As the night approaches, Remus Lupin felt the hair on his arms rise, as if called by the air. He knew what was waiting for him as the sun went down. What a horrible night to have a curse.
Trembling, Lupin passed his hand through his hair and then started searching his pockets, carefully. There was not much in them. A few knuts, three sickles, a fat purple fruit that looked like a morphed tomato, a badly beaten photo, until he finally found what he was looking for. A small bottle.
The bottle was empty.
"Oh well, I knew that already" - Lupin thought to himself. He let out a heavy sigh and proceed to try to entertain himself in the darkness of his mind. His dark thoughts got suddenly interrupted by a rare happy one. -"I wonder where she is now"- he let out a soft smile. "Making trouble I guess".
The memory of her bright hair, sometimes purple, sometimes pink, sometimes a color that couldn´t be described, was able to lit a fire on his chest, a fire he believed to had extinguished a long time ago. Of course, as soon as he realized it was there, he quietly let it die again. He couldn´t do that. Not to her. It was too dangerous.
Lupin felt a strong, pulsing pain in his head. Its always the head first. He felt the now overly familiar sensation that he always got before losing his identity. The confusion. The fear. The rage. The anger. The suffering. And the release. And then... a need to run as far away as possible.
What a curious feeling. Who was he know? Was he still himself?
His clothes lied on the floor, ripped, and from the pocket of his coat, the empty bottle and the photo. There she was, trying as hard as she could to smile at him, but she knew.
A single bright spot danced through the monochrome cheek of the girl on the picture.
A searing howl filled the night, greeting the full moon.
Lupin was never found again...
