You're all for violence and yet this was unnecessary? Why? No one feels shitty when they're killing innocent zombie civilians. They don't know what they're doing since they're brain dead but we massacre them in hordes and say fuck yeah when we see their blood. In comparison, we have regular stupid civilians in this game polluting the world, making it black and white. If anything, everyone should feel worse killing zombies. This guy is bringing peace to the world again by cleansing it of evil.

Their background is not the issue here. The enemy characters in those games are armed and will kill you if they can. I don't think anyone would argue that violence in the context of self defense is justified when there's no other alternative besides them killing you.

This is either poe's law level parody or a truly terrifying post.
 
If you care about the gaming industry, do not buy this. Games like this are created for controversy and controversy alone. They bring no substance, meaning or reason, other than to feed of the coverage they are most certain to get from anti violent video games media outlets like the Daily Mail and FOX News (The ''no publicity is bad publicity'' approach.) Hoping that they can amass some kind of cult status with the game.

Games like GTA, Manhunt, COD, Dark Souls and the like, have all been targeted by the media outlets I mentioned above. However us gamer's have been able to provide counterarguments to the claims they make. This game will be a giant red marker for them to exploit (and they will.) Looking at this game, it will be very hard for us to come up with rational and counterarguments this time around.

This game will do more harm than good.

The more I've thought about this today, it just feels fucking weird, like they're playing at something larger. I mean I just feel like games are so not about this anymore, and the message is so shallow that there has to be some kind of irony behind it.
 
I really like the top down perspective with detailed graphics and physics.

But the game is dark as black which is obviously intentional.

Giving the current insane events and killings around the world, I can't stomach these themes of hate-based killings.Especially with no humor to it.
 
I really hope this game doesn't get released. Fair enough you can do the same thing in GTA but there is a story around it and it's not all running and gunning. This game is wrong in all kinds of ways.
 
I noticed the city background as the character opened the door is actually the Central side of Hong Kong. I feel strange seeing a suburban town at this angle as it is clearly where Kowloon should be at.
 
Postal 1 is on steam and is pretty dead serious. I don't see a reason for this game not to release and if Steam bans it, they are a bunch of hypocrites. The humor came in with Postal 2 & 3. This game is a spiritual successor to Postal 1 with far more realistic graphics.

I honestly don't believe in limits, as far as depictions of violence are concerned in media. You have every right judge this content, but your viewpoint is one I can't relate to.

Edit: Finally got to see the trailer with audio, and I truly wonder if this isn't some dark parody? I can't actually take this remotely seriously, was laughing at his dialog. I'm actually and pretty sure I'll play this now. I am not personally bothered with the depictions of violence I saw, and do enjoy rampages s in open world GTA games. If police or any other armed forces can provide enough resistant, it could be a fun game. Fucked up conceptually? Yes, but it could stil be fun nontheless.

You're judging the scope of the whole game based on a single trailer? At least wait until it's been released, then see what the justification for the violence is.

Anyway, this is an Indie game, releasing solely on the PC. There are a hell of lot of games that are far worse than this one in the indie pc world.

The main character's statements are what's really disturbing.

Instantly remind you of the shooting sprees that happen in real life.

Not very pleasant tbh

I don't agree with that. The gaming industry has been in a safe place for awhile now something needs to be questioned and shaken up.

This game is not comparable to a subversive or uncomfortable piece of art. Its is misleading to make that claim. This game is not art, and has shown it has nothing to say beyond juvenile misanthropy.

I amnot talking about the gameplay..

There are far more violent and visceral games including The last of Us for example.


I am talking about the damn characters blatant statements of hating innocent people.Its like GTAV but only with Trevor as the lead.
 
Looks like a darker version of Postal.

I mean, Postal was already pretty gruesome and dark, but in a "fun" way. Everything was just blown way out of proportion and the humor was pretty twisted. Other NPCs would sometimes insult you, to which you could reply by urinating on them, for example. Plus there was actually a real story (well, rather a succession of mission) and you could always choose if you wanted to behave or just blow it all up and save more time.

Now, this game... I don't know much about it yet so I can't judge. But it looks kinda depressing. Still, I'm not outrage by its existence.

I'm really not sure what to think. On the one hand, I'm kinda interested in the project and think there could be some strong sociological messages here. At least, this could be the vessel to make a point about culture.

However, the way the developers are talking about the game makes me think they're just trying too hard to be over the top for bonus points or something. They're even referring to the trailer as "propaganda" which is just...lame.

I question the actual gameplay too. I mean, unless comics and the FBI show up to shoot you, this would get boring quickly. Shock and gore can only go so far.

Oh really? And how do you know they're innocent? Have you met these people? If you've ever murdered someone in a game and you didn't know if they were guilty for sure or just following orders, you're murdering innocent people too.
 
The gameplay looks great but the premise is a bit questionable. It's going to be an easy scapegoat for the mainstream press and puritans of the world.

Well that doesn't make the game seem fun to me. Gameplay is what I'm talking about and it looks pretty boring from that side. For me it's gameplay first, the visual style second, and I guess the graphic quality last. And the visual style (the dark gritty violent stuff) does not appeal to me so I guess I don't really see the appeal of how it looks graphically either.

Oh, I wasn't suggesting that it made it fun. I was just saying that it was surprisingly technically impressive.
 
I would love to give the benefit of the doubt to these guys and think that maybe they are actually trying to make a statement here, trying to draw attention to the fine line between the "sanctioned" mass violence many people enjoy in many modern games and something truly depraved like this

...but I don't know if I can. This feels like its being played for too much shock value.
