ROCK BAND™ MUSIC STORE SPRINGS TO LIFE WITH NEW MUSIC FROM ARCTIC MONKEYS, AVENGED SEVENFOLD, AND FOO FIGHTERS!

Cambridge, Mass. – January 12th, 2015 – Harmonix today announced that new tracks from Arctic Monkeys, Avenged Sevenfold, and Foo Fighters are headed to the Rock Band™ Music Store of downloadable content for the Xbox 360® video game and entertainment system from Microsoft and the PlayStation®3 computer entertainment system.

Rock Band provides the deepest and best selection of artists, songs and albums through the Rock Band music platform, which features more than 1,400 artists and more than 3,500* tracks via disc and download purchase (complete list of tracks at www.rockband.com/songs). Rock Band’s gigantic music library dwarfs that of any other rhythm video game on the market. More than 100 million songs have been sold through the Rock Band Music Store since its launch on Nov. 20, 2007.

Tracks downloaded from the Rock Band Music Store are compatible with the award-winning full-band Rock Band 3 experience, as well as the controller-based rhythm-action title, Rock Band Blitz, available now on PlayStation®Network and Xbox LIVE® Arcade!

Rock Band DLC Additions for Xbox 360 and PlayStation®3 system

On Tuesday, January 13th, new music from Arctic Monkeys, Avenged Sevenfold, and Foo Fighters will hit the Rock Band Music Store!

“R U Mine?” marks the first appearance of the Grammy Award winning Arctic Monkeys on the Rock Band platform. From 2013’s critically acclaimed album AM, “R U Mine?” – with its driving riffs, syncopated rock beats, and memorable hook – is perfect for Artic Monkeys’ Rock Band debut.

One of the most fan requested artists, Avenged Sevenfold, makes their return to Rock Band with “Shepherd Of Fire.” The track comes from the band’s sixth studio record, 2013’s Billboard chart-topping Hail to the King.

Foo Fighters’ “Something From Nothing” from the band’s latest, 2014’s Sonic Highways, will also be available for download. Heard in the opening sequence of the hit HBO music documentary series Sonic Highways, directed by Foo Fighters’ frontman Dave Grohl, “Something From Nothing” topped the charts when it was released last October.

Available on Xbox 360 and PlayStation®3 system (January 13th, 2012):

• Arctic Monkeys – “R U Mine?”
• Avenged Sevenfold – “Shepherd Of Fire”
• Foo Fighters – “Something From Nothing”

Price:
$1.99 USD, £.99 UK, €1.49 EU per song

(These tracks will be available in Europe on PlayStation®3 system January 14th)

** Dates for Rock Band game tracks are tentative and subject to change. **

What the heck? Wow.

Don't know if I can go back to Rock Band anymore. I remember getting RB Blitz so I could continue to enjoy my songs without lugging out the instruments and that was kind of 'blah' for me.

Could they announce some new runs of instruments so I don't need to pay an ungodly amount to get a full set together again?

Also, R U Mine is cool and all, but if I'm going to play an Arctic Monkeys song in Rock Band I want to play Brianstorm on drums.

Didn't Harmonix end up having a dispute with Viacom over this series? Does the DLC get self-published or how does that work?

Harmonix won the lawsuit that they got hit with and ended up with a pretty healthy payday. Harmonix has always done their own wheeling and dealing for DLC, so nothing really changed.

I already sold my instruments for the game, but I wonder if there are going to be some future implications for starting things back up again.

Viacom sold Harmonix back in 2010. There was a lawsuit about bonuses which may be what you're thinking of, but Harmonix has owned the Rock Band IP ever since the sale.

Wow! I've been meaning to grab RB Blitz on PS3 for some time, maybe I should. What stops me is the fact that I'd need to buy a lot of DLC. And I don't know if there's any way of getting the RB2 and 3 tracks without owning said games (only have them on Wii).

I never got to play drums because when I picked up my set (drums never used), the Xbox thinks the drums are a guitar.

they announce new rockband and allow us to download all purchased content for nothing:day zero

until then I will not dust off the drumset and guitars for the arctic monkeys...thanks

The fuck is going on? How are we back.

Wait, we're back!

HOLY SHIT!

All they ever had to do was do more licensing. One of the reasons they stopped in the first place was they ran out of songs, which is why the final weeks were typically limited to three songs, often singles, to help stretch out their remaining licenses. That's why it's interesting they would be starting up again, since it suggests that they've got a new batch of licenses in the pipeline, and I can't imagine it's just for the sake of guys still playing on their 360s and PS3s.

Even though I'm not interested in any of these songs, I'm super excited they're releasing new stuff.

I bet this is some sort of test or trial run to see if people are interested in the series still.

Say what? I've been putting more hours lately into RB3, and was hoping they could bring more DLC. I wonder if they'll be releasing more DLC? I hope this is the year for either a new Rock Band or Guitar Hero.

Next-gen Rock Band coming up.

That would be amazing, though unfortunately I don't see how DLC could transfer at this point. I really wish they'd gotten in with a bigger publisher that could have maintained a platform-independent song library. I might get an XBox One, though, if it means being able to transfer my old 360 songs.

Oh nice, I recently got back into Rock Band 3. Now if they could only make it possible to get the Rockband 1 & 2 tracks on my RB3 game since I have seem to of missed the boat on that.
