Wellp. So much for that movie.

Future movies I want to see:

Ant Man

Fuck. Faith lost. I would watch ANYTHING by Wright, but now it's just another Marvel movie.

There goes any interest I had.

I don't think anyone will care about this movie now

Literally all my hype is gone.

Well this movie is going to suck.

there's probably zero reason for this film to exist now

sorry Ant-Man fans

Well, I'm no longer excited for the movie. I'm sure whatever Wright wanted was 100x more interesting than whatever the studio wanted.

Movie's dead.

Well fuck this movie then

and now nobody has a reason to care about ant man.

Fuck this was my most anticipated Marvel movie coming out next year. Now I might not even see it. They should've stuck with Wright.

I can't breathe, I'm laughing so hard. Who the hell knew Edgar Wright was so irreplaceable? There is literally no other director on the planet who could make a good Ant-Man movie. You guys are hilarious.

Glad Edgar had the integrity to leave rather than bending over for the Marvel machine.

He's one of the few directors who could make an interesting go at it rather than just another Marvel movie which it will now become.

Come to the Dark Side Wright...

If you watched Hot Fuzz and The Worlds End and did not think Wright could pull off some awesome action scenes then you are blind.

I could rattle off 10 directors who could pull off awesome action scenes. Most of whom I'd list would do it better. This guy does drinking movies. Am I wrong but isn't there a major annoyance with Marvel fans that the movies have too many jokes in them? And you want that guy to do Ant-Man? What, is Ant-Man going to do the worlds longest pub crawl because he is 1 inch tall? Give me a break.

I can't even begin to describe how upset I am about this.
I do hope someone like Joe Cornish gets a shot because not too many people can pill off this type of film.

Okay so I just googled this guy since I had no idea who he was until 5 minutes ago and I don't get all the crying. You guys are seriously let down that the director of those god awful Simon Pegg movies isn't going to be entrusted with a major Marvel movie? I say good riddance. Get some one with some clout.

I'm going to give a serious reply to this because I believe in sharing perspective and basically having an informative discussion. The main reason why people are upset is because the Ant-man movie for years has basically been Edgar Wright's baby. This wasn't a case of Marvel wanting to do an Ant-man movie and picking him, and then having a falling out.

What happened is that Edgar Wright felt he had a really good idea for an Ant-man film, and pitched it to Marvel. They liked it, and they allowed him to continue developing ideas to convince them further. He eventually shot a test clip to show off how he intended to shoot the action and effects for Ant-man's powers, and he seemed to have a very attractive idea for the story of the film. From the start the entire concept of an Ant-man movie has been attached to one creative force - Edgar Wright. Marvel waited for his other films to complete so he would have time to shoot this, pushing the movie into Phase 3. Everything was done to accommodate the possibility of seeing his unique vision of the character done on screen.

Now all those years of waiting and all the promises have gone down the drain. Whatever it will be replaced with will be something different. For anyone following the production of the movie from a creative perspective, it's extremely disappointing and sad.

We all know why this happened. Edgar Wright wanted to be shoot this movie in a creative fashion, and Marvel said fuck no.

Bust out the list, Fozzie Bear. :)

Because I have a hard time believing there are 10 working directors currently that actually CAN do action better than Wright's done it with his last THREE movies.

I mean, yeah, there's jokes. One of them is basically a straight up homage to Bad Boys II. But the fact he so cleanly blends characterization, emotion, plotting, and hilarious comedy WITH action filmmaking that is clean, understandable, and thoroughly satisfying as a piece of story ITSELF means there aren't too many directors who could step in and lend a similar touch to whatever he leaves behind.

But if you got 10, name em.

Breh, no one was looking forward to Ant-Man because they were huge fans of the character

Yeah this entire scenarios is having me go WTF is going on here? After 8 years of prolong wait and such, they decide to let him go?

And my interest level just rose up a tiny bit. Yeah, you read that right. Come at me!
I want Hank Pym as Ant-Man not Scott Lang damnit!

Fair enough, that was very hyperbolic of me. But I'M SO SALTY AND I CAN'T HANDLE IT.

I remember hearing him attached to after the success of Iron Man. Its been a long time coming, hell before the MCU was really up and in full swing. No offense to the other directors, but i'd put him a tier above every director Marvel has had. He's just that good. And a total comic fan boy. This is a huge blow.

Another one in camp "interest levels dramatically dropped"

Had little interest in the character but Wright's name attached massively increased the appeal for me. Now that is gone.

Cornish would be cool though.

As much as that really sucks and was looking forward to his take on the character, lol at people saying it now "just becomes another Marvel movie", as if that's some kind of negative. Every one of their films has been different and unique from the previous, even more so with what they've done in Phase 2.

Dammit. So they took two of my favorite Parks and Rec characters away for this, and then got rid of Edgar Wright :/. Hopefully he can get a new movie out fairly soon despite this.

you literally don't know what you're talking about

Neither does anybody else making assumptions at this point.

I never caught the hype for this so I'm less bothered by the news than others but fuck they put a shit load of time into this project hopefully it doesn't amount to nothing. After Winter Soldier it'd be nice if they could keep moving the level up instead of stagnating.

We all know why this happened. Edgar Wright wanted to be shoot this movie in a creative fashion, and Marvel said fuck no.

If that was the only reason, why did Marvel agree to pretty much everything else he needed over the years. They were extremely supportive, and it breaks down now? :/

Tell me which director you would have replace Edgar Wright with who shares a similar directoral talent set, and then we'll sit here and watch as that individual is no where near this project and laugh as it sucks ass.

The problem is really that we HAD someone that was great and perfect for the tone of Ant Man; now we lost him and there's a far higher probability that we're not going to get a good replacement than we are. There are not that many directors with Edgar Wright's unique mix of talent sets.
