Legitimate question, is Shia on drugs? He's acting so weird.

He's been doing this ever since it came out he stole the story for his movie from a comic. Basically a walking meme now.

Thought Emoji Movie was good. Take that as you will.
I'd grab some camp chairs, some big black markers and blank signs and have some fun here. Also, cooler of beer.

True and at first I was a bit annoyed by what seemed like Shia's attempt to make everyone forget about the plagiarism incident... but then he started doing genuinely cool shit like his performance in American Honey and his 5 Fingers of Death freestyle. At this point I feel he deserves to come back down from this elaborate defense mechanism he's created for himself... but then that might interfere with the cool shit so I dunno.

If he keeps giving performances like he did in Fury then he can do whatever he wants. I actually do like the idea of this but man the execution isn't nearly as poetic.

I am fucking loving this.
I just check every half hour, see how everything is going, and then go back to whatever I am doing.

EDIT

Anybody know where I can grab myself this girl's jacket? Thanks.

Looks like some kind of oversized sherpa jean jacket. It's old I bet, patches might have been added after she bought it. Try vintage websites, etsy, asos marketplace, etc for Levi's sherpa jacket.

The Austin Walker bit is gonna be the highlight of this. If you can get all of these people to show up, surely you could do something more then repeat the same thing over and over and over again. I appreciate it as a form of art though.

People underestimate the impact that demonstrations such as this can have though. And Shia's piece doesn't prevent people from doing other impactful things - from campaigning, protesting, getting the word out about midterms, volunteering, etc. It's easy to step into something like this, say "This is silly. You guys should be doing something else," and step out (not saying this is what you're doing, or even what Austin Walker is doing) instead of viewing this as part of a larger form of discourse and civic engagement.

Regarding Austin's bit: I think he's approaching this project the wrong way. But maybe that's because I don't view the "He Will Not Divide Us" as a statement that's supposed to unite a whole country, free of dissent and differences of opinion, but rather as a means of marshaling together those who are opposed to trump. Another way to look at it is that it's a means of standing together against someone like Trump and holding steadfast in the upcoming four years on principles of inclusion, kindness, and solidarity. I don't see it as a plea to Trump voters to fall in line with those that oppose the current administration.

But that's just my take I guess. I'd never heard of Austin Walker before this thread so I can't speak to his general views.

It took me a while to realise that Shia wasn't just some random hobo. It did seem strange that he got people to back up though.

Edit: What happened? They went silent like someone was telling them something, then they all went crazy.
All artists want to look poor, including his rich friends. It's working class drag and it's gross

That makes it sound even less useful. Is there a worry about Trump deviding the people that voted against him that I don't know about?

Overall, I agree with Austin's criticisms, but in the end the project as a whole is better than nothing, which I think is what Austin thinks too.

I see it as a foundation for conversation. What can be less useful than nothing at all.
It is something, regardless if you disagree or not. Why throw salt into a new constant voice that is a reminder to not cause more division between the people. Austin's appearance actually strengthened the message. Him saying we are already divided was a negative narrative that could possibly cause division between the people against the message what division? the acts of standing strong against discrimination based on race , sexuality, color ,creed, religion, etc and those that will say we are already divided so we might as well be complacent and quite. As far as star power I don't know Shia or jaden but I am also aware we live in different times. a celebrity voice holds more weight with the general populace.

I found Austin Walker's appearance very cringey. Not because of what he says. But the context in which he says it. Jaden being Jaden and doing weird shit, other 2 ladies just zoning out, and Austin giving that sermon to the camera just makes him seem like a crazy person.

That video is just mad awkward

Even on GAF you see people who hate Trump in-fight about a) what the best route is going forward b) what the core issues that should be addressed are c) whether too much emphasis was put in issue x or y during the election, etc. There are a lot of people opposed to Trump that in-fight for various reasons. And while it's fine and normal to have differences of opinion, I don't think it's bad or even useless to remind people of their shared goal.

"He Will Not Divide Us" may not have been the best mantra to use, but I think the larger goal of the project is to foster participation and unity.

Well I tuned in just in time to hear a Trump supporter screaming into the camera. Now it's turned into a Gregorian Chant session.

Edit: the same one screaming at the camera really thinks Madonna, Lady Gaga, and Hillary all need to be locked up. Oh, and Lady Gaga is a communist.

.....a couple is staring in the camera constantly repeating he will not divide us....not going to lie this is some scary shit at 1 am in the morning

This woman saying that repeatedly is kind of creepy :S
The guy on the background is a douche and he's this close to punching someone in the face.

This is too weird.

I had to laugh at young mustache man mimicking the "he will not divide us."

Edit: Then he had to badmouth Shia... :(

lol. So weird of you to say that. Disruptors are harmless, and the other guy trying to mind his business is creepy af. lol.

Yes, I think saying the same 5 words over and over is creepy.

All I saw of the Trump guy was his face in the camera blabbing about some nonsense for a few minutes. I didn't see the umbrella thing. ¯\_(ツ)_/¯
