"You have good sources Moriarty. Yes, we're in the process of putting together a commercial horror film based on the videotapes FACES OF DEATH. Our model will be what they did with the new Chainsaw, only with an original plot, since the tapes didn't really have any. A young, sexy group of kids have to figure out why all these strange deaths are happening in their small town, and they link them back to the original tapes.

The original movies are legendary for anyone aged 20-30, we all at least HAVE HEARD about it a few times.

WHY?! Just WHYYY?! While The concept could be really interesting, in a cool "blair witch project without teh suck", 'The Last Broadcast with an actual budget and coherent last 2 minutes" and 'Cannibal Holocaust WITHOUT THE CRAZY STONE DILDO RAPE ACTION AND REAL ANIMAL TORTURE' way. They could really have something cool going on if they had yet another pseudo real feel, like in those 3 movies,

You know damn right that they are going to fuck it up like The Texas Chainsaw massacre remake. I can only imagine the mega marketing blitz and expected re-released remastered versions of the 3 orginal Faces of Death flicks now with dts sound :lol

What made the Faces of Death movies work was the whole urban legend about it. What made Cannibal Holocaust movie work (ok it didnt work at all, IT SUCKED) was the extreme gore of it. What made The Last Broadcast work was the fact that it was a bunch of regular people, with a ultra homemade production look, mixed with the fact that it felt like a real early '90 pbs documentary. What made the BWP work, to an extend, was the hype

I think it could be interesting but as soon as I read that "young and sexy group of kids", I knew that the original's feelings of real nasty vibes had no chance of being of being recreated for this remake. Of course it's impossible to make money with movies like that nowadays, but damn, I wish they left them alone or something :|

I refused to watch any of the Faces of Death tapes. I dont see how anyone could watch that shit as entertainment. The fact that Hollywood is making a film about the tapes is fucking sad, though not at all unexpected.

Exactly. The fact that they are going to remake them into yet another cookie cutter horror movie reeks of the typical crap that people are always complaining about; and just feels so weird because the original movies are so wrong

I remember reading a Fangoria back in the day with an feature about the guy that made the movies. As I recall, everything was special effects except for the scene where they killed the chicken.

This film contains real stock footage of accidents, suicides, autopsies, and executions. It also contains many horribly acted deaths that have been proven as staged.

Many actors and special makeup/effects crew have come forward to try to obtain credit for their work on this film. Most of these people where not in any union at the time of filming. This is the reasoning for the brief credits which helped make the film more realistic.
