Nope. In the book, the Shogun was a dude named Toranaga, who was a fictionalized version of Tokugawa Ieyasu. Nobunaga had died about 20 years prior. Tokugawa was one of his successors.

It was about twenty years ago when I read the book I think you are right it was Tornaga I was thinking of, and Nobunaga was one of the lesser lords under Tornaga
