Have you ever wondered why you never won shit on McDonald's Monopoly in the 90s?

Someone won the harrier jet that they advertised on the commercials one time. Apparently, they were told something along the lines of “LOL” when they tried to claim the prize so they had to take McDonald’s to court. if I’m remembering correctly, the judge ruled that they had to cough up a harrier jet for the prize winner somehow.

Yeah, long story short the mob infiltrated the company that printed the game pieces and the big winners were given to pre arranged winners.

Pretty sure you're thinking of Pepsi points.

I've known about this caper for years, but I didn't realize the mafia was behind it. I just thought it was some random dude at the factory giving winning pieces to his friends and splitting all the money.

It wasn't the mafia behind it, it was one guy (that wasn't part of the mafia) that got other people to help, one of those people being related to the mafia.

In 2005 the Monopoly game included Best Buy bucks, you were guaranteed at least $1 per sticker pull that could be used at BB. I sent in several hundred self addressed stamped envelopes and received one of the BB stickers and four of the monopoly game pieces per envelope. Ended up with several hundred dollars to use at BB and a shitload of free food for McDs. Didn't get any big prize though. The BB bucks had the ability to be used online, but it didn't invalidate it for being used in store. I ended up buying a bunch of the 360 launch games with the BB bucks online then going in store to use them to buy other things. It was great!

There's also professional contest losers who submit tons of applications knowing the clearing house isn't going to cross verify every form even though every contest says one entry per person.

At one of my old companies the same person won 3 years in a row.
