Hatsune Miku Project Diva series general discussion thread

It was delayed?!

latest

I kind of expected that after the EU delay, as SEGA also never talked about the pre-order stuff that they mentioned in the announcement blog post.

At least in EU I believe a physical version is still coming. amazon.de just put up the pre-order page (with the German boxart being shown for the first time) for August 14th a few days ago. I'm sure the SEGA restructuring just pushed stuff back a bit and it's still coming.

I don't know whether to feel thankful that I get to buy splatoon thanks to the delay or absolute despair because miku

Is it bad that I know the source of that image?

Anyway I don't mind waiting, but I would like to know the reason why...

I just really want that Diva Arcade port that they were teasing a month or so ago.

If they don't bring it to Steam, I'll... I'll... write a childish tweet and grumble about it for an hour.

So, it is crunch time. A little over a week before Project Mirai's supposed launch date. GameStop is still saying 12/31/15 on their website, but I went to a local GameStop over the weekend and their systems say May 26th. Was told my best bet would be to call the GameStop I ordered from the Monday before and ask if they have it in.

...what? Mirai got delayed? That's not fair :(
I was looking forward to it as a post-exams reward... but now it doesn't even have a rough date? Has Sega Europe said anything about this or is it all from retailers?

I'm genuinely quite disheartened by this... :(

Neither SEGA Europe or SEGA America have said a single word about Mirai after the initial announcement. The SEGA Europe twitter is dead since April 17th and the SEGA US twitter is still active and even replies to stuff, but ignores every question regarding Mirai.

The EU delay has been confirmed by the spanish distributor (technically only for Spain, but since you still can't pre-order the game in the UK..), there are no news about the US release so it could still be coming in May, but the complete radio silence isn't very encouraging.

And yeah, this is probably my most-wanted game right now and I wish SEGA would just announce something

Apparently Koch Media deleted their initial tweet about the delay. So who knows at this point.

Yeah, now that I think about it there hasn't been anything said about the localisation since the official announcement - I just kinda assumed that it would still be releasing in a couple of weeks time. I wonder what could be causing the hold up? I just hope it doesn't become a situation where it gets delayed to "late 2015", then "2016", and finally "TBD" as it falls off the face of the earth.

So I got a PSTV when it was on sale and decided to make it my dedicated Japan PSN box.

Which Project Diva PSP games should I get? Are they actually worth getting? Shit looks complicated.

2nd and Extend are your best bets, though having a PD save file is good if you want all the costumes, since PD costumes transfer to PD 2nd (and PD 2nd costumes transfer to Extend). It's really not too horribly complex, and once you get the hang of where stuff is in Japanese, you'll be handling it like a pro.

If you get PD 2nd (and you should) be sure to get the "#" or "low price version". It should come with a code to get the Extend modules into 2nd via PSN. Assuming that still works, I guess.

Dunno about digital (which this would be), but the Physical version code to allow for importing expired in Dec. 2013 I believe.

Gotta say I vastly prefer the DivaF 1 set list to the 2nd. I played 2 on normal and Hard and had enough. Went back to Divs F1 and I can't put it down. The songs are so much for catchy for me. Also Meiko didn't get screwed over like she did in F2.

I agree.

The only thing holding me back from F1 is that I can't use joystick to do star scratches on the Vita. Mashing my fingers against the screen feels pretty archaic now.

While I agree, and still to an extent agree, the DLC goes to considerable lengths in redeeming F 2nd.

F came with all the DLC songs, some of which are easily the best in the game. Even then, I do ultimately agree that it's a much stronger lineup of songs regardless. 2nd just isn't as hopeless as it first appears. Practically all my fave songs in 2nd is DLC.

I prefer F2nd set list, but I also like F a lot. A lot of F 2nd DLC are old songs from before the F series which I also enjoy. I really want Sega to announce a new F game with more difficulty options like Arcade or with Arcade gameplay.

Does anyone have the slightest idea as to what Project mirai DX actually is? Did anyone here import it?

I own Project mirai 2 for Japanese 3DS already. I've watched the trailer on the Japanese eShop and I see songs already present in Pm2. I downloaded the demo and it contained two songs...both are in Pm2, one being identical in every respect, the other having its original video removed and replaced by a real-time animation.

The link posted to Invisible a few posts up appears to be another case of the original video being removed and replaced by a real-time animation, but interestingly, the chart being played isn't in Pm2 (to my knowledge).

I can't find much information on DX anywhere, and what's out there is often wrong (like the mirai 2 Wikipedia article, which claims that DX is simply a Western/European release of mirai 2). Can anyone set the record straight on what it is?

It is, essentially, Project mirai 2 with as many adaptations as were necessary to make an international release feasible (the PVs being replaced with in-game animation simplifies licensing greatly, as the PVs were separate licenses from the music). It is billed as a new entry in the series even in Japan, and was originally intended to release in Japan last (but ended up being released there first). Owners of Project mirai 2 may or may not see the need to upgrade (and the game will transfer save data somehow); there is no new music but a few more charts were added, as well as the Reversi mini game.

They also redid the note charts for the songs that used to have anime PVs, I believe.

In general, there are minor additions to the game. If you have PM2 and you like it, there's not too much reason to import Deluxe.

You should absolutely buy Deluxe when it releases here in NA though!

Wow, okay. I almost wonder if the StreetPass feature will work between the two games.

I guess I won't be importing DX then. But yes, I absolutely will grab the North American release =) Thanks for the info!

I picked up DX!
One thing to add to what others were saying is that there's actually a new difficulty mode (chou-tokoton) for 6 specific songs. I can't remember them all but I know Matroyshka and that China-themed song have Chou-tokoton charts. I managed to clear all of them but some were really hard.

I would probably recommend waiting for the US or EU version if you're not in Japan.

Are you talking about Yi Ar Fan Club? I only see the normal three difficulties for the button and touch modes. Is there something I'm missing?

You have to unlock it by beating Tokoton with an S I believe.
I have S on tokoton for both modes though. Is it supposed to show up as a fourth difficult in the list? The only thing I haven't done is played the lower difficulty levels.

EDIT: nvm, read on GameFAQs that I need to play the game until the credits roll first. :S

The songs with the extra difficulty level are:
SING&SMILE
Matryoshka
Romeo & Cinderella
Invisible
Arifureta Sekai Seifuku
Yi Ar Fanclub
