Saw it on your recommendation I think. Best horror movie I've seen in years. You should watch When Evil Lurks
That movie pulls no punches
Talk to Me qas probably one of the best films I saw last year. I also recently watched Society by Brian Yumza surprised not to have heard more people talk about it in threads like these (nice to see it on NotMyProblemAnymoreCunt 's list).
I'd suggest going in blind.
This one was disturbing and literally disorienting. It starts off slow but then it just goes completely off the rails.
Yeah I "enjoyed" it too insomuch as a bad trip can be enjoyableI "enjoyed" this movie... it is kind of disturbing like the other Gaspar Noe films, and the dance scenes are great. It is definitely an experience I recommend.
I love this 3 films, but be warned that they are very disturbing which is my cup of tea.Hereditary
The Witch
Midsommar
my favourite 3 of the modern era. Eggars and Aster are both genius
Exactly haha, but I loved that feeling of watching something that you shouldnt be watchingYeah I "enjoyed" it too insomuch as a bad trip can be enjoyable

You found those 3 films "disturbing" ?
Man, don't even try to watch When evil lurks then :
...or any other sick shit out there which have gore just for the sake of it (Evil dead remake/Raw/ etc)
Just to be clear, I'm no fan of excessive violence/gore and while the term "disturbing" can wildly vary from case to case and from individual to individual, those 3 movies mentioned are pretty mild all things considered, sure, thematically are pretty dark but, again, they're not over the top or anything IMO
Cheers

Ive watched all them, and i found evil lurks far less disturbing than those... the worst for me is a serbian film and salo maybe

Fuck everybody really starting with the bed ridden obese man and the shotgun blast victimThat scene was brutal
That movie should have been called Fuck Dem Kids
I had it on as background noise awhile back before I went to sleep. I need to give it a rewatchI'm going to give Skinamarink a shot tonight on Shudder.
Without spoiling myself I noticed it's quite polarizing
I'll drink a big coffee before starting the movieI had it on as background noise awhile back before I went to sleep. I need to give it a rewatch
I have the same opinion of serbian filmFuck brother, why did you have to mention that shite ? hate shit like that, no real drive behind it, being provocative just for the sake of it - and the director's claims regarding its "allegorical" nature was just pure, hipster and unadulterated bullshit, just be honest and say that you wanted to create something provocative and violent instead of hiding behind BS excuses.
In case i didn't make myself clear enough, i completely agree with you
Cheers
Never cared for those types of movies either.I have the same opinion of serbian film

I recently saw a tale of two sisters. Excellent Korean horror film. The sound design is terrific and it's really well shot. Not the scariest film but there's a constant creepy feel and some The Ring level scary scenes.
Tried to watch the whole thing but couldn't.
Started fast forwarding at 40 minutes then just gave up.
It feels like a high school student movie which got a D grade.
I'm all for something different but don't waste my time.
Just watched this. I rented it on YouTube a couple of days ago, but was kind of passed out during some key scenes so I was VERY confused. Rewatched it last night and appreciated it much more. It's one of those films that can be very difficult to sit through (it's like... feel-terrible porn) but there's some really great performances and presentation. Between this and Enter the Void, I find that the director's films are very effective and provocative, even if a bit over-the-top.Climax is nightmarishly good once shit hits the fan. Love it or hate it, it'll be etched into your memory for a while.
^ This, 100%. Not because of the shock or disturbing factor but because it suuuuucks. The first 15-20min are interesting, but it dissolves into nonsense quick. Such a disappointing ending too.Man, don't even try to watch When evil lurks then
Is this worth a watch? Eli Roth directing and remember seeing the fake trailer when I watched the “Grindhouse” double feature almost 20 years ago.
For free? Sure. Otherwise, not really.

I'd love to hear your recommendations of good horror.^ This, 100%. Not because of the shock or disturbing factor but because it suuuuucks. The first 15-20min are interesting, but it dissolves into nonsense quick. Such a disappointing ending too.
The Thing (1982) is always worth a yearly re-watch around Halloween.I'd love to hear your recommendations of good horror.
Loved Possessor and Under the Skin, obviously The Thing too! Never heard of Phantom Thread. I'll look for it. The void was good too.The Thing (1982) is always worth a yearly re-watch around Halloween.
I know it's not technically a horror movie, but Phantom Thread (2017) left me shook.
I still think Hellraiser (1987) holds up.
As a guy that has a sickness for the thickness, Under the Skin (2013) was scary because I could easily see myself being one of the victims.
The Void (2016) is solid cosmic horror. Not overtly scary, just a good time. Similar in tone to Planet Terror (2007).
Angel Heart (1987) and Jacob's Ladder (1990) are good.
Possessor (2020) has a lot of shock value. More so than When Evil Lurks.
There's definitely more, those are just off the top of my head.
Tripping + horror is an excellent combo. And if on shrooms *or* LSD
Looking at what I own on both bluray & digital I suggest:I'd love to hear your recommendations of good horror.
For every little gem I find on SHUDDER there's a lot of crap to sift through. It's shit like honestly everything on Shudder.
If I see that logo I just opt out.
I really enjoyed it. Went straight home after watching it and threw on the original to see how it ties in.Anyone seen the new Omen? My brother said it was really good
