So far it seems like they are fixing exactly all that.Iknos said:Maybe you weren't awed because of some of the lighting conditions were fairly ordinary when in some cases they were spectacular. I'll agree that some levels were a very different quality than others. But the engine stands as having some of the best lighting thus far. I'm not just talking about the HDR and LDR in action I'm talking about all the other snazzy effects like the bloom and fog. One article mentioned that in Reach the ground lights up your character...that was in Halo 3 as well.
The resolution of Halo 3 was ass and it totally ruined the game. The hand animated characters look horrible as well. And the faces...butt ugly. The weapons could have used more fancier multitexturing and could have looked much better. The lighting on the other hand was heavenly.

There are more polygons now but the characters still have poopface.Nutter said:So far it seems like they are fixing exactly all that.
Full Res, Motion Cap Animation, better human face modeling, and weapons look to be remodeled and retextured.

There is no indication of them fixing the resolution. Digital Foundry just pointed out that the trailer is in-engine but obviously rendered offline which means that it is rendered either on different hardware at a higuer res, or rendered on the 360 at 1080p at an incredibly low framerate and then the frames are pieced together.Nutter said:So far it seems like they are fixing exactly all that.

Stop saying completely fucking stupid shit. Dude.godhandiscen said:What is sad is that shit might as well just be CG. In-engine is the fucking same as every other CG cutscene there, just with better lighting. Remember the Uncharted 2 cutscenes, and how they are in-engine? It is the same.
So you think that was running on one 360 on real time? :lol No chance.Vast Inspiration said:Stop saying completely fucking stupid shit. Dude.
Every studio does the same shit* But unlike you I believe Bungie when they say they are using a new Engine, so I am confident the game will "look" like what the trailer showed.godhandiscen said:So you think that was running on one 360 on real time? :lol No chance.
Check this video, and read the info to see how the technique works, and find out why Bungie is being deceiving their fans again.

I do believe it is a new engine. It is just that it won't look anywhere near as good as what we have been shown. The trailer was pre-rendered, period. That is the end of it.Nutter said:Every studio does the same shit* But unlike you I believe Bungie when they say they are using a new Engine, so I am confident the game will "look" like what the trailer showed.
*how do you think all these games pull/do crazy things in their cutscenes. That shit wouldnt work in gameplay.
Ghost said:Had a few days to sit on my reaction to this, it basically hasn't changed, I'm pretty disappointed. Feels a lot like Bungie resting on their laurels, they've come out and said that ODST was the nebulous game that wasn't quite a spin-off or a whole new thing, but Reach goes firmly in the 'new thing' category. Then they reveal it with carbon copy Halo reveal trailer, and expect everyone to go ape shit because "OMG MORE SPARTANS!!".
I guess they don't really need to do more than that, everything they release on this game over the next 12 months is going to be poured over regardless of how derivative it is. I suppose I was just hoping that as possibly their final Halo game, or as the game that's going to launch them into independence, they'd want to show that they can do more than just riff on what they've done before. Maybe the game will do that, but revealing the game this way doesn't really give me a lot of confidence.

godhandiscen said:buh buh teh new AA & AF technique... I have been saying this for a while now, but you can't help people getting hyped up.
godhandiscen said:Oh really? offline rendering IS NOT REAL TIME.
godhandiscen said:The day is not here yet. Wait for the game to reach the announcement trailer graphics, then I will have nothing to say.
godhandiscen said:Even a regular video capture card will get rid of some AA. The cut scenes in the final game will not look that crisp. People are setting themselves for dissapointment, again.
godhandiscen said:Gameplay Evolution is the only thing I can always trust Bungie with. Also, you don't know a flying fuck about what happened in E306 "Mr. Killzone Avatar". Bungie never showed CG for Halo 3. It is just that the engine showed in the announcement trailer saw a massive downgrade. I am still a skeptic about gameplay matching these graphics, however, spouting BS is not something I will do.
godhandiscen said:Yeah, the confirmation is a few pages back. It is a cutscene though, so Anti Aliasing and other layers of effects that improve the image quality are applied.
godhandiscen said:That .25 will be way more evolution than the majority of FPS's achieve during multiple generations when it comes to gameplay. Therefore, I don't give shit if the game looks bad, it will still be my favorite game.
It is just that people forget so easily. It is freaking annoying to see how little it takes to convince you guys after the previous dissapointment.
godhandiscen said::lol
There is NO way the actual gameplay is going to look like that at all. I just watched online in HD, the IQ was the stuff of dreams. I wish I had never seen this, the end result will be some jaggy mess.
godhandiscen said:Nope. Chances are, the actual cutscenes on the 360 won't even look that clean.
godhandiscen said:No, not fair, it can only go up from the Beta. I am just hoping Bungie doesn't pull another "Halo 3 E306 reveal announcement."
godhandiscen said:Ok, so I want to be the first skeptic here. How big of a downgrade do you think the actual gameplay graphics will be in terms of quality from what we just saw today?
I am not saying that what we saw today were gameplay graphics, but how much worse than this will the gameplay graphics look like? There is no chance in hell than gameplay graphics will look this good (which is sad because this vid wasn't that impressive). What do you guys think?
godhandiscen said:Yeah, it seems they are using more polys in the models this time around. However, it could just mean that their mesh streaming tech improved and that the are replacing the models on the go before the cut scenes. Sorry, I just don't want to get my hopes up.
godhandiscen said:You are not zooming enough. Come on. Also, are both from cutscenes?
godhandiscen said:There is no way to tell if there is an improvement in the graphics. I don't see how you guys can tell.
NemesisPrime said:Yeah Halo 4 is going to be an MMO platformer were you ALL play female unicorns in MJOLNIR armor and fight covenant mushrooms.
Seriously.... it is Halo... it is an FPS... sometimes I worry about some of you. Also play Myth!!!

If I could I'd give you an Internet Hero award to carry with you wherever you go. Thing is I can't, so you may as well stop this campaign of yours. Let the people believe what they want to believe, I can assure you they won't get angry with you for letting them get their hopes up.

As am I. But if he was going to change anyone's minds he already did so 10 attempts ago and the subsequent attempts just serve to annoy everyone else. And as a rule of thumb, constantly trying to convince people they should be as hyped as they are (about any aspect of a game) should just be avoided in all situations.Shake Appeal said:I'm with godhandiscen on this one, seriously. xxjuicesxx said:Although I think perhaps the game might look like that in one part, there's no way in hell a 360 can maintain that consistently. Shit will set on fire inside that box. For fucks sake the 360 can barely run Halo 3 at an acceptable framerate.

Prine said:Really? I didnt think it looked spectacular at all. Im sure they're capable of throwing a game with those visuals.
Shake Appeal said:Oh, it'll definitely be an improvement, but I find Bungie's use of "real-time, in-engine!" to be very disingenuous, both historically and here.
:lol :lol :lolxxjuicesxx said:On the same hardware. Newer versions NEVER do. FACT!
Its why PC gaming is expensive. Newer faster stuff needed all the time. To accommodate larger worlds more expansive gameplay and of course killer gfx.
