Harmonix announces new RB DLC: Arctic Monkeys, Avenged Sevenfold and Foo Fighters

We had Rock Band set up for a party at New Years and also did it earlier in the year for Halloween.

I'll happily support more Rock Band and if there's any way for my 360 DLC to carry over to the Xbox One, I'll buy there too. Even though I know Microsoft will probably make me buy new instruments instead of being able to use the 360 controllers.

Otherwise, a PC release would be nice.

This is clearly a sign of things to come. Testing the waters now that new consoles have launched is a bit silly, but exercising previously licensed material or getting the ball rolling for a new stream of DLC and eventual new game would be excellent.

I'm more interested in the availability of Arctic Monkeys DLC. I play Rocksmith 2014 every other day and keep up with any news about their DLC, and Dan Amrich has stated before that they've attempted conversation multiple times but they're notoriously hard to license for digitally-- hence the on-disc "R U Mine" but no DLC despite being highly requested.

Maybe RB got it since its the same song already available on a competing game (kinda), or maybe it's a sign of them being more open to licensing their material for download in general. I think they're awful, but I cant say scoring big-named artists with huge draw factors is a bad thing for my music games.

Sweet. So now you can cover the Foo Fighters, covering Dio, on a plastic guitar. Woohoo!

...I really wish I had my RB stuff, lol.

I want this. But I have so much dlc bought on the 360 shop ugh

I could easily see it transferring over. Rocksmith had the foresight to license all of their songs for availability across multiple platforms, so I'm sure Harmonix considered this many years ago and laid the necessary groundwork.

Let's hope they don't make it a free shell on PSN/XBL with their massive music library available but not cross-compatible Sith previous purchases. That'd be about the worst situation I could think of (well, that and old instruments being incompatible, but that would be ludicrous).

Rock Band is pretty much the only use I still have for my 360 which I bought in 2006. It has red-ringed once, so it's newer hardware but still probably 5 years old. I showed it to some people who didn't believe 360's ever even came without HDMI! I did buy the previous "last" DLC track (American Pie) recently. But I've got the tracks from RB 1-3 and a bunch of DLC, Green Day Rock Band and Beatles Rock Band (with some DLC). I'm invested. Too bad I still have a 20GB hard drive.
I bought one of those second to last revision 360s after I lost my warranty so I could keep playing Rock Band. I even bought a second (digital) copy of Rock Band 3 so I wouldn't have to bother with any discs.

Wow, I'm most surprised that it's been almost 2 years since they stopped releasing DLC. Anyways, all hail king Harmonix, gods of post-release support.

I know I already posted about it in here, but I guess I'd like to ask for real.

Does anyone know why my Rock Band wireless drums for the X360 are recognized by the game as a guitar instead of drums?

I've never been able to play the drum part in any Rock Band game because of this and it's killing me.

It's possible that it's a manufacturing error and the chips inside the drums were meant for a guitar. Sounds crazy, but the QA for Rock Band instruments was always a bit... notorious.

Given this announcement (and i'm totally losing my shit over it), i wonder if they had another reason for re-licensing those DLC songs besides allowing them to being sold. Maybe add in a part about transferring them to other consoles. Next-gen consoles.

I'M NOT SAYING ROCK BAND NEXT-GEN, BUT THE EVIDENCE IS PILING UP

Makes me wonder if they can create a USB adapter to make old wired and wireless controllers work on the new systems. Key thing is DLC and on-disk song transfers though.

Since Nintendo is still being copy pasted into the press releases, there might still be hope that these tracks will be available in the next gen title right, right?

Happy we can do it, though. Excited about the opportunity with the three tracks we just released; cool to dust ourselves off to see if we can still do it. We can! New songs tomorrow!

This made me very happy. Thanks!

Also, a new Iron Maiden album is expected to be released this year. Just sayin'

I want current gen Rock Band so bad. Please let this be a sign. Rock Band is the only reason I still have my 360 plugged in.

This is a test. There's something bigger going on.

Regardless of your desire of these songs or not, I say this is a "money where your mouth is" moment to support the series.

My jaw dropped when I read this news. Like, you can't even imagine. I still don't believe it. New DLC, for Rock Band in 2015? Holy fucking shit. I'm buying for support. The possibilities of weekly DLC returning or maybe a new Rock Band title for PS4/Xbone...oh my fucking god. Make it happen and I'll be there day fucking one without a question.

Time to dust off my guitar! ;)

It might be a byline that has to be in there because of Rock Band's general availability on the Wii, even if these tracks aren't coming to that system. There's already been a few tracks they couldn't get for technical reasons.

That's the thing. I mean it's only 2 bucks a pop but I don't want any of these songs lol. I'll probably fire up the store tomorrow and buy something else I may have missed.

I'm okay with having to buy a new guitar if all of my songs transferred over.

I'm be over the moon if I could transfer my 360 songs to the PS4, but that's never happening.

Been thinking what bands they haven't really had much songs for, or ones they never got. I could think of these:

Pink Floyd
Led Zeppelin
Black Sabbath
Rolling Stones
Muse
Smashing Pumpkins
Metallica

Plus tons of hits that are staples to rock music like Blinded by the Light etc.

The Arctic Monkeys song on bass and guitar actually sounds pretty fucking fun.

Foo Fighters song sounds pretty chill at the start but everything ramps up on all instrments as you get further in. Pretty rad guitar solo towards the end.

A7X song is pretty chuggy and slower paced for the most part, but it has the usual solo's that'll probably rank it up to tier 5/final tier on Expert Guitar.
