HDTV for my bedroom

I'm thinking about buying this.

I already have a regular, 4:3 HDTV by Samsung in my living room, the TXN2771HF, which I really like, but I need something for my bedroom, something that will not take up much space, widescreen, be unexpensive, and allow me to play HD games and movies. The HDMI connexion will sure come in handy for future HD-DVD and Blu-Ray players that may or may not require it. I have all component cables for current-gen consoles, I have a good DVD player, and I am definitely planning to play next-gen content on it.

Problem is, the reviews for the 30 inches model actually scare me into buying this. This one has got one review, and the 34 inches models has got only four reviews while the 30 inches model has got 22 reviews.

I made a search with the model number and came up with nothing. Does anyone owns this set, or one of the higher models, and could tell me if it would be a good choice or not? The price is sure excellent (it's on sale at Futureshop at that), and it seems good, but the reviews mention hefty flaws. Could this have been corrected with this new, 26 inches model?

I thought I'd chime in with my own question/request for advice. This thread looks like a good start.

I'd like a proscan (480/540/720p) Tele. Problem is, I have a microscopic living space (2mX3m approximately). I'm guessing the largest size I can squeeze in here would be the equivalent of a 4:3 20'' Tele. (I could do a widescreen as long as it isn't taller than what a 4:3 20'' is.)

Now here's the big problem:

I do not want a bloody LCD or plasma monitor. They die too quickly and are too bloody expensive. CRT would be my ideal. I need something that will last.

The other thing is, I'm not exactly looking to purchase a set right now. So, if there's something on the horizon that'll suit my needs in the next couple of years, that acceptable too.

KLee? Other HT experts?

Do you live in Europe?

There are no CRT HDTVs under 26 inches in size. No 4:3 CRT HDTVs under 27 inches also. Because of high-def, I guess you just got to keep a certain amount of size for it to be worthwhile, at least for CRTs.

I own this. It works like a dream, both DVDs and proscan GCN games look fantastic, I highly recommend it. It doesn't have HDMI, but it does have DVI. Otherwise it seems similar enough to yours.

Also: you can't get smaller than this without either going to LCD or dropping HD. I've looked long and hard, and I firmly believe it's impossible.

SED/FED would fit the bill, but it will probably be available in larger sizes for a awhile before smaller ones become available - and obviously for most consumers the technology is a few years off. The other technology worth noting is SlimCRT (supposedly becoming available later this year), which is still probably going to be in the 30-40" range, but with half the depth of conventional sets.

It's not going to stay there long anyway. :lol

And to Moogle, I know about all these technologies, but right now I am looking for an inexpensive, short-term solution (which is probably going to end up to someone else someday), and it seems to be my best bet. My main concern is picture quality, the reviews about the 30-inches Toshiba model on Amazon.com are mostly abysmal, so I kinda wanted to have a knowledgeable, gamer's perspective.

Then after I will wait and probably just buy a great SED tv set when the technology has proven it's worth and the price becomes affordable. :lol

If you think a TV set in the bedroom interferes with loving imagine how a 2 month old who keeps conveniently waking up from just being laid down to take her nap inteferes with shower lovin! ;)
