Help me buy a TV!

OMG. GAF has some plasma owners! :o a decent one as well i think.

If you dont want to break the bank get a CRT. It WILL deliver for quality. The other options are ussualy for size, weight, screen size etc. :)

VGA 852x480 native resolution and burn-in makes it only worth $1000 in my eyes.

Glad you like it tho.

I see you're still in the dark about these new Plasmas as well. do anyone here research before they buy anything.. good grief!

To quote Cnet, Plasmas that are made today no less chance of burn as other phosphor tech displays with calibration" non-touch mode"

Also they're second to CRT for displaying black levels.

Passing around this old first gen plasma info isn't good DaCocoBrova, I had you on a higher pedestal than others here.

I do the audio/video thing profesionally (integrated system's engineer). I have my reasons for not liking plasmas. Using one is proof positive. I'm glad you're happy with your purchase, however, I could care less about manufacturer gimmicks and the like with regards to burn in... It's still an issue on the consumer end.

The screen door effect is my main gripe w/ plasmas. That and they're limited life span... Oh, and price.

My main gripe with today's Plasmas are the price. $3000~$4000 for 42" DETV is too much when you can get a 50~56" HDTV DLP set for the same money (and no chance of burn-ins what so ever with DLPs).

The screen door effect varies with different models, as for the life span... I really dont think you research.. Plasmas now have a live span of 60,000 hours, 8 hours a day viewing would last you 20 years.

come on DaCocoBrova!

I'm not buying anything with bulbs in it(DLP, LCD projection), rather get a CRT rear projection, they have better black levels anyways.
