Since op opened the topic i'm gonna ask advice for horror movies with big aquatic animals of any kind or just movies with monsters, mutated beasts or big ass animals.
I'm a sucker for well made creatures.
Saint Maud another modern classic imo.Hereditary

Can't i just watch a documentary about the ccp instead? You might be tempted (like I was) to get high and watch this movie
Don't.
Already saw that. Not really what you are looking for but I just watched a film called Backcountry, One scene was pretty horrific.
Already saw all of them.
I was just hoping for some less mainstream advice and more horror oriented tbh.
It doesn't look like a movie with monsters or killer animals.
Give that a watch. Fucking film made me check my doors were locked at night..
Well they're monsters and animals. It's got you covered..It doesn't look like a movie with monsters or killer animals.
Don't watch this unless you want to feel stupid and hoodwinked. It has the worst ass pull of an ending ever.
Overlord from 2018 was a pretty good flick.
It tapped into a lot of things that I like as a premise for a horror flick.
I loved it until the ending. It literally ruined the entire film for me and a great many others. While not everyone will like the ending, it's still worth it for how brutal it is. The house scene at the beginning was great. I'd recommend most Alexandre Aja movies, they all have some great gore scenes.
Ready or Not - Recently watched this and it was pretty damn good.
The Black Phone - Fantastic atmosphere, loved it.
Session 9 - Great atmosphere, slow burn
Pandorum - It's pretty much Dead Space the movie
A24 truly is the GOAT for quality new horror movies.A24 horror movie? Count me in! https://bloody-disgusting.com/movie...ds-directing-hugh-grant-horror-movie-for-a24/
Agree-that opening act was an excellent short film that kept me guessing and going back-and-forth as to what the character's intentions wereBarbarian got the vibe and build up for the first 45 minutes and after it hits the rest of the movie is kinda mid.
I've seen Pulse and a couple Asian found footage horror movies I really liked, like Noroi, Gonjiam: Haunted Asylum, and another really good one that for the life of me, I can't track down the name of. It was about a documentary film crew following a guy who's supposedly communicating with an alternate dimension that convinces him it's morally right to carry out a terrorist attack, only to find:I recommend checking out Asian horror. It’s definitely more varied and does more than the usual jumpscare and scary loud noises.

Got any other good ones?
Pee Mak sounds interesting--I like tonal shifts like that since it can make the enjoyable aspects of both stronger by contrast.Kairo
Ringu (The Ring)
Ju-on (The Grudge)
Pee Mak though this is like comedy the first half then becomes horror the second half

Ordered this movie today. I remember renting it on VHS in the 90’s. I don’t think I found it scary but it seemed like a creepy/semi realistic premise. Crazy siblings being foster parents and murdering/abusing them in creepy ass ways. I lived in near Detroit for 4 years and would drive by one nice house with abandoned house all around them. Instantly thought of this movie!I picked up the 4K blu ray of The People Under the Stairs, from 1991. Watched it tonight with the kids.
Didn't age as well as I would have liked. Still a good movie, just not very scary.
