Hatsune Miku Project Diva series general discussion thread

im glad this all worked out, and my theory is correct haha...

i have a similar setup im planning but with those dome shaped obsf-30Q's... cool stuff

edit - to be fair though, its a setup very similar to Pop n' music buttons, minus the spring. it uses the exact same switches (well on some cabs). there's really no room for any sort of spring in those F controller buttons, but im sure it's doable. so in this case, a harder switch is pretty good.

the lower point of activation isn't that big of an issue, just an adjustment in input timing, already a factor altered by tv/monitors and type of video connection.

anyone here make custom ProDiva contorllers? i need ideas for flicking, should i stick with the analogs? im not a fan of them sticking out though...

The mini controller buttons actually have a spring in them stock. I wonder if removing the spring would help it, actually... the lower point of activation I can see being an issue if you need to hit the button rapidly - the harder it is to actuate, the harder it is to do sequences on rhythm.

If I were designing a controller at this point and knew how to work touchscreens into the design I would probably try to mimic Future Tone's touch slider:

Clover Club: To the End and Button Mode

oshirase_ss_03_thumb.jpg
oshirase_ss_04_thumb.jpg

You know, I've been trying to Perfect Clover Club on Tokoton Button Mode, and after a while I realised, I can do the entire song perfectly with barely any issue except for this specific note (releasing the D-Pad left hold), which I can never hit even though I'm sure I'm doing it right. So I guess there is a real issue with it.

Incidentally, I believe the patch is out now, but I can't download it because of the same eShop connection issues that are stopping me from downloading Link Between Worlds. Christmas suffering...

These were already shown in the opening movie preview, but Weekly Diva Station is showing off the F 2nd cover art today:

EDIT: I missed the other part of this post: there is apparently going to be a bonus code with the first retail pressing that allows a discount on the digital copy of the game. Someone with better language comprehension will have to elaborate.

ah they look so pretty, sadly I didn't order the version with the multipurpose stand, hopefully I'm not missing out on anything amazing~

Having a hard time falling asleep tonight, so I tried a quick song in mirai 2 finally. It would be great fun if I weren't still having the problem that made be stop playing the first Project mirai in frustration: the fact I have the Xbox button layout committed to muscle memory (which is more or less a mirror image of Nintendo's) means I'm simply incapable of playing through a song without making absolutely dumb errors. The game is being pretty forgiving and still gave me an S rank in Romeo and Conderella tokoton (I only got around 88%) but that doesn't really make me feel any better about it...

Some new songs confirmed for Diva F2:
Decorator
Miku Miku ni shite ageru (shite yan yo)
Nisokuhokou
Suki Kirai
Melt

So 22 songs announced so far: 10 all new, 12 returning from the PSP games.
The returning ones are pretty much all quality tunes though.
Guess we have 17 left to be announced; four/five every fortnight?

They really should do one single version, and periodically add new songs, like Project Diva Arcade. Juggling between games to play your favorite songs gets tiresome. If SEGA wants to keep selling new versions, let us at least carry our content from previous ones. I think PDF2 should be a good foundation, unless they want to keep piling on gameplay changes with each iteration.

Let's see if I can keep this streak of actually keeping up to date with Weekly Diva Station going...

In an effort to make these posts take less time to make, I'm going to stop linking full resolution versions of attached images. Click through to the article to see them!

Just like the previous game, you can interact with Miku and the others using the touchscreen on Vita or the thumbsticks on PS3.

New to this mode, Miku and the others might occasionally request the player to do something for them, like change the BGM, their clothes, or redecorate the room.

The rock-paper-scissors game has also been replaced by... something I've never heard of but here's an adorable video I found Googling it:

It seems it has been decided the game will consist of 40 songs and more than 160 modules. All modules from F will be returning.

I like the fact that the room are more interractive. room requests are actually a nice idea.

oh the memories this take me back ..when i was young i was doing this with other children , not in this version of course but pretty similar.

And we have liftoff:

SpuN6EY.jpg

friOV99.jpg

Stock .110 quick disconnects chopped off, .187 quick disconnects crimped, main 8 microswitches replaced. Left the L/R/Start buttons alone but maybe when I buy more parts I'll go back and do L and R too. Haven't had a chance to test with the game but it works fine testing with a PC and feels much more like an arcade controller now.

Also talking with some people about seeing what can be done about that touchscreen for F 2nd... anyone have a Hori Otomedius stick they want to sell me? .-.

If I were designing a controller at this point and knew how to work touchscreens into the design I would probably try to mimic Future Tone's touch slider:

what if i gut a jp bemani KOC's turntable? the thing i dont have access to atm is the game itself, just the demo on psn lol. im not really sure if flicking works as analog signals or is dependent on certain directions at all.. but since you just 'hit' the the analogs, it just means any kind of input would work right?

also good job on the new switches, i didn't know about the springs so thats a good thing...

the lower activation point imo is not an issue because its tactile, if it really bothers you, probably can use something to put inbetween the actuator and the microswitch to make them better? i'd have to try it out myself first.

also has anyone used these buttons for custom controllers?

they are exactly the same size as a sanwa 30mm.

A turntable would kind of work for the first game (but placement would be very awkward) but the second game on Vita adds a need for you to scratch with two fingers simultaneously. We haven't seen a PS3 demo so we don't know exactly how this works there, but I would assume it would have you flick both analog sticks simultaneously. This is why I'm looking to see if there is any way to make the F controller's touchscreen multitouch-capable. Direction of the hit doesn't matter.

I think those buttons are too small for the task honestly... even the Hori mini controller uses larger buttons than 30mm. I really can't imagine going smaller than that and still being comfortable.

In the absence of any news from Sega, I guess we can keep talking about controller modding...

The big controller was holding up great at MAGFest, so over the weekend I modded yyr's mini-controller with the OBS-M-1 microswitches:

Stq2yq5.jpg

For the switches whose terminals face the support pillars, I chopped off the NC (?) prong as best I could, slipped the quick disconnect onto the middle prong, and bent it towards where the chopped prong was.

There were a couple mishaps: I wasn't working in a clean space (I was in the middle of MAGFest's game room doing this) and managed to scratch up a couple of the plastic domes pretty badly - definitely need to pop those all off at once and get them to a safe place before doing this again. Also, some of the wires (the grounds, in this case) were really short - notice on the right side I pointed a switch's terminals toward the dreaded pillar simply because I couldn't get the wires to connect going the other way, and I actually had to improvise an extension on the far right (which was only possible by way of Radio Shack quick disconnects only coming in equal parts of male and female since I had nothing to splice wire with). I imagine the wires were trimmed and crimped by hand at the factory so I'd fully expect different controllers to have different wire lengths also...

Again, a huge thanks goes to hibachifinal for helping confirm this mod was even possible and mr.mortified for some great tips/moral support while I was doing this!

Fuck yeah Kokoro.

I hope they kept the hilarious Engrish epilogue.

More from Famitsu: surprising no one, AR and photo features seem to be back in F 2nd.

There are also more poses available.

Photo mode on PS3 has some more image options this time around, like tweaking color or brightness.

And while we're at it, Weekly Diva Station posted a bunch of the store promotional materials customers in Japan should expect to see. Some neat stuff, but of particular interest is another look at the anytime tote bag and anywhere laundry bag:

That carried pose just cracks me up.

Finally decided to get the platinum trophy on the Vita version of Diva f.
... Just two more months until 2nd... oh the waiting...

Some Weekly Diva Station updates:

1/14: A pouch set will be released alongside the game.

140114_DIVA_01.jpg.jpg

It is large enough to carry a Vita as well as a few accessories, such as an AC charger.

140114_DIVA_02.jpg.jpg

The pouch is reversible, with an alternate design on the reverse side.

140114_DIVA_04.jpg.jpg

It comes with a "cleaner cloth" as well. This is the back.

140114_DIVA_03.jpg.jpg

It can also be folded into a paper doll-like thing.

The pouch set retails for 2500 yen, releasing on March 6.

I need that Diva 2 ASAP.
I recently just wrapped up the Platinum in Diva 2 on vita (Well I need to upload data to get the plat, that feature for the JPN version isn't being discontinued soon is it?).
Anyway Since i'm a terrible person Diva 1 is still coming to the west as a digital title right? Also Diva 2 is all but for sure going to come to the west as well? Think I might still import it though just so I don't have to deal with the wait. Diva 1 is my most played vita game and I bought the PS3 version day 1 to support more miku.

I finally did it. I finished getting Perfect on all the songs in mirai 2 on Tokoton Touch mode and Button mode!

And thanks to the wonders of Miiverse, I can even post direct-feed screenshots of the ones I'm most proud of.

Invisible / Button Mode / Tokoton

Gaikotsu Gakudan to Lilia / Button Mode / Tokoton

...Now to wait for Project Diva F 2nd xp

(Am I the only one slightly bothered by the fact that they dropped the f/F distinction for the Vita and PS3 versions this time round?)

Wow, congrats man! I'm slowly making my way across the Tokoton song list, but that's a seriously major accomplishment to fully perfect touch and button mode.

I wanted to ask some of the advanced players here, for button mode do you use the D-pad in combination with the buttons for notes that are in rapid succession? I find that in songs where notes are stacked up on each other (like the end of Yume Yume), I can't cut it with just buttons alone, but I'm really clumsy using the d-pad at the same time.

Most of the time I find just tapping the face buttons rapidly is easier, but for a few instances where it gets really fast (such as Invisible, Lilia, and yes, those triplets at the end of YumeYume) mixing in the D-Pad is really the only way to go.

I found the mixed method quite awkward to begin with (too many thumb positions to think about...), and even avoided using it on Invisible (which is just about possible using only rapid button presses) but with a little practice I found it felt pretty natural, and it made Invisible much easier in the end. I don't even want to think about attempting Lilia without it.

Play Asia just emailed me about preorder options for 2nd. They have the Japanese version or the Asian version + preorder bonus for the same price. Is there any reason not to get the Asian version?

Yeah, I just got an email about it too. I can either get the Japanese version for $67 and no pre-order bonus, or the Asian version for $60 with a pre-order bonus. I don't see why I wouldn't just get the Asian one. I'm pretty sure I got the asian one last time too.

Also do we know how much new stuff is in the sequel? I'm about to drop 70 bones on a game so I'd rather not just blindly buy it, even though I know I'll like it a lot. The first is still by far one of my most played Vita games.

EDIT: Oh wait, the JPN version has free shipping, while the Asian one costs 11 bucks. Hmm, so I'd be paying more for the Asian version in the end. Is that sack really worth 3 bucks?

Or just order from AmiAmi. Cheaper than Play-Asia and it won't take a month to get to you (never cheap out on shipping at Play-Asia).

I actually just checked it out on AmiAmi and it seemed like the best place to get it. How much is the shipping for games there usually?

The inclusion of 結ンデ開イテ羅刹ト骸 really makes the desire to import much greater...

Please, I have to know. What does 結ンデ開イテ羅刹ト骸 mean?

EDIT: Oh, it's a song!

Hard to say because I usually end up getting games as part of a larger package with other things lumped in. I think Puyo Puyo Tetris is scheduled to go out alone early next month so I might be able to tell you then, though I always pick EMS shipping because I'm an impatient bastard.

The only things I've bought from there were two smallish figures, shipped together, and with SAL shipping option it ended up costing 15 bucks. I can't imagine a game would cost more than that, so that'd end up being like, at most, $75. I mean, at this point I'm just trying to save such small amounts of money in the grand scheme of things it doesn't even matter, lol.
