So how many of you guys have seen the bastardization of Halloween remake by RZ? I refuse to pay for a ticket to see it and the reviews of it have not been pretty.

The Saw IV Autopsy trailer actually made me wince a little. just getting back into watching horroflicks again after a 10+ year absence.

Bastardization? The Gus van Sant remake of Psycho was a bastardization. Rob Zombie's Halloween is actually pretty good. It's not supposed to be a shot-for-shot tribute to the original; it's more Rob Zombie's version of the same core story.

Also: Saw's villain is lame. Sadistic, but lame. I couldn't bring myself to watch any of the Saw sequels, the first one's "twist" ending actually just let me down to the point of not caring.

I heard that was the big issue with Halloween. The first part of it had bits of intrigue where Zombie gave some new information to the story. The rest of the movie was almost a scene by scene remake.

RZ Halloween is a good film. Generally watching a film gives you more ability to criticize it. Also, the remakes-are-bad reflex is getting old. The average remake is not any better or worse than the average original film or the average sequel.

That's more or less the film's only problem. However, after watching it a second time, I think most people will see that the "remake" portion of the film uses key scenes and plot points from the original, but places them in the context as the third act to the two act new part. So while the actions or settings may be similar or even identical at times, the use of them as film language or story-telling is quite different.

Please. If anything, Halloween II is worse than the Zombie rethink. Of course you wouldn't know, because you've decided to avoid a good film.

Man, you haven't even seen it and you're complaining? Meh. Go find a cheap matinee and then come back.

Yeah, even if you hate the movie, it is still fun to hear that music in a theater. Even in the worst sequel, they still manage to get that right.

I thought that was explained in post numero-uno? When it hits the DVD I will snag it.
