Henry Kissinger dead at 100.

"Once you’ve been to Cambodia, you’ll never stop wanting to beat Henry Kissinger to death with your bare hands. You will never again be able to open a newspaper and read about that treacherous, prevaricating, murderous scumbag sitting down for a nice chat with Charlie Rose or attending some black-tie affair for a new glossy magazine without choking. Witness what Henry did in Cambodia – the fruits of his genius for statesmanship – and you will never understand why he’s not sitting in the dock at The Hague next to Milošević."

RIP. Haven’t read any of his books yet, will change that soon. Diplomacy looks like a good one.

A fascinating figure who committed unspeakable evils and snuffed out countless lives towards what he thought was a dutiful goal.

Hes dead now, hes in gods hands far as im concerned. But if I was the judge, I'd probably not be favorable to his overall legacy.

Can't wait for the biopic.

The book by Walter Isaacson is not a bad one also. Though not entirety objective since Walter was younger then. Objectivity and fearlessness sometimes come with age.

One of the most powerful us politicians of all time. His influence and policy advice shaped much of the world at the time.
Are we talking the good kind or the "Lets play exploiting imperialists in South America while criticising everyone else for being exploiting imperialists" kind?

A psychopath and a supremacist who helped overthrow a democratically elected Chilean leader because "the issues are much too important for the Chilean voters to be left to decide for themselves" and sponsored his replacement by all-round do-gooder Augusto Pinochet. A despicable and embarrassing stain on history.

You should come to your own conclusions. From the lens of the future we may see decisions as evil but in the moment they may have been the least bad choice at the time. History is interesting like that.

Shining example of it’s not about your skill but who you know that allows you to stay in power

His crimes got him a kush life up to a 100, in gods hands now

Does anyone ever say 100 years is 20 generations in 2,000 years.

Only 20 generations, civilization seems so young to me then really.

Kissinger was not a uniquely bad apple amidst a group of highly scrupulous ethicists. The rest of the governments he was part of, and the American body politic electing them, to a large extent, approved of what he was doing. He was willing to do literally any act to make America win, and win America did, and today progressive Americans call him a war criminal from a position of unparalleled prosperity on the world stage. How much wealth would you, personally, sacrifice to hold the moral high ground? Would you sacrifice it all?
