Hey, fellas, Alan Wake or God of War III?

Alan Wake is a better, more fun game but GoW3 is more of a crowd pleaser and has more variety. Alan Wake is smarter, GoW3 is bro-er.

Sorry! I swear I didn't think that counted as a spoiler.
You don't actually HEAR the song until AFTER you have learned the information that's in it. It's more like if you are confused by the things the game has already told you, if you listen then hopefully it clears everything up for you.

Sorry, paranoid about spoilers. :lol Had way too many "BIG REVEALS" and stuff spoiled throughout my life.

Neither, get something you can actually play together like Super Street Fighter IV or a cool arcade racer or something.

SSFIV is a horrible game to play with casuals because the skill levels are so different. It's useless for me to play with my friends because they could never beat me. Something like Tekken would be probably better. Or good old Virtua Tennis.

On topic, GOW3, no contest. As said before, it's very fun to watch and even more to play. Alan Wake... Not so much.

If you like to think, Alan Wake.

:lol

Why are you asking which of two single player games are best to play with friends?

The answer is Burnout Paradise.

Haven't played Alan Wake, but God of War 3 is very fun and is a huge visual spectacle but is also very short.

So even though the OP made his choice (God of War 3) I wonder how many more times people are going to chime in with their suggestions?

Console exclusives, kind of difficult to pirate them. Well except the 360 i guess, maybe. But seriously though I don't think either of those games is worth the full price. The only reason I would even consider buying Alan Wake is because well I would be thinking about how good Max Payne 2 was the whole time.

I think that Alan Wake is the more surprising game as it's a new IP with an interesting story, great graphics, maybe a little too simplistic gameplay but it's still good. GOW3 is pretty much the same than GOW1&2 but with improved graphics, you won't be surprised by anything except by the scale and the bossfights.

I'd say that neither of those is a good choice to play with friends though. I'd recommend Alan Wake because it's designed like a TV show, you could discuss the plot with your friends episode by episode, and be wowed by the cliffhangers, but that's pretty much it, it's better to enjoy it alone at night, episode by episode.

You should play both, though, they are among the best games of this year. Personnally, Alan Wake is my favorite mainly beause it's a new IP by one of my favorites developers. I also liked GOW3 though, but there's nothing really new here.

EDIT : oh, OP made his choice, my bad. Well, you should still play Alan Wake later I think, maybe alone would be the better experience after all, I don't really know, I only play single players games... single.

I will, don't worry. It's just a matter of which I'm getting first.
