Hatsune Miku Project Diva series general discussion thread

I still need to pre-order this, the thought of dropping $70 hurts though.

Do we know how many new songs there are?
I think there are a total of 40 songs. Don't know off the top of my head how many of those 40 are brand new songs vs. songs returning from previous games, but even returning songs have retooled charts and visuals.

They probably delayed it so we'd all buy the English version of Project f ! Although, I'm sure a bunch of you are already doing that.

Good thing about the delay is that I can now combine my pre-orders of this and J-Stars Victory Vs, as they are now only one week from each other.

So there's only a handful of songs left to be revealed, right?

How crappy would it be if they were to announce that all of the remaining ones are all just returning songs from the previous game?

I kid. I kid.

Anyway there better be some Mitchie M songs in there, it's almost criminal that there aren't any so far.

Well, I would like to see Ame no Sweet Drops make a return, personally...

They've announced 32 out of 40. 16 are new, 16 are returning/revamped from the PSP games. So it's 50/50 so far, which I think is a decent ratio.

My point was that all returning songs so far are "enhanced" remakes of the PSP games, so they're not straight up rehashes. We haven't had copy-pasted songs from F so far.

Sorry I misunderstood you. I'm pretty certain they're not gonna include songs that were in the previous Vita game. It actually works better for them if there is no overlap, because they are more likely to sell copies of the previous game to series first-timers.

So has there been any rumors of a new special edition Hatsune Miku Vita 2000 to be released alongside F 2nd?

I think if it were going to happen we would have heard about it by now. We knew about the first Hatsune Miku Vita at least four months before DIVA F's release.

Still vague but we have a month now.

"Debuts" on PS Vita... How cute considering Japan gets the sequel on the same month...

From how they're talking about it on the Blog it looks like they're still going to charge us DLC for the Extra songs even though they gave us the PS3 version first. Wow, that's pretty crappy of them.

Another weird tidbit: it will have separate trophies from the PS3 version, which is strange because the Japanese version definitely had a single dual-platform set.

So I've been thinking about getting Project DIVA f for the PS3, I've played the demo a few dozen times over at this point and I am found wanting of this product. Are any stores carrying it, or is this only available through Amazon or Digital Download? I can't seem to find it anywhere in stores.

GameStop was the only national retailer to carry the game, and they failed to order enough copies to meet demand; almost everywhere stores only got enough copies to fulfill preorders. I had gathered as many retailer links as I could in the old OT; on a quick check, Frys seems to still show it as in stock.

I figured that might have been the case. I have no qualms about ordering it through Amazon, I wanted instant gratification by being able to purchase it and go home and play it. There is still digital as a way to go, but that's a whole other situation. I'd definitely prefer to have a disc over digital. Thanks for the info though! I do appreciate it.

Hey, I'm picking up a PS3 this Friday, first purchase will be digital Project Diva F, but I was wondering if Dreamy Theater 2nd is worth picking up, or if I can even use it...

What is ABSOLUTELY REQUIRED to get Dreamy Theater 2nd to work, software/hardware wise? Can I use a PSP that has Project Diva 1st/2nd loaded on the mem stick, or do I need to make sure the original UMD is in the drive? Let me know what I need (Other than obviously a JP PSN account + JP PSN Yen card.)

Dreamy theater will work , but you'll have access to only the first song .
To unlock the rest , you need a save for proect diva 2nd on a psp( with song and modules unlocked ) and the psp transfert program ( that came with dreamy theater ) on the same psp running....
Finaly you 'll need a psps usb tranfert cable to link your psp to your ps3 , this is required Everytime you wish to upgrade the song list or your module list ( that's why it's better to have a fully unlocked save file if you don't have the game )

Note that you can pick a savefile from internet( fully unlocked ) BUt you'll need to start the psp game with it and rewrite it at least once for it to be compatible with the transfert program

Quoting myself here. Hope DIva f2 turns out to be native res.

To me the f2 demo looked much better resolution-wise than f, but if they could go all the way to native it would be amazing.

Really they should note on the box what resolution the game runs at, like home console games.

Dreamy Theater is a real hassle to setup, and also pretty costly since you also need the corresponding PSP game (and an actual PSP for the transfer utility, not a Vita).

Quite frankly, I'd say with F 2nd coming soon and including most of the "greatest hits" of the pre-F games, Dreamy Theater is not worth bothering with anymore at this point.

That's not how it works, what is listed on home console game boxes is the effective resolution that is output to the screen, not the resolution of the game's display buffer. The point of displaying that data is so the consumer can know that it will be compatible with their TV. On a portable system there is no concept of different resolutions at a hardware level.

A game that supports 1080p output but is obviously upscaled, will still list 1080p on the box.

Quick question

How do you all adjust to the 60fps vs 30fps gameplay?

Since playing Dreamy Theater, my timing in the F game has been off, would like to somehow readjust before f 2nd

Well the intent of the label may be for TV compatibility but it is also (perhaps unintentionally) a description of the game's visual fidelity.

I am less familiar on the Xbox side of things (where everything can be upscaled to 1080...I think) but on PS3 if it only says 720 on the box that is all it is going to put out, ever. Even if the TV is 1080.

On the Vita there are games rendered and displayed at native resolution, and there are games less than that. I just rather that be advertised officially on the product itself, then to have to read impressions on message boards to figure that out.

The PS3 version of Red Faction Guerilla supports 1080p (and accordingly says so on the box) but is horribly upscaled from a sub-720p resolution. So no, the indication on the box doesn't mean jack as to the "visual fidelity", it literally just means what resolution the game will output to the HDMI/component ports, for hardware compatibility purposes.

Why would publishers willingly display what internal resolution they use? The consumer doesn't "need" to know that info.

Yeah, no, releases on PS3 and 360 dip below 720p all the time and the box will still happily proclaim it a 720p (or even 1080p) game. No correlation between the number on the box and the game's internal rendering resolution can or should be assumed.

Just to be clear on this: the requirements are:
  • A PSP (reportedly a Vita will work but this is not officially supported)
  • A copy of the game whose Dreamy Theater you'd like to link playable on your PSP
  • Be able to link your PSP and PS3 via USB
The game is required because the link program you download to your PSP will only read your save data if said save data is saved using that same PSP; the game itself doesn't have to be present the moment you link, just the save data.

Also, playing Dreamy Theater for the first time now will only make you sad that the current games aren't 60 FPS. Best to just forget it.

Second question :

I might as well JUST get Dreamy Theatre 2nd, since it has all the content, AND from what I understand, only requires a PSP to be connected the first time (And to unlock new modules if you haven't done so already), is that correct?

Also I have Project Diva 1st and 2nd, do I need save data from both to unlock everything?

Ownership of the PSP game is not optional, for reasons described above. You also must unlock content for Project DIVA 2nd on PSP before it becomes playable on Dreamy Theater 2nd.

I have both PSP games, that's not an issue, I was just wondering if it was worth getting the original Dreamy Theatre, or just DT 2nd...

reportedly a Vita will work but this is not officially supported
There's a banner on the official DT page

I'm not sure but judging by Google translation it looks like it confirms Vita support.

10 songs away from SP-ALLing Mirai 2. 3 of which still seem somewhat impossible, but my skill level is gradually rising.

Arifureta Sekai Seifuku
- Nearly there with this one, just need a little more practice.
Gaikotsushudan to Lilia
- Still seems impossible to me lol.
Melancholic
- This one just has some tricky triplets in the middle that I need to figure out then it'll be no problem.
Kimi no Taion
- Fast but doable I think.
Glow
- Has a weird d-pad/button combination section towards the end but I think I can do it.
Invisible
- Impossible tier.
Matroishka
- See above.
1925
- Has some slightly tricky double inputs, but should be doable with enough practice.
Hello/How are you
- Has some really complicated button change-ups. Seems really hard.
Ageage Again
- All the d-pad work in this one looks complicated, but I think I'll get it eventually.

Whoo, okay, spent the day downloading/installing/updating stuff on PS3, but still got some quality time with Project Diva F, AND managed to get Dreamy Theatre 2 into my JP account's cart, for when I can get a Japanese PSN cash card.

I LOVE WEEKENDER GIRL SO MUCH. Been playing as Kasane Teto most of the time too, so having a blast thus far.
