Not sure what the point of this trailer was. I still don't understand the point of a co-op Halo. Has Bungie never met their community? Who would want to play with those people?
:lol First night of H3 and ODST, I booted up the game, had a friend split-screen with me, and my two cousins on their box, and we went through the whole campaign. It's a blast, and definitely one of the most enjoyable things you can do in Halo.

It looks like there's some film filter effect like we see in Left 4 Dead.
It does help make things look more real.
After looking at it more I don't think we'll see that sort of IQ in game.
I don't doubt the lighting or textures...Halo 3 had great lighting and textures.
But you look at the super crisp lens flares and the high res shadows and the overall crispness and it's straightforward to me that we shouldn't expect that sort of IQ in game.
There is NO way the actual gameplay is going to look like that at all. I just watched online in HD, the IQ was the stuff of dreams. I wish I had never seen this, the end result will be some jaggy mess.

...but I'm pretty positive that's damn close to how it would look if it was on an Xbox.
Would color matter if that class had faster movement speed, and a cloaking device? I mean those advantages would be logical IF this is a class based game with class specific perks.
+ Great graphics and drastically better character models. I was always distracted by the horrendous faces in Halo 3 and ODST's cutscenes. It's good to know the humans in Reach will actually look human.
+ Much improved animation.
+ Perfect music. But then, it's Marty.

Elite! It's been forever since I fought one of you. Can we have hugs before you chop my head off?
- Boring scene in a boring setting. Even as a teaser, this left me cold.
- Not even a hint of gameplay info.
- The color palette looked a bit muted, but then it was a dark scene, and there were no Covenant vehicles or greenery to reference. I don't mind if Reach is a bit desaturated, but I'd hate to see Bungie's artists limit themselves to the dismal earthy tones that mar so many other shooters.

Nope. Chances are, the actual cutscenes on the 360 won't even look that clean.
Damn, those screens look good! It looks like they might be using the same technique that ND does for the Uncharted cutscenes (in-engine, higher IQ, pre-recorded). Good choice, perhaps that means no load times as well?
That .25 will be way more evolution than the majority of FPS's achieve during multiple generations when it comes to gameplay. Therefore, I don't give shit if the game looks bad, it will still be my favorite game.
It is just that people forget so easily. It is freaking annoying to see how little it takes to convince you guys after the previous dissapointment.
Hmmm...at the end those "Hawks," or whatever you guys are calling them at the moment, are heading in the direction of that Covenant ship. A little boarding action for a first mission?

Probably my own fault for imagining that the trailer would show me something badass, but it was just boring a lifeless.
I don't care about whether the graphics were good or not (I don't think they looked especially great), I was just hoping to see something that would pump me up for Reach
The only good part was that Elite at the end, he looked sexy.

Seems like the tech for outstanding human faces are there (shaders, texturing etc), it's just the artistic touch is either missing, or is done like this intentionally. It could also just be a WIP.

So who confirmed this to be all real time/ in-engine?
Any word from bungie om the matter?
All those fancy graphics won't matter if it has the image quality of Halo 3. Trailer looked good, but I'm pretty much expecting the same thing over again just to not be disappointed.
Yeah, the confirmation is a few pages back. It is a cutscene though, so Anti Aliasing and other layers of effects that improve the image quality are applied.
Bungie will only say that it is in-engine. Don't get your hopes up. Do you really expect Bungie to say "oh yeah btw, the actual graphics don't look this good"? Wait for the beta to judge the graphics. Think of today's trailer as an intro to the story, rather than a technical showcase. Those who can tell the amazing improvement in graphics, are fooling themselves IMHO.

If the gameplay gets close to that level of detail (with no jaggyz) I will be very happy. Although I'm preparing myself for disappointment. Looks like a good deal of the engine has been changed too, the lighting looks hot, as do the new effects and whatever they have going on with the textures now.
First the trailer doesnt impress.. then when the HD feed comes out, you say that it cant be real.
So if Bungle actually tries to improve their game, you guys will doubt them, but if they dont then you guys will mock them because they suck at graphics... WTF..
Just watched the 720p trailer and oh my fucking god that looked amazing.
But you're kidding yourselves if you EXPECT Reach to like that while playing.
But to be honest, as long as it's an improvement on Halo 3 (which I'm 99% it will be), then I'm happy.
It's pretty clear that even if you take away the IQ/AA in the trailer, there's a BIG jump in both models and animation. Maybe even the lighting? (if that's possible).
That's good enough as far as I'm concerned. Getting that sort of improvement on the Halo 3 engine while STILL having 4 player split-screen/online, AND Forge AND Photo/Video mode, and all the haters can go and fuck themselves.
If they can truly improve on Halo 3 NOTICEABLY while keeping Halo 3's engine characteristics and feature set, then every FPS out there just got owned.
The avatar on GAF shows up as 90 x 120.. and I increased the brightness and colors of that scene.. since the original was hard to see at that resolution.
