HDTV view

I've read up about HDTV, and from what i understand you'll get increased clarity of picture and a wider view. That's what I'd expect from buying a new TV more or less. I'll still be able to see all the graphical effects and increased polygon count and whatnot on my current tv. That's where a games graphical beauty truly shines.

I don't get the hype, it's just a new tv goddamnit.

Yeah, if you're getting a next-gen system (X360 or PS3)...you need an HDTV. Seriously, save up and buy the cheap small ones if you have to, but don't go into next-gen without one because the resolution upgrade is just incredible.

Don't encourage him with advice.

Silly comparison perhaps, but try this on your computer: set your screen resolution to 320x240 or 640x480, then to something much higher. Do you see a difference? If not then keep on trucking.

My tvs usually have a 5 years lifespan when I think about it, so I'll get one for the ps3 launch

you heard it here first. x360 not even good enough for a TV upgrade.

Yup, just haven't seen the difference between the tv sets in person.

anything in 1080i will convince you HDTV hype is real even if you dont have your tv next to it for comparison.

dont be fooled by some of the tvs you see in stores. some of them are not set up right and they arent displaying a picture that is being fed in true HD.

Wow. THe orginal poster obviously hasn't seen true HDTV yet. It'll dawn on you eventually. ;)

I think I subconsciously rule out anything that I can't afford at the moment without the wallet taking a hit. When I think of it, I like it that way.

Apologise for the thread mods, but I've had a hard day and it's nice to relax with mary jane ^_^

Well here's the view from a window in my very tall house. Looks real to me. Oh wait it's just my HDTV.

you do know that your compressed digital camera pics of your sets don't look anywhere near as impressive as you are making them out to be, right? color patches, serious blooming, and some pretty severe red push on the first system hardly do HDTV the justice it deserves..

just saying.
