Hey sleepers. What kind of white noise do you like?

Honestly I can’t sleep without some noise going on. I have done like 5 apps; using ‘portal’ now and I love it.

I got a chance to use one of those 60$ white noise machines that you can twist to adjust the sound but felt it never got loud enough.

If anything just having a fan on in another room will do it for me.

What do you use?

I use YouTube on tv. Usually some serial killer doco, or universe, or nexpo nightmind.

Including a fan as well.

I sometimes use Sleep Machine app

With a mix of rain, fan and far away train as the sounds together.

I’m the same way.

ear plugs + air purifier on low + ambient noise app on Alexa playing space deck

For naps I usually go with rain or rainforest on the same app. Sometimes I’ll go wild and use thunderstorm.

I also had one of the physical noise machines that you twist and it wasn’t loud enough. My air purifier beats it.

I used to listen to gentle music for years but more recently put on some 2-3 hour long Youtube videos of birds singing in a forest.

Nothing and prefer it to as quiet as possible. Very light sleeper.

My neighbor has a pump in his pool that barely makes any noise but I can’t sleep in my room due the fact that I can still hear it at night, doesn’t bother me any other time but I need quiet.

“Aww, it’s so...average,” she said to him in a cold brick of passion
I use a tower fan and if I am really restless I will throw on an audiobook in the background.

I have youtube premium so I find a 10 hour Elder Scrolls soundtrack on my phone, typically the "rainy town" or "relaxing ambience" kinds, turn the screen off and go right to sleep.

Sleep machine

Its kinda broken I need to buy a new one, but I still use it every day/night. Also, I keep the tv on as I'm about to sleep with a sleep timer sometimes. Used to use a fan before I got the sleep machine.

I use ASMR or something like classical guitar music. Anyone else ASMR? The French Whisperer is super good.

Just play Netflix or local tv, usually have it run a show in a background, it helps with my sleep paralysis that I get on occasion.

A company being excited for their new game is a huge slap in the face to all the fans that liked their old games.
My gf has one on her iPad called Sleep Sounds or some shit with a huge selection of looping sounds you can mix and match to make your perfect white noise.

I like this one called Eternity that's got a pretty zen monk vibe to it, mixed with various rains, thunder, and rustling leaves.

Shit's Pavlovian by now. Once she turns that on I'm signaling for landing.

Cool, dark and cozy. No noise. But I can live with rain. I'm a deep sleeper, so once I'm out nothing is waking me up except my alarm clock or perhaps a giant piss. Oddly, But I've never woken up needing to take a huge dump. Not sure why that is.

I'm no scientist, but I'd rather it be cool and I snuggle in a blanket than have it hotter with no blanket. Not sure why that is but pretty sure most people are the same even if the temperatures are similar.

I've never slept without using a blanket (even if it's a thin one), except for a few days my AC bombed and it was summer. Had to sleep in the basement for a few days.

NO PAIN TRANCE CONTINUE
Cool thread. I wish I'd discovered this sooner seeing I have troubles sleeping for whole my life. Still very happy I've finally found something that makes falling asleep a little easier. I tend to fo for rain without thunder because that's just a tiny little bit distracting it seems, although I love the sounds of it. I do feel like I should experiment a little more with different soundscapes but yeah, the one I posted above really does the trick.

I don't see how people sleep with white noise, I would find it distracting.
To me quiet is distracting. Like hearing my breathing and my dog snoring while my ears ring when it’s too quiet makes me nuts. With my old girlfriend I had to have noise because I would concentrate too hard on my breathing being distracting to her.

Mostly it’s just weird hearing noise all day then trying to sleep with that buzz in your ears hearing slight odd noises.
