Next get Rock Band please. Hell, just release 1-3 on PS4/X1 with a few new songs and call it good. I just want a rerelease of the plastic instruments, because I can't seem to find decently priced ones anywhere.

OH YEAH!!!!!

R U Mine is mine

Please say this is a sign for next gen rock band. I will spend another 200 for new instruments.

Can't say I saw this coming. Pretty good timing too since I recently got back into the Guitar Hero/Rock Band games.

The flight plan I just filed with the agency list me, my men, Dr. Pavel here. But only one of you!
Also, R U Mine is cool and all, but if I'm going to play an Arctic Monkeys song in Rock Band I want to play Brianstorm on drums.

All they ever had to do was do more licensing. One of the reasons they stopped in the first place was they ran out of songs, which is why the final weeks were typically limited to three songs, often singles, to help stretch out their remaining licenses. That's why it's interesting they would be starting up again, since it suggests that they've got a new batch of licenses in the pipeline, and I can't imagine it's just for the sake of guys still playing on their 360s and PS3s.

Actually, I wonder if it's because of Amplitude rather than a new RB straight out.

That would be amazing, though unfortunately I don't see how DLC could transfer at this point. I really wish they'd gotten in with a bigger publisher that could have maintained a platform-independent song library. I might get an XBox One, though, if it means being able to transfer my old 360 songs.
I see what you mean, but IMO I could easily see your DLC transfer over. It wouldn't be for all songs, but they would basically have to license every song for next gen consoles. They might have actually done that if they're gonna be releasing a RB4 this year.

Yay for more Rock Band (DLC)! Whether or not all the stuff I bought on last-gen carries over to current gen systems (of which I currently own none) will be a make-or-break thing for me concerning the future of games like this, and buying DLC in general. I've spent so much on these tracks it would be unconscionable to think about losing them forever at some point.

I'm screwed if this happens. I switched platforms, all my old DLC is tied down to Xbox.

Same here. I have a Wii U and PS4. I've never owned all consoles from a given generation, but this might be enough to get me to buy back in. With that said, I don't have as much expendable money as I used to in the RB days.

Oh boy, I wish that "all [we] ever had to do was do more licensing." MAN. That would be cool. :)

Is this real life?

Rock Band 3 is probably the single best reason for me to keep my Xbox 360 plugged in and patched.

What happened to the end of DLC? Remember the release of that Don McLean song?

DETAILS! I NEED THEM!

Well I mean, we agonize over what songs to put in the game, we then have someone go out to see if there's any interest in the band/label licensing the songs, we then negotiate that, we then convince them to give us audio stems for the tracks, we then have a team of folks spend hours/days/weeks authoring the tracks for the game, we then have a team doing QA on said tracks, we then have a team submitting the final content to both platforms and managing that process, we then have a small marketing team dealing with any associated assets (for the marketplace, for online promo videos, whatever else), and then we have a PR team preparing to make sure press and such knows about the tracks, and then we have teams continue to promote said tracks.

IT'S A WHOLE THING, YOU GUYS.

Happy we can do it, though. Excited about the opportunity with the three tracks we just released; cool to dust ourselves off to see if we can still do it. We can! New songs tomorrow!

You mean you need actual people to chart, master, and test 4 different difficulties for between 4 and 8 different instruments for every single song you release? Psh, no big deal.

Edit: Beaten.

Great that more tracks are coming again, but damn, am I ever totally uninterested in the three bands on offer.

What the fuck?

Do I even have an Xbox 360 anymore?

I think I do.

Rock Band is pretty much the only use I still have for my 360 which I bought in 2006. It has red-ringed once, so it's newer hardware but still probably 5 years old. I showed it to some people who didn't believe 360's ever even came without HDMI! I did buy the previous "last" DLC track (American Pie) recently. But I've got the tracks from RB 1-3 and a bunch of DLC, Green Day Rock Band and Beatles Rock Band (with some DLC). I'm invested. Too bad I still have a 20GB hard drive.

I would buy a current-gen Rock Band game with all instruments and every single song they've released on-disc and DLC for $300+

That would be killer.

Hmm, this kind of got my hopes up. I would love for some Arctic Monkeys DLC for Rocksmith and hoped this announcement would open the door for that. But since R U Mine is already the lone AM song in Rocksmith this doesn't really change things.

WHY WOULD YOU BE DOING ALL OF THIS WORK FOR ALMOST 10 YEAR OLD CONSOLES?!?!?!

Wow

I remember the big deal when they released their last DLC track. Can't believe it's been pretty much 2 years already.

So randomly awesome that they're starting off again out of nowhere

Makes me wonder if creators.rockband.com is ever going back up. You haven't been able to download Magma for more than a year. :(
