Has Your View on the Switch 2 Changed?

With games like Resident Evil Requiem (even John from DF says it looks like it's close to 60fps with RTGI in Handheld mode!), Chronos : The New Dawn (especially after the latest update), Final Fantasy 7 Remake Intergrade and Star Wars: Outlaws (again, especially after the latest update) showcasing how capable the system is, have any of you changed your minds about the system or do you still think it's a base PS4 or less?

its kind of funny watching console guys whom have been on old AMD gpus for long time now get their minds melted by what Nvidia has going on. Even new AMD chips absolutely kill what's in the consoles.

It's a cool handheld, but I don't really play on handhelds, so that's pretty lost on me. I'd leave it hooked up to my tv nearly 100% of the time at which point it really would just be a Nintendo game box while everything else gets played on PS5 Pro.

I probably will end up getting one at some point though once there's more stuff I actually want for it.

I like it a bit more now, after having it for a while now, but i dont see its beeing really powerful, Maybe with the new Metroid game coming soon. Donkey Kong just runs too bad for that. And thats first party game.

I bought one. I kind of regert it. I'm only going to be buying Nintendo exclusives.
I kind of regert. I could have simply bought Mario Galaxy 1 & 2 on the Switch OLED.
But instead I lost my mind and traded in everything with a Nintendo sticker from the Wii-U to the Switch 1 and bought a Switch 2. Going all digital with everything.

Can anyone explain to me what is it outraging about to have a similar raw power of the ps4 for a portable? It's a respectable perfomance and yes in terms of raw poly counts it's more close to the ps4 than the ps5 BUT it can handle comparable effect of the last one. We can live with that.

It was pretty much what I expected it to be and I've yet to see any must-play (for me) Switch 2 exclusives, so I'm staying away for now.

Nope still too expensive for what it offers.
PS4 level games, but they want PS5 level money for it.

I know Its a handheld but i dont play games on the go, so for me It would be a table console that is worse than PS5/XSX in every way, while charging premium for its games, acessories and hardware.

No, because I didn't even bother to create an opinion about the console.

And I don't need one. I binged OG Switch and look what that got me: a dusty console.

I'm pleasantly surprised, unlike Switch 1 which received very few ports of PS4 games, I think we'll see more ports of PS5 games to Switch 2.

I think it'll end up having a better third party library than Switch 1.

Still think its a pos outdated overpriced console made mostly for running nintendo exclusives at the bare minimum settings accepted for our current time.

You can't press B and Y together (how I parry in Street Fighter 6) because of the placement of the right thumb stick.

It's much weaker than it should be imo.

I bought one. After i steamed through Mario Kart - it sits on my shelf collecting dust until the next major First party release that interests me or my kids. Thats the lift of a Nintendo console in my home and it fits the role perfectly.
In it for Nintendo First party. Its an impressive console and im happy for you if you wanna play third party games on it and it runs them well- but i will be playing those games elsewhere.

Docked 24/7

No, it's still a first party focused machine and the worst way to play everything else if you have a current gen console or a pc and the difference is gonna be even wider nextgen.

As long as I have my PS5/Series X/PC, I don't see the need for the Switch 2 to play 3rd party content EXCEPT to play their exclusive titles.

I don't see an incentive to get one right now. Don't see as much excitement for this online either to warrant the purchase right now.

Yeah, it has changed.

I thought it would've been a repeat of what the Switch 1 was, with 3rd party games having this specific "Switch version" look.

But I keep playing Outlaws, and it's like I'm playing a weird PS4 version with RT on streaming (like I played Control over the cloud or Guardians of Galaxy).

The only real issue I have is the hair rendering, which is somehow terrible in every instance so far.

Not at all, it's a slightly more powerful Steam Deck with some excellent DLSS. I expected it would get some, maybe not all, 3rd party support and I am sure some late ports of past games as we have seen already.

But the target audience is and will continue to be Nintendo fans, and at some point in couple years or so once it's library picks up first party wise, I will likely grab one.

It definitely turned out to be a more capable machine than I expected in terms of visuals and performance.
But I still have no interest in getting one. I don't have much use for a portable device, and if I'm going to play on my TV all of these third party games still look and run better on my Ps5.
None of the first party games have looked particularly appealing to me either, specially with them being $70-80 and never going on sale.

If I ever do get a new portable device, I'm still way more inclined to get one of these portable PCs. Maybe I'll be temped when we get the Steam Deck 2.

Somebody needs to come with a hair solution on Switch 2, for sure. It looks like their hair has static cling now. 😆
