Example #1.

Ahem:

DAYUM
I LEIK IT LEIK THAT
SHE WORKEN THAT BACK
DONT NOE HOW 2 ACT
SLOWMOTONEFORMEH
SLOWMOTONEFORMEH
SLOWMOTONEFORMEH
MOVE IN SLOW MOTON FOR MEH

...I mean what the fuck.

I don't really seek out hip-hop or rap music, but most songs I've heard consist of 8 or 4 or sometimes even 2 bars of music repeated over and over again with barely any variation. What's up with that?

These lyrics are obviously fake... right?
No, they aren't.

[Soulja Slim:]
Slow motion for me, slow motion for me, move in slow motion for me,
Slow motion for me, slow motion for me, move in slow motion for me

[Chorus (Soulja Slim X2)]
Uhhh, I like it like that, she working that back, I don't know how to act,
Slow motion for me, slow motion for me, Slow motion for me, move in slow motion for me,

[Verse 1 (Soulja Slim)]
I'm a dick thrower, her neck and her back hurting,
Cut throat will have her like a brand new virgin,
Its like when she gets used of it, then you start serving,
Hop on top and start jiggy-jiggy jerking,
Slow down for me, you moving too fast,
My fingers keep slipping, I'm trying to grip that ass,
Keep being hard headed and I'ma make you get on me,
Got a human up disguise but my face is a doggy,
If You loving my ball, let me bury my bone,
I got four or five bad married bitches at home
One of my bitches fell in love with that outside dick,
That outside dick keep them hoes sick, like

[Chorus X2]

[Verse 2 (Juvenile)]
Its like I got the world in my palm, your girl up under my arm
She fucked up from the charm,
She love the way the dick still hard from 12 till early in the morn,
fine bitches if you listening you heared me i'm strong,
If you going through your cycle I ain't with it i'm gone,
you must've heared about them hoes that I beat up in my home,
They wasn't telling the truth baby you know they was wrong,
Now, make it official and drink some of that Dom,
I don't mind buying blue, you riding too, don't be asking a nigga question bout where I'm driving you,
Lil mamma my shit together I ain't jiving you,
I don't think that nigga could do you better than I could do, you know
The Juvenile from cross the street by the derby,
Same nigga used to be runnin' with Rusty and Kirby,
Can a playa from tha nolia get a chance with it,
but I can't bounce with you without using my hands with it

[Chorus X2]

[Verse 3 (Soulja Slim and Juvenile)]
[Soulja Slim]
Slow Motion, she open, I'm hopin' she don't leave my dick broken,
with brush burns and swollen, I'm toting she don't wanna make me out and believe her,
I guarantee I'ma see ya when I see ya,
And just don't holla out my name like we was all in,
Yo pussy throwback, and you know that,
So stop stunt'n, slow motion for a real nigga,
I'm gone off that incredible potion and i'ma deal with you

[Juvenile]
I like how them Victoria Secrets sit in that ass,
Lemme pour some more hyp and hennesy in ya glass,
Would I be violating, If I grabbed me handfull,
I'm knowing whats happening, all I want is a sample,
Who you wit ? I'm in a rental today,
Its going down and happening and I remember the way,
Less money we spend on bullshit, the more for the weed
Whats it gonna take for you to come in slow motion with me like,

[Chorus X2]

You're obviously listening to mainstream rap. Just like mainstream rock, it sucks. You're not going to find ANY good music on the radio or TV. You have to look for it.

hey, diablos, you jackass. songs like that excel in clubs, you know, where dancing is required.

try going there one day. it's a lot of fun, and girls are there.

Hip hop is so annoying though. Honestly if I see another Lil this or Lil that pollute my television set I am going to pull my hair out.

Diablos, aren't you the guy who likes those shitty bands like Hoobastank? Do you really have any room to be talking here?

He thinks I listen to Hoobaskank, Em!

Janus: "grunge" hasn't been used since like 1993. Welcome to last decade, enjoy your stay.

Yeah, I used to be a BIG fan of rap back in the days, but once shit like Biggie and Puffy became big, I started to tune out.

But as I’ve discovered, there is some good stuff out there, but it’s no where near the spotlight of the mainstream.

EDIT: I know my Biggie and Puffy comment is gonna get me a ton of shit, but so be it.

Listen to the Streets, some good British rap. Something different. "Yes, Yes, Oh Yay" :)
"You say that everything sounds the same, then you go buy it. There's no excuses my friend, let's push things forward."

GREAT line.

Haha. I've lost interest in that band. It's weird, because I thought they were like the best thing since sliced bread. Now I can't really say that I enjoy them too much. ::shrug::

You take the wings, I'll take the girl. I hear she hates french people, so there's no need for takin' her from me.

Bell Woods: I like how Cedric moves around on stage. Teh funny. It was cool in ATDI, but now its like... ok dude, when you're 40, are you still going to fucking do that? NO

There's really no need to argue against comments like that.

Gotta understand, dudes. There's shitty music in every genre. Don't mean we gots the patience for it. Just because you like Fat Joe's new song doesn't mean it's good.

heh, i always thought AtDI/TMV's real genius was to actually turn that stuff into legitimate songs with melodies. C&C are a bit more coherent i guess.

i showed my friend bell woods' lyrics, and he is going to try and get his band to use some of them :lol

your lyrics are a hit!

This is part of the reason I hate club culture. I don't understand the concept of dancing with some chick with the lights strobing on and off to the sound of some guy saying 'yeah' over and over again and mispronouncing 'there' as 'thurr'.

Some of you will say 'Not every hip hop song has to be some ultra deep look into society', but even when I'm not in the mood for something thought provoking, I just can't get into mainstream hip hop (or even mainstream music in general).

the thing about Hip Hop (or at least the mainstream sutff) is that the producers are the one's that should be getting most of the credit. Like that Usher song. Lil Jon made that song a hit. I doubt Usher had anything to do with the beat. You could have put any singers generic ass lyrics on it and it would have been the same tune.

Good points about mainstream rap v. mainstream rock. If anything, I'd say I prefer mainstream rap because it's usually just totally absurd (like the song you posted), so it's at least fun in that way; unlike the mundane, completely boring, Nickelback-type crap that makes up most of mainstream rock.

well the club is where u go meet girls and dance. of course there going to play songs that cater to dancing. and most of these hot mainstream rap songs have beat which u can dance to. they become instant hits so ur garbage rappers like petey pablo can even become famous.

as for the artist in question...juvenile is talented...check his 400 degreez album out.

There's songs in every single genre that are just as stupid. I don't use lame misconceptions and uninformed assumptions to feed my impression of a genre. There's a decent amount of good hip hop out there, you just have to look around. Same with any genre.

*sigh*

Where to start? I'm guessing you're still relatively youngish, Diablos. I mostly felt the same way until I hit my mid 20's and started to expand my horizons. Now I feel that I enjoy pretty much the cream of the crop in any genre.

Yes, Juvenile and Soulja Slim suck sour ass. But so does anything Billy Corgan ever touches, or a 1,001 other generic, whiny ass white rock stars. A good rule of thumb is, that if it makes it onto TRL it blows goats. I prefer to sample the best in every genre, kind of like a buffet or snack platter. Keeps things fresh.

It is true that all genres have crappy parts to them. It is just that punk and rap have a higher amount of crap than the other genres.

I can't dance to 'club' rap music. The words just get in the way of the music. You can throw me a great underworld track, but I am not going to dance if Pantera is singing over it.

I couldn't have said it better. Mainstream rap is way better than its rock counter part. Even when the subject matter is not, mainstream rap is still fun. There is a place for it. I can't say the same for mainstream rock.
