Having game demos at camera stores sounds pretty crazy and magical.

Two months, one week to go!

Also, been a bit too busy to summarize but there is some new media up on Weekly Diva Station as of last week. Hoping to catch up in a couple days.

If the previous games are any indication, it's probably 60 just for Miku and 5 each for the rest.

Going by the previous games ,
  • 8 for luka
  • 8 for rin
  • 6 for ren
  • 4 for kaito
  • 3 for meiko
  • 31 for miku

I think we can expect the old costumes to arrive by dlc as well ( it's a safe bet )

Confession: I typically just leave 'em in their default outfits so I never went through to look. >>;

I actually have a strange OCD compulsion to leave "NEW!" markers present at all costs, so I've never once used a module other than default or DLC. If I ever end up in a situation where I show off one of the unlockable modules or whatnot, I end up not saving afterward.

Thankfully, this has not been an issue in either Dreamy Theater release.

The cover's been slightly updated to show the button symbols (and the star) more prominently:

I always change outfits unless the unlockable ones are somehow all worse than the default one. Especially with Miku though you just know there's going to be some cool unlockable outfit so I like to show those off once I've gotten them. It's part of the game.

I have a question for those of you who have played previous Project Diva games. How much DLC is likely to be released for Project Diva f? I'm considering a White Wifi Vita to go along with my Black 3G unit that would be a dedicated JPSN account machine. Project Diva f DLC is a big part of why I'm considering it although certainly not the only reason.

I realize that you can switch accounts with a system reset on any Vita but I'm really particular about my wallpapers and icon placement and the thought of having to rearrange all of those things on a regular basis is just about reason enough for me to have a dedicated Japanese account machine. Anyway, thoughts on Project Diva f DLC?

The first game had no real DLC support; the "DLC" was a standalone program that created edit data on your memory stick, as well as providing a minigame and movie player.

The second game had 10 DLC songs and somewhere in the neighborhood of 30-40 modules. All of this aside from the two songs and three modules making up the IDOLM@STER SP collaboration was later included in Project DIVA extend as standard unlockables.

I'd like to think the second game would have received more DLC support, except for two key factors:
  • The DLC loading mechanism had a key inefficiency in that it reloaded ALL the DLC data every time you returned to the menu. By the time you had all 10 DLC songs, you faced a minute-and-a-half wait just to see the list of songs. This was fixed in Project DIVA extend (all DLC is pre-loaded via a settings menu option).
  • The PS Store ceased to exist in Japan for around two months following the hacking incident, much longer than it was down in other regions. IIRC, what became the final song DLC for Project DIVA 2nd was released within a month of the store going down. A few bonus modules were released after the PS Store returned though.
So in effect, Project DIVA extend was current and possibly planned DLC for Project DIVA 2nd, crystallized into a retail package. No DLC was ever released for it (aside from preorder bonus modules at 7-Eleven, Circle K, Lawson, etc, but a fun fact is even these modules are coded for 2nd and are not exclusive to extend either).

This is stuff that shouldn't significantly hinder Project DIVA f, given the OS's expansion of DLC support (seems DLC gets installed into the bubble now, so games don't have to implement their own loading systems).

I just found out there was a nico nico live broadcast for PDf. Did anyone catch it? It appears they showed full gameplay of the new PVs on different difficulties, among other things.

Very informative, thank you. I'm guessing that Project Diva f should have fairly robust DLC support because it seems like SEGA would be leaving money on the table if it doesn't. But that's just a guess and I could be totally wrong. Hopefully we'll find out more as launch day approaches.

So that live stream on Nico has come and gone, but we have a few videos from it. I'm not very good at searching for these, but a few highlights:

FREELY TOMORROW、タイムマシン、ODDS&ENDSの3つ
ODDS&ENDS (same as in the previous video)

Gameplay comment on the scratches - they're pretty much exactly how I imagined. They're just like IIDX scratches where you wipe your finger across the screen in one direction, then wipe your finger back in the other direction without lifting it for consecutive scratches after that. Seems to be a pretty natural extension to the game, though I wonder how/if they'll implement this on PS3.

I'm pretty sure GUMI is owned by a different company than Crypton so there's a bunch of licensing issues there. It's sort of like Sonic in Smash Bros.: It's possible but don't hold your breath.

Haven't had a Weekly Diva Station roundup since 6/8 D: Going to get through this quick, reverse chronological order:

6/27: More Project DIVA extend modules hit Arcade with the ver.B update on 7/5. You can treat this as a preview of things to come from Dreamy Theater extend:

6/25: Announcement of ODDS&ENDS single. This is Project DIVA f's theme, once again by ryo(supercell). There are two limited editions as well; limited edition A comes with a BD while limited edition B comes with a DVD. (Thanks to duckroll for clarifying this!) Both also comes with a papercraft Miku or something. Will be out 8/29.

6/22: The first wave of store-specific pre-order bonuses. Not going to relink since this is stuff most of us will never see, but I particularly like this image:

6/21: Song announcements, same ones that were in Famitsu. Different images though, including these module renders:

6/15: Announcements of dates and places where Project DIVA f will be previewed.

6/13: Announcing the Hori accessory set for Project DIVA f. They have the exact image AmiAmi has for it here.

6/13: A new CD, "V♥25~cantabile~", has two songs recently added to Project DIVA Arcade: "Gothic and Loneliness ~I'm the very DIVA~" and "slump".

I've been a fan of Supercell ever since I watched Guilty Crown. I've been a fan of Miku since only early this year when I started looking into Project Mirai. Imagine my surprise when I discovered Supercell's first album featured Miku! It was like a chocolate and peanut butter combination moment. (or something)

Pretty cool that Ryo from Supercell is still involved in writing music for Miku and that it's being featured in Project Diva f.

Ryo/Supercell is incredible for sure. The way that guy just exploded and essentially ended up doing the music for virtually every popular anime the past few years along with a bunch of games is such an inspiring success story. Moving from total Internet obscurity to where he is now, you can't help but feel happy for the guy.

So according to that box art posted on andriasang, the music videos in Diva f will change depending on the player's score? Alternative endings maybe?

Yep. Some examples via random GameFAQs thread:

As reported by SGCafe, information which can be taken from this cover is as follows...

  • 2 Player ad-hoc mode, presumably to share songs. However a local Wi-Fi feature is also mentioned on the back cover.
  • Engaging with Vocaloids in the Diva room via touch screen
  • Edit mode also returns and allows you to create PV's for songs. (Hopefully new measures will be available for song timing.)
  • Probably the biggest feature is the ability for Vocaloids to perform 'Life-Sized' Vocaloid concerts through the Augmented Reality function.

I'm glad edit mode is returning, though there was no doubt it would do anyway. 2 Player mode sounds pretty interesting too. If true, I am interested in what that mode would be like, though it will probably just be a generic 'compete for the most points' mode. Would be great to watch Miku concerts in my living room too via AR. This game just keeps getting better and better!

Adhoc communication was used in previous games to share player data only - there was no multiplayer mode.

Very cool. I can't tell though if those are neko ears she's sporting with the Odds&Ends module or just part of her head attire.

It's exciting and a little bit hard to believe that Project Diva f launches at the end of next month.
