My wife teaches emotionally disabled primary school-age children 9 months out of the year. She loves her students and does a good job with them but by the time she gets home she does not want to see or be around children. If we go eat somewhere and there is a loud or disobedient child nearby she may even ask to move. It's no surprise that she's fine with not having kids of our own. This works out well because I never wanted them (too selfish with my time).
So, OP, suggest she change careers to teach ED kids and that will take the desire right out of her.
