Have you ever "quit" gaming?

And it really resonated with me. Growing up I couldn't imagine ever quitting gaming but as an adult it started losing its luster and I quit for quite awhile. Even now I don't play all that much.

Yes and Demon's Souls saved me and my hobby from that awful, AWFUL generation

No but I have quit YouTube due to fake reactions and home alone fk face attention seeking engagement click baiting clips and ai trailers and more
I quit tv for gaming and goto movies now and again

I have never quit gaming as a whole but I have quit some types of gaming. Played solo League of Legends from like 2010 or 11, uninstalled it in 2015 and it was the best decision I ever made, I then quit most other multiplayer games that I used to play alone, now whenever I play one I do it with friends or I don't do it at all.
There are exceptions, I play the likes of Battlefield, Hell Let Loose and Squad alone but those are different types of games and the people (in the case of HLL and Squad) are usually pretty cool and chill.

I quit MMOs, if that counts.

This was many years ago, but they were having a significant hold on my life. I was lucky to be young enough and catch myself before it became too big of an issue.

These days, I can't really go more than a couple of hours of gaming before needing a breather, or being restless and wanting to do something else.

Nope, never. Had dry spells due to IRL commitments and can go quite a while without getting new releases. But I thoroughly enjoy this hobby and will keep on gaming until they rip the controller out my dead hands.

Nope. I go through periods where my game time dips dramatically. It happens around spring and then picks back up in summer. Not sure why. I get sidetracked and distracted by other hobbies, I think.

Nah. I have a healthy relationship with the hobby AND multiple hobbies. If I'm not enjoying one, I take a break and do something else.

I try not to make too much of a fuss either way. Like, i practically dont watch movies anymore, doesn't mean i quit movies. I may still watch something every now and then.

No, I've never completely quit, but when I was in the Army I didn't have a great deal of time for it. Now, working on my third degree, and it's easily the most difficult of my degrees, admittedly I'm essentially not playing at all currently, but I can't wait to play again somewhat consistently next year when I finish this one up. I may go for a fourth degree if I'm relatively close after wrapping this one up, but I haven't decided yet, and honestly I'm kinda over college at this point, and I'm fuckin old and I wanna play some vidjy before it's too late -_-.

tldr: Yep, quit twice, went from Famicom → SNES → DS → Wii → Switch.

I played from child to maybe 18 or 19 years old, when I started university in 97 or 98, had a Famicom clone and a SNES, fortunately bought most RPGs which are pretty expensive nowadays to get. The VR32 and the Ultra 64 were already showing previews when I stopped caring much about gaming, but then kept my SNES connected til end of century. Then I returned in 2004 or 2005, I skipped N64 and GC to buy a DS and then a Wii, was active for like 4 or 5 years, then quit before Wii U was even hinted at (not even 3DS was hinted at from what I remember). I have several DS and Wii sealed games that I bought but never opened. Then I returned in 2023 with the Switch oled, was going to buy one a Tolueno which is one of those USB retro consoles because I had bought a Logitech gamepad to play Mame games and wanted something for the TV but the place was sold out, so I bought a Switch instead. Still going strong, but I know I will eventually quit again once my interest fades.

I've been burnt out on gaming or I sometimes flip flop between games and don't play anything, but I've never quit.

Even when it's slow, I consume gaming news every day, so I never fall out of touch with it.

You'll have to pry this hobby out of my cold, dead hands.

Funny because I didn't game much at all in the 2000s. A game here and there tops. A friend showed me Demon's Souls one night at a party at his house, I was like yea whatever. When Dark Souls came out he talked me into buying that and I lost my mind over that game. Kickstarted my passion for games again.

"I can't quit you"

Not really, maybe "quite" during travelling or vacation. I do spend less in buying new games and that's as close as I can call being "quit".
