The most common complaint I hear about F is that none of people's favorite songs from previous games were in the game, so this was to be expected (and if you recall, there was voting on which previous song/modules should return earlier this year). What we see in this video seems to be significantly redone at least (as expected, since a straight copy and paste of PSP/DT assets would just look off in the F engine) so it's still a nontrivial effort to get these into the game.

This has kind of always been the case until Diva F. I want new songs too, but I would be lying if I said there weren't a bunch of songs from 2nd that I wanted to see in F 2nd, despite already having played them a ton. Give me melt, kokoro, just be friends, meltdown, etc.

Hmm...I would have preferred it if they dropped the star notes altogether, but I guess as long as you don't have to be as precise as with normal notes they don't bother me all that much.
Did they already say how the new note types will work? I guess for the double star notes you just have to use both sticks, but do you have to follow the path for the other ones or are those just hold notes?

I never played the PSP games, so I'm actually glad about this one, probably means better songs on average. Do we know if there will be more songs than in the first F?

Also, I hope we hear something about a potential Western release before it's released in Japan. I'm not sure if I should import this time.

Anyway, looking forward to it, it looks great.

I want to suffer again through The Disappearance of Hastune Miku.

Explanations are going to have to wait until later, but the latest Weekly Diva Station update has a video showing most of the latest from Project DIVA F 2nd so far. It's another long one!

Wow, that's so lazy.

I mean I was already aware that F 2nd would include songs from the PSP games, but I wasn't actually expecting them to simply reuse the entire PVs as well.

Also, I want a PS4 version that uses the updated arcade assets. Make it happen Sega. I will buy a PS4 for that game.

i guess i'm just not a fan of packaged.

"romeo" didn't seems that much different at first glace too.

i don't dislike older song being remade ( like uramote lovers in extend) but here it seems too famillar

IGN has posted a gameplay video (which was apparently recorded during Sega's live show since that's about all you can hear...): http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1qyUd_ytGv0

What I can pick up from this video:

  • The game seems to run at higher resolution than the original game. Looks way better even from this off-screen perspective.
  • Sound selection has been revamped a bit. There are two sections, one for notes and one for scratches; you can also optionally select different sounds for holds, doubles, link scratches, and double scratches.
  • There's a new challenge item named "High Speed". It isn't chosen in this video so we can't see what effect it has though.
  • Challenge items show little icons when selected now that identify them individually. There seems to be a room for at least six of these icons side by side; I wonder if you can use multiple challenge items simultaneously...

Seems different enough to me. I don't remember there being -that- many roses in the video before, and the textures have more detail than I remember.

Managed to get my hands on F 2nd and Mirai 2 over the weekend. Was only allowed to play one song on each before leaving the booth but I played enough to know I'll be picking up both come launch. F 2nd was exactly as expected i.e. more of the same. I only played touch mode on Mirai 2 which was lots of fun and not entirely dissimilar to Ouendan on the DS.

Was some free tat to be had as well at both the Sega booth and the Domino's Pizza booth.

There was also a stage presentation with someone in a rather creepy looking Miku costume but didn't stick around to catch all of it lest I have nightmares for the rest of the month.

I feel like there is no chance 575 coming over...talk about niches within niches. That being said, I will import it

Yep. As I said in the other thread. I see there being no chance at all. Hatsune Miku is at least a recognisable franchise, Project 575 is just an idol game that used vocaloid. I will be shocked if Sega plan to release in the west.

My progress in DIVA F was non-existant today. I was making silly sloppy mistakes on every try so I stopped. I think I just needed to take tonight off.

It's not us who should be afraid...

Please tell me you took this photo :P

not just that, I mean haiku is as culturally obscure for a rhythm game as you can get

I'll probably get the next one as an import regardless since my Vita and PS3 ones are JP. However, I do hope it sold well enough here to warrant localizing the sequel

I will import them from now on. After playing this one I think I realise I don;t need a translation for all the extras. As long as I can play the songs. Will buy localised version after though.
Double dipping is always a good thing.

sadly I don't think they are bringing back Black Rock Shooter or going to introduce 1925 to that game(guessing it's not that popular, but I loved figuring out the meanings/references in that song). Oh well, from what I've seen so far, it's bound to be great regardless

I still plan to do a catch-up to Weekly Diva Station when work (and PSO2) is a little less crazy, but this update was worth posting right away:

20130823_02.jpg

A Project DIVA F 2nd demo for Vita will be available on JP PSN starting 10/17 for only one week, through 10/23. Players are advised to keep their Vita firmware up to date so that there will be no delays on launch day. (We already knew the timeframe though...)

Three songs will be available:

20130922_001.jpg

Akatsuki Arrival by Last Note.

20130711_a008.jpg

Romeo and Cinderella by doriko

20130711_a0011.jpg

Colorful x Melody by team MOER

Only Normal difficulty will be available in the demo, but the new double scratch and link scratch mechanics are implemented, and you can use more than one challenge item simultaneously. Stack both the High Speed and Shy Target challenges if you feel the demo is too easy!

Just played the demo. Not too bad. Wasn't as exciting since 3 out of the 4 songs were ones we've seen before.
Didn't really care or mind double star notes. The combo star notes were neat though. I didn't follow that many vids of Project Diva F 2nd, but Akatsuki Arrival showed off fun uses for it.

I'm going to bed before this finishes uploading, but I recorded a quick gameplay video here: http://youtu.be/dpPATTyVawA

This was recorded totally blind; I hadn't tried any of the charts beforehand. Also, combining High Speed and Shy Target on the fastest song of the three was probably not the best of ideas...

Played the demo for a bit, looks pretty good. Was surprised to see you can get safes on star notes now.

EDIT: oh god I was not prepared for high speed and shy target at the same time
