Friend and I two-manned late last night on the new patch. On Hellmire, with the fire tornadoes, on difficulty 9, with predator strain and regular Dragonroach spawns. Also the DSS Eagle Storm was active lol. Point was to experiment a bit with the changes - chiefly for CC because predator strain calls for a specialized loadout to deal with the neverending waves of Stalkers.
We each tried out a pair of assault rifles. The Pacifier has medium armor penetration and stuns enemies in place for... idk, 3 whole seconds. The buff in the last patch to the amount of stun damage (33% per round; also +5 damage) is not insignificant. Ultimately though we both felt more comfortable sticking with the ol' reliable: The Liberator Concussive. It has only light armor pen and stuns enemies for less time but it can also knock stuff back and even with a somewhat lower DPS has much more longevity for its bigger mag size. I played longer with the LibCon last night but was at multiple points moving my reticle between three stalkers to keep them under control.
For the runs themselves, we had a tough time. We played around with our loadouts a little, but Dragonroach spawns forced both of us to run Railcannon Strike. One of us would bring Quasar (cheap, reliable Charger control) and the other some backpack - either a Guard Dog or Shield Backpack (the latter of which saved us from the DSS on multiple occasions). 1/2 Machine Gun Sentries for general CC with maybe an Autocannon Turret, a 500kg for heavy spawners, and Napalm Barrage/Emancipator/Cluster Bombs for more CC (he liked Clusters the most). For general equipment I ran the Grenade Pistol for bug nests and medium armor enemies/Bile Spewers and Thermite for 'oh shit' moments against Chargers. My friend also tried Eruptor+Talon once - seemed to work ok?
Anyway, mostly 'failed to extract' for us since we were usually going for everything and the game just kept widdling away our lives: Combination of mortar strikes bouncing us into fire tornadoes or misc. wombo combos. Or being pinned into walls by Chargers (still, even with the countermeasures we brought) not letting us stim tank through the damage. The Dragonroaches weren't so much of a problem because we were so attentive to them, but waiting for those motherfuckers to actually attack is so annoying - They have to drop down to strike because otherwise Railcannon won't lock on, and we generally need to wait until their first fire breath pass is completed at which point they'll usually stand still for a few seconds and we can toss out the RCS.
