 2 (or at least Halo 1). Not to mention the style of the Helmet with that skull on it. Are we sure this is in fact pre-Halo, or am I out of the loop and/or confused?

i'm excited the face modeling looks significantly better

By the way, I can make out the chick's name in the 720p video: Kat.
Yes and no. Sub HD resolution add a whole blur to the image that's really unpleasant on big TVs, plus a new level of jaggies of course.voltron said:Caring about something being 720p while at the same time claiming NOT to care about AA makes no sense at all dude.
Think about it.
