A book or HBO series based on Robert's Rebellion era would be all my dreams come true.
I often find the stories of younger Ned, Robert, Jaime, the King's Guard, etc from that time a lot more interesting than the present day stuff in ASoIaF.

Because everything they've done story wise that is original has been bad and besides D&E and the main text there's no ASOIAF work worth anything in its own right.
It's probably going to end up like Star Wars with them basically retreading the series but with the tone of Shannara Chronicles.

I wouldn't have high expectations for spin-offs. There is no way GRRM can write all of it himself, chances are most of it would come from HBO and everytime the current show has HBO original content it's mediocre or flat out bad (ex:
). Even if they nailed the writing and the plot (which they have trouble doing with solid source material), we know what happens, who wins, who loses. While the journey is more important than the destination, the mystery is one of the aspects of GoT that make it so entertaining. I'm not sure it'll hold up w/o it.

Dunk and Egg is already written and Princess and the Queen is pretty extensive.
Only 3 short stories are written for Dunk and Egg.
The Princess and the Queen would be out of their budget. Too many dragon battles.

Adventures of Pod and Brienne! I don't even care if the timeline makes no sense...just put these two on a horse and let them explore.
I'd also settle for a story around Tormund and Brienne where they get married. Make it some bizarre fantasy world married with children.

Robert's Rebellion would be my first choice since you have a lot of the same characters that we already know. seeing younger versions of some of our favorite characters would be fun.

Absolutely no desire to see dunk and egg. Give me the rebellion, rise of the targareyans, and fall of the children of the forest.
But the last two episodes of GoT has been better than anything I read from GRRM in the past decade...
Well that's because he only pushed out one book in the past decade.
Some people just have bad taste.
That's not a very nice thing to say about KahooTs. He's still a member here and we should respect his opinions even if we don't agree.
Real talk though, I enjoyed Spider-Man 3 more than Spider-Man 2 but I know Spider-Man 2 is the better movie.
Same would apply here.
One's a layered fantasy book series and the other is popcorn television. You could enjoy the show more than the books and that's valid.
But when it comes to the competing the quality of writing, it's not even a contest. The books win.
It's like comparing The Shining to Goosebumps.
They should let go off literally the most popular TV show airing right now with a world that has endless possibilities for a franchise that only gamers and Polish people know?

Meh Season 6 was good.
Season 5 was the real problem and that partly because they had to adapt books 4 and 5 which were astronomical trash. Nothing but holding patterns and filler.
TV additions have been insanely hit and miss though. Ranging from amazing(Hardhome) to pure filth(Dorne).
His story and characters have got their hooks into people, any shoddy CGI fest will do with those characters for the short time left in which they intend to finish.
Problem with the rest of the material besides D&E is that none of it is really a story. It reads like plot points, history, it needs to be turned into a story.
And why? So HBO can milk it out and GRRM can keep collecting cheques. D&D were at least passionate for a time with their shock violence fetish.

I have my problems with the circumstances surrounding the Northern plot in 6.09, but both it and 10 are mostly excellent pieces of television.
The declaration for Jon becomes even more powerful when you compare it to Robb's coronation.

I don't see it, man. Robb actually won his battles and saved Riverrun with his ingenuity.
Jon made mistakes left and right, got his ass handed to him and needed the Vale to save him. He comes off as a pale imitation of Robb in the show. Jon's kingship isn't earned like ofnwas for Robb.
Jon is the Gary Stu character Game of Thrones needs and deserves. The Prince Who Was Promised. The Undying. Commander of the Wall. King in the North. Husbando of Dragons.
The show is depressing enough as it is when all the good people die off. It's time we got a hero who has victories handed to him because of destiny so we can feel good about watching cool action and big epic battles without worrying about "reality" or "morality" all the time.

Aegon's Conquest, Blackfyre Rebellions, Dance of Dragons or the Conquest of the Stepstones are the ones that I would like to happen, but they might not.
Season 5 could've been good if they had actually taken a year off to work on the scripts. The only reason it's so bad besides the usual problems is because D & D weren't sure the actors were going to renew their contracts to season 8 so they acted as if they were going to finish in season 7.
And then after they finished filming, it turned out that season 8 was good to go, they decided to pad season 6 to hell and back.
You could cut out half the episodes from season 6 and you will not have missed anything of importance.
Seasons 5 and 6 have major pacing issues.
But besides that season 6 is full of plot holes anyways. Once you start thinking about what's going on, you realize that very little of it makes sense. Like Arya's storyline in Braavos and Jaime's adventure into Dorne.
So basically you want Epic Pooh.

Michael Moorcock (what an unfortunate name) wrote an essay called Epic Pooh deriding celebrated fantasy authors like CS Lewis and Tolkien and others.
One of his criticisms is that they had the same goals as Winnie the Pooh, that is they seek to comfort its readers rather than challenge them and that their stories were escapist literature that refused to deal with issues raised by the real world.
No, I agree with you on that. Declaring for the White Wolf came out of desperation. In normal circumstances a bastard would obviously not be KitN, especially one that nearly lost to the Boltons if it weren't for Vale ex machina. But it earns pathos for the audience nonetheless because we've seen the hardships Jon has been through for six seasons and we obviously just found out his true parentage. Jon's entire journey led up to this one moment, and facts aside it feels good, in a show which has so few of those moments. It doesn't earn it entirely but IMO it comes close enough.
