Honestly... do we know ANYTHING solid about the Revolution?

Now with the xbuck coming to a home near me later in '06 I'm beginning to wonder what's going to be in/on/around Nintendo's system, but with all the "speculation" threads. I'm starting to wonder.

It will be released by Christmas, come in two versions (one just the console for $249.99, and one with Metroid Prime 3 and visor for $349.99.) It will also be the most powerful system of all time, and in the near future, boasting 4 teraflops performance, more than that of 360 and PS3 combined.

Oh and your avatar is hawt.

Its colors are black and blue, and it plays Cube games. Also, you can download older titles for a small fee, or maybe free. And it flies.

Yep, that's about it.

Thread over now, please?

We know the graphics will be good enough for us to say 'wow'. Other than that we now know that it'll be the only console with built in memory storage.. 512 MB of Flash memory... And a bunch of other things that are quite 'concrete', not to say official.

A new Super smash bros at launch!
Metroid Prime 3

It will be a very small black box: with a CPU made by IBM and a GPU made by ATi.
The interface will be revolutionary.

we know there will be a lot of broken hearts when a years worth of wildly unrealistic gaf expectations are dashed. let's just be thankful for small things like that.

Oh man, I wish. I wish - I wish - I wish.

(old) official statement from nintendos press site ^^

"The Cool Look: The new console boasts high-quality materials and a smart, compact design, approximately the size of three standard DVD cases stacked together. A variety of prototype colors are being showcased during E3. It will come with a silver stand that makes the system a welcome, artistic component of any multimedia setup, whether it's displayed vertically or horizontally.

Backward Compatibility: The new console plays all games from the current Nintendo GameCube™ generation. But there's more…

The Secret Weapon: The console also will have downloadable access to 20 years of fan-favorite titles originally released for Nintendo® 64, the Super Nintendo Entertainment System® (SNES) and even the Nintendo Entertainment System® (NES).

Easy Expansion: A bay for an SD memory card will let players expand the internal flash memory.

Two Disc Formats, One Slot: Instead of a tray, a single, innovative, self-loading media bay will play both 12-centimeter optical discs used for the new system as well as Nintendo GameCube discs. Owners will have the option of equipping a small, self-contained attachment to play movies and other DVD content.

The Specs: The system boasts 512 megabytes of internal flash memory, wireless controllers, two USB 2.0 ports and built-in Wi-Fi access. A worldwide network of Nintendo players can gather to compete in a comfortable, inviting environment. Revolution's technological heart, a processing chip developed with IBM and code-named "Broadway," and a graphics chip set from ATI code-named "Hollywood," will deliver game experiences not previously possible.

The Stars: Introduction of a number of new franchise properties will add to the world's richest stable of stars, including Mario, Zelda, Super Smash Bros., Donkey Kong and Metroid.

Wireless Freedom: A number of Wi-Fi-enabled launch titles are in development that will employ Nintendo's newly announced wireless gaming service, Nintendo® Wi-Fi Connection. A worldwide network of Nintendo players can gather to compete in a comfortable, inviting environment.

Freedom of Design: A dynamic development architecture equally accommodates both big-budget, high-profile game "masterpieces" as well as indie games conceived by individual developers equipped with only a big idea."

Thank you for taking the time to post that.... that should give me some good reading for a bit. :)

No, and we shouldn't care, because like the Gamecube Nintendo it's gonna be a fuckin' content wasteland.

Well, unless you haven't spent the last ten years accumulating a massive stockpile of ROMs like the rest of the known nerdboy world.

Best console design ever!

ohhh speculation!

can the DS be used as an on screen GBA player (is that possible?)

Man, for all the shit the revo (rightly) gets, the system still looks hot. I love it.

The Virtual Console idea es very good because adds valor to Revolution.

Yes, I know that the ROMS exists, but this is a feature that isn´t in 360 and PS3 without modyfing the consoles in some point.

X-Box Live Arcade? There's no reason why MS and Sony can't offer budget software as online downloads too.

Nintendo's library is HUGE!
3 consoles many different genre's titles
If sega joins them, or all the 3rd party's from the NES/SNES days they have a shitload of games!

Thats why revolution development is cheap: You just sell your old games overpriced, and with the money you create new games! :lol

I can't believe Nintendo is actually charging extra for DVD playback.

Kind of like how MS did with the Xbox?

Licensing fees for putting in a DVD player are covered from sales of overpriced dongles, like the DVD remote for the Xbox. This means that the price of the system itself can be kept down for people who don't want to watch DVDs on it.
