i'm really in a bind here and am hoping one of my fellow gaffers can help me out. does anyone have a persausive speech i could um... borrow? topic does not matter, but it must be 5-7 minutes long. i... uh... just need something to get me going. any help is appreciated.

I think this is one of those life lessons buddy. The lesson where you learn that being a lazy sonofabitch doesnt excuse you from what the rest of us managed to get through with at they very least, minimal effort. Im no scholar, and I certainly am not ambitious, but I somehow managed to get everything done I needed to in school and surprise, I didnt need anyone else to do it for me.

If youre gonna be lazy, do it in a practical manner.

I got an A in speech class. That was one of my favorite classes, for some reason. One of my persuasive speeches was "Why we need harsh penalties for stores that sell M rated games to minors"

I did mine on Clean Syringe exchange. Just argue that giving clean needles to addicts is cheaper than treating AIDs patients. Give examples of how the system works in some European countries. Refute the argument that you're helping addicts do drugs by saying that you're helping anyone who unknowingly has sex with the addict.

5-7 minute speaking time is nothing since speech is a relatively slower medium than say reading printed text silently.

That's roughly maybe 2-3 pages of double spaced script. Pick a topic you have an interest in, something that gets you fired up.


1) violence in games and censorship - pro/con position (this might be a good idea actually)
2) politics (depends on your political viewpoint but always interesting)
