Honor among men...

Is it just me, or is honor among men these days now dead? I've noticed time and time again that a man would stab his fellow man in the back to steal something of his, i.e. his girlfriend/wife. Why is this? Am I just imagining things, or do men nowadays stoop to the level of common thieves to get what they want from another person? I feel there should be a certain amount of honor among men when dealing with things such as another man's significant other. Don't you think it's just wrong to even try to steal the girlfriend/wife of a man, especially if you know this person? It just makes me sick to think about the very idea. If the person is unhappy in a relationship, they should atleast break up first before allowing themselves to be taken. I don't know, perhaps I'm just blind....

The penis has no concept of honor.

ROFL I can't help but immagine your avatar saying that.

And on topic, Yeah I agree with the first post and thats how I live....but i'm of the opinion that most people honestly don't care. I think its not a case of "honour among men" being dead, more the fact that it was never alive in the first place. We tend to romanticise the past and pretend that things like honour and chivalry existed - but IMO people are just horny and immoral as they have allways been.

I don't mean to alarm you but you have dogs on your face
I can proudly say that I've never had sex with a friend's girlfriend. That makes me honorable. and cool.

if society bugs you now, don't watch The Last Samurai... you'll really hate society after that (comparison of honorable life to dishonorable reality)

There SHOULD be honor among men. I believe in it.

However, I also believe that it is fine to "steal" another man's lady. Unless, the other man you're talking about is a friend of yours then that's definitely off-limits.

All's fair in love and war.

Life is far to petty for honor to really exist. Honor made more sense when 90% of life was do or die kinda shit.

Now its like HE CUT ME OFF! ILL HELP YOU DEFEND YOUR HONOR! WAIT! THAT'D BE DUMB! LETS JUST CUT HIM OFF HAW HAW!

I hate romanticized looks at feudal systems and agrarian lifestyles ;)

But yeah, I don't go after friend's girlfriends. Granted, I think exceptions can be made, but that has to be one hell of an exception, and you better be ready to accept the consequences of it.

If I might add to this thread, that women can be as "dishonorable" as men. Like in some other thread, someone was mentioning how women suddenly flock to men once they're taken. I hate people like that. I would never do that to anybody's significant other and I certainly do not appreciate all those little skanks that go after my boyfriend. Also I do hate it when guys that KNOW I have a boyfriend still decide to flirt with me. As mentioned above, there is no honor in that and it makes them look like total losers.

I'm pretty sure that honour [and chivalry] used to be fairly important. It's not just romanticism. Honour is a systemic/infectious phenomenon generally restricted to tight communities. When you can walk through a sea of faces just blocks away and not recognize a single face, something such as 'honour' will have very little relevance.

Oh, and TV! TV has killed honour and morality!

I'm not real clear on what you're asking here: honor in general or attempting to steal a girl from a relationship specifically. In the latter case, I'll simply generalize and say this much: pretty much every great girl I run into, and they are few in number, are dating assholes and deserve better.

I might fuck the girlfriend of some other guy, but I'd never steal and keep her. If she can cheat on him with me than she can cheat on me, and thats not hot.

I rationalize this because I would never steal a friends girl, firstly. Secondly I consider it a service to the guy if he finds out. If his girlfriend cheated with me then she was gonna eventually cheat with SOMEBODY, so the sooner she does and he finds out the sooner he get's rid of his flawed woman and moves on.
