And I no longer care about Ant-Man.
I would say that pretty much all the MCU Movies including the Thor and Cap sequels are pretty mediocre compared to any of Edgar Wright's movies. He really is one of the best directors of the 2000's. My interest has kind of died, even as a big comic book fan. This is why I'm not concerned. People cried foul when Alan Taylor got hired for Thor 2 and the Russos got brought on for Cap 2. Everyone thought they would suck...but they didn't. They turned out better than the originals IMO.
Something is rotten in Denmark...the fact that Gunn was able to produce his vision (it seems) for GotG makes me think that Wright goofed and not Marvel. We'll see.
Well, earlier this week: https://uk.movies.yahoo.com/bill-pope-shoot-ant-man-film-154300819.html
Obviously he's been talking to his DOP, and they've been talking about how they want to shoot it, and they know what they want visually. This is just... so sudden.
Oh, I don't know that history. What film did he take over? Is that how he got X-Men 3?It's the reason I made the Ratner joke - you just get a guy to color in the lines Wright already drew. You don't scrap anything. You just have someone else come in and sing lead, essentially.
This close to production and he just bails? I think he is pulling his 'entitled artist' card too hard here. "oh that idea is beneath me as a director so I'm going to walk out of this project even though all parties involved have been heavily invested for YEARS."
Cameron would invent his own marvel universe firstUnless you want it to come out 20 years from now, no thanks.

Guardians isn't as original as people love to trumpet.
Guardians isn't as original as people love to trumpet.
It's basically Firefly. A rocket holding a gun isn't this outlandish mindbending concept, nor are green people or talking trees.
It's a space opera. The only real difference between it and something like, say Fifth Element or Titan AE is that there's a Marvel logo that comes up in front of it.
Hopefully it'll be fun as hell, and funny, and will have some good action sequences. But let's stop acting like Guardians of the Galaxy is some giant outlier. We've all seen this movie before, multiple times. It just has a couple new, interesting looking coats of paint on it.

That's not it either. Around Spider-Man 3 and before the Marvel studios movies people started complaining that everything was too grim and gritty. It's just that there's always going to be someone to complain about something because it doesn't fit their preferences, and then they just start making dumb blanket statements.Superhero movie fans are pretty different from fans of actual comics. The movie types generally want everything grim 'n gritty. The books comics fans are most vocal about years after release are stuff like Nextwave, Immortal Iron Fist, etc.
Are they really going to make script changes and get a new director and start shooting immediately? The movie is only a year out.
Yeah you doAnd I no longer care about Ant-Man.

Anna Kendrick is back in his life.

I can't breathe, I'm laughing so hard. Who the hell knew Edgar Wright was so irreplaceable? There is literally no other director on the planet who could make a good Ant-Man movie. You guys are hilarious.
Not surprised, he couldnt take the shit from Marvel execs.
Are they really going to make script changes and get a new director and start shooting immediately? The movie is only a year out. That's why this is particularly worrying. Who can they get to fill his shoes on such short notice and do the film justice?
Loki was basically the only good thing about the movie. For what it's worth, Alan Taylor also complained about creative differences with Marvel. And it shows in the film. They came back at the last minute wanting to shoot more Loki scenes, which then took spotlight away from the films main antagonist and that ended up being a major complaint about the film.
Oh here we go. Anything to justify the anti-Marvel bullshit all of a sudden.
Just cancel it altogether.
And there were obviously no creative differences, am I right? Damn Wright, PUNISH HIM!Yes, those Marvel execs giving him a whopping 8 years to get his script right. Damn them it's obviously their fault!
UGH
The only reason this film was worth existing was because of Wright
And there were obviously no creative differences, am I right? Damn Wright, PUNISH HIM!
Too true.Thank you Based Feige...oh wait.
Maybe he wanted more than minimum wage.
I'm saying we don't need to be pointing fingers when they say that it's an amicable split due to creative differences. Yes it sucks because the movie is so close to production, but it's not like we know for sure that one party is clearly at fault.
Its entirely possible Wright wanted another massive delay, and Marvel decided that the eight years they gave him already was enough. They bumped this movie from Phase 1 to Phase 3 for Wright, maybe they just wanted to see some actual forward momentum?
Yeah people throwing anti MCU shit sound stupid right now.
They let Gunn and Russos do there thing.
They delayed Ant Man for Wright.
They let him write the script for 8 years.
Something else happened.
