Whereas the Europeans are so used to getting fucked that when its eased in slowly, they actually kind of like it now.

Now, I'm no Sony fanboy, but $399? Who do they think they are? Sony? :lol

I'm definitely picking up a Revo and was possibly considering getting an Xbox360 if it was priced cheaper than PS3, but shit. If I'm gonna fork over $399 for a console, I'm going with the PS3 because you know for a fact it's going to get the most dev support.

Think bigger man. Skate parks through microtransactions!!

$.50 per skate park

800 skate parks sold= FREE 360 OMG !!!! !111

In the words of Wario: MICROTRANSACTIONS BITCHES!

did you ever stop to think you hate MS more than SCEI actually does.

Maybe this could become the "humble pie" / "serving of crow" thread for those who were COMPLETELY AND ABSOLUTELY adamant that there would only be one sku, with the HDD standard, with the wireless controller standard, and with the component cables standard, and were bashing anybody who said differently.

Normally, I'd let it go, but some of them got pretty abusive. :lol

and it can double as the "LOOK AT ME I TOLD YOU SO!~!!!!!!" thread.

Come on now KLee.

You got A Sony SXRD set, high end B&W speakers, Marantz front projection TV, Plasma TV, mega dollar amps, etc.

Whats $99 bucks for a wireless adapter?

;)

$1.00 will be the min and I doubt skateparks will be the min.

Yes I pointed this out in the other thread but it got buried.

Sony is the big winner in today's announcements because Microsoft will have the market primed into accepting not only higher game prices at $59.99, but higher console prices as well. Sony can now come into the market $100 more expensive than Xbox 360 and sell the value in the higher price because it will have a next generation DVD drive, wi-fi, and the world's most powerful console.

The Sony-ers are laughing at the Xbots expense right now, but the Xbots will have the last laugh when Sony annouces their pricing.

So spend the money and get the $399 SKU. I mean for that price, you get everything listed as an accessory.

You get:

Wireless controller
HDD
Wi-fi
Remote control
Headset

I mean the HDD alone is $100 so if you buy the $299 sku and a HDD, you might as well have bought the $399 and gotten all the extra stuff with it....

Stop ya bitchin you pansies :)

Indeed... I'd pay $400 for the PS3 without thicking twice, but $400 for the Xbox 360 to get everything is not a good value IMO.

Blu Ray player in the PS3 is the great equalizer.

Next-gen's standards seemed to have become $399 consoles, $60 games, and $40 controllers.

Where did these bloated prices come from? Can someone show me the exact moment in time where the console industry switched to the business model of "Let's milk gamers for every fucking penny we can!"?

I say we boycott Sony, MS, and Nintendo(yes nintendo with it's $99 micro) into submission so we get $199 consoles.

::raises sword::

WHO'S WITH ME?!!?!?!!

You don't get wi-fi in the $399 set. And the thing I have a gripe about is that if I were to get the $399 bundle, I also need approximately $60 to recharge, another $100 for wi-fi, and that doesn't include ANY games.

That's over $500, probably $600 with tax before buying any $60 games. I'll see what the competition has first, because at these prices, I'm gonna own only one of the PS3 and the 360. Nintendo will probably come in cheap enough I can get one of them.

I can certainly wait 6 months, and by then some games worth playing might be available.

BS. You dont "need" any of that to get the functionality you're after.
I wonder if you'll include the price of a mem stick to the price of your PS3....

yeah, because Microsoft set the price of the stand-alone HDD at $100 so you think you're getting a bargin. Besides, the HDD is worthless now.

X360 "Premium" + wifi = $500.

edit - beaten

Yeah and so far every cost estimate for a Blu-ray player for the home is around $1000, so how bare bones is this blu-ray drive going to be, to be put into a PS3 and be sold for around $400.....

Not so sure this is a smart thing either..

how is it worthless now? all most people used it for was saving gamesaves. You don't know if developers are still going to use it for cacheing altho that was underused as well. Ever think maybe, just maybe that devs will check if theres a harddrive and use cacheing if so, otherwise don't? again multiplatform games didnt take advantage of it except for custom soundtracks and im sure u can stil do the same. Also isnt this the same price the original xbox launched at? i believe so, so why all the cries about high prices?

"I wonder if you'll include the price of a mem stick to the price of your PS3...."

Nope, since Sony is using memory sticks instead of some crappy memory card, I'm set there. I already have several.

I expect the PS3 to cost the same, but it includes wi-fi and has HD-DVD type capability out of the box. Even at $499 it will be a wash...

I expect I will be able to pick up the MS "value-pack" next Spring/Summer closer to $299 with some games I actually want to play. There is no reason for me to be an early adopter this time, since there are no "must-have" games at launch anyway.

At the very least, I expect with that price tag I'll be able to obtain a 360 pretty easily at launch if I change my mind, without pre-ordering.

oh well, I am still gonna get the $399 version... Just so I dont have to worry about getting any other damn accessories.. And the wi-fi adapter is not that important to me, as I dont plan on moving my XB around alot....

So it's MS fault that you dont already have a Wi-Fi adapter and re-chargable AA batteries?

I was all dissapointed with wasting my time reading the thread, but that made it worth it. :lol

regardless what package is bought people will be spending lots of money... go with the premium package... you spend more than the norm... go with the core package... you spend even more on accessories.

with all this talk about money spent on the hardware... what about the games.

at 59.99 a pop... it might just deter consumers from buying the console at launch.
