The weird thing is, as much as Groundhog Day is more holy to me than any religious text and with as many hours as I've spent watching Ghostbusters and Caddyshack-- Ramis made some duds. Year One is painfully awful, and the only movie I've consciously walked out of. Ghostbusters 3 sounded like a bad idea from every angle. That almost makes me more affectionate for his work. If someone can screw up that badly, the masterpieces look all the more impressive.

I wonder if Bill Murray will attend the funeral. The two have been estranged for a while.

They made semi-good, supposedly. Murray visited Ramis sometime recently and they were cordial.

Holy shit, no . Just one week ago I was rewatching Stripes. Love him in that. I wonder what this means for the new Ghostbusters. I new the old gang was just going to have a small part, and that Bill Murray probably wouldn't do it (I guess now he won't do it at all, the original idea of him having a cameo as a ghost seems extra morbid now), but I guess they're probably better of not doing it at all now.

This man was a huge part of my childhood. He comes from a time where big Hollywood comedies felt a lot more personal. RIP .
